Rowan Rhys

DH and I are considering [name_u]Rowan[/name_u] [name_u]Rhys[/name_u] for a boy with potential nickname [name_u]Rory[/name_u]. Last name is Muhn-see, so no more R’s to make it super R heavy. What do you think? The name, unintentionally, has a lot of UK influence with a Scottish/Irish first name, a Welsh middle, and an Irish nickname. We do have both Scottish and Irish heritage, but perhaps it’s too much? I am not always a fan, but in this case I like the alliteration, especially since last name has no Rs.

I think [name_u]Rowan[/name_u] [name_u]Rhys[/name_u] is fine, as is the nickname [name_u]Rory[/name_u]. I think [name_u]Rowan[/name_u] Muhn-see sounds fine and I’m actually a big fan of alliteration. I wouldn’t say the UK influence is that big of a problem.

i love nicknames that pull sounds from first and second names! i think that’s so cute, and [name_u]rowan[/name_u] [name_m]rhys[/name_m] nn [name_u]rory[/name_u] ticks so many boxes for me. sounds great!!

I actually really like it. The alliteration doesn’t bother me and unless you use the full name you don’t all of the UK influence.

[name_u]Love[/name_u] [name_u]Rowan[/name_u], love [name_u]Rory[/name_u]. Not a fan of [name_u]Rhys[/name_u]. But it’s not my baby, it’s yours.

Thanks, everyone, for the opinions. =] I really appreciate it. For now, it’s a combo we’ll definitely be keeping on our list. I may still play with the middle name, but we’ll see.

I think it’s great. I love alliteration if it’s not too overblown, and with your last name I think this strikes just the right balance. [name_u]Rowan[/name_u] and [name_u]Rory[/name_u] are both great names, and “[name_u]Rory[/name_u]” for [name_u]Rowan[/name_u] [name_u]Rhys[/name_u] is such a cool idea!

The UK influence isn’t obvious to me but perhaps that’s because I’m British so they just seem like standard names to me! They’re certainly accessible British choices - recognisable and easy to spell and pronounce - so I don’t think it’s an issue.

I love it!

I think it’s really handsome! I love alliteration when done right!

I’m honestly not sure the UK influence would be obvious to most people here, either. [name_m]Just[/name_m] a crazy pregnant lady overthinking things mostly. lol I definitely agree that [name_u]Rowan[/name_u] is quite accessible. [name_u]Rhys[/name_u] is a little less so here, probably, but with relatively well known actors like [name_m]Jonathan[/name_m] [name_u]Rhys[/name_u] [name_m]Davies[/name_m] and [name_m]Jonathan[/name_m] [name_u]Rhys[/name_u] Meyers, it might not be too bad. I can see some people assuming it’s pronounced like rice rather than reese, which is an easy correction.

Thanks, again, for the opinions, Berries!

I think it’s a fantastic name.

I’m all for FN + MN alliteration, but then I would be!!

I love [name_u]Rowan[/name_u], [name_u]Rory[/name_u], and [name_u]Rhys[/name_u] so it’s a big yes from me!

Thank you, @maggiemary and @findemaxa13 for your opinions! I’m quite glad [name_u]Rowan[/name_u] [name_u]Rhys[/name_u] “[name_u]Rory[/name_u]” is getting such positive feedback. =]

I love it! [name_u]Rowan[/name_u] and [name_u]Rhys[/name_u] are both great names, and [name_u]Rory[/name_u] makes a great nickname

I really like it. Especially pulling the nickname from [name_f]Ro[/name_f]wan Rhys.
