I’m getting a collie soon (think “[name_f]Lassie[/name_f]” type).
It will be mahogany sable (I often like to name a pet based loosely on color - so brown, yellow, orange, copper tones). Most mahogany names sound like hair dye to me…
I don’t like human names for dogs with the exception of human names that are more often used for pets anyway. While the dog is “Scottish”, I’m not and feel dumb using a Scottish name.
I’m probably getting a male dog, but most names I think of are feminine sounding. I like Noisette or Hazelnut but I think it sounds like a female dog. I like [name_f]Topaz[/name_f] too because a former cat I had was named after a precious stone.
I currently have two family cats named after Italian drinks, but I didn’t name them. Still I’ve thought of continuing the trend. Bellini is an option. Or I thought Biscotto. But it’s not like we’re Italian either.
Names that came to mind that don’t necessarily meet criteria:
[name_m]Barkley[/name_m] (cause tree bark is brown and dogs bark…bad joke but yea)
Biscotti
[name_m]Cosmo[/name_m]
[name_m]Monty[/name_m]
[name_u]Murphy[/name_u]
[name_u]Rowan[/name_u]
[name_m]Woody[/name_m]
