Rowen or Rowan or Rowyn

For a girl, which spelling do you prefer?

[name_u]Rowen[/name_u]
[name_u]Rowan[/name_u]
[name_m]Rowyn[/name_m]

(Note: this post is just for fun! I saw another comment mentioning the name [name_u]Rowan[/name_u] and was reminded of how much I like it, and am always interested in why people pick certain variations over others.)

I like [name_u]Rowen[/name_u] better, it’s like a short form of [name_f]Rowena[/name_f]. [name_u]Rowan[/name_u] is nice too but [name_u]Rowen[/name_u] just looks… proper? I’m not sure how to explain it. Plus, the ‘e’ is better placed because of how it’s pronounced, the ‘a’ in [name_u]Rowan[/name_u] seems forced and like it should be said “[name_f]Ro[/name_f]-an”. And [name_m]Rowyn[/name_m] looks a bit cre8ive for me.

The original: [name_u]Rowan[/name_u].

I like [name_u]Rowen[/name_u], followed closely by [name_u]Rowan[/name_u]. I don’t like [name_m]Rowyn[/name_m] at all, the ‘y’ makes it seem really trendy.

Either [name_u]Rowan[/name_u] or [name_u]Rowen[/name_u]. Not [name_m]Rowyn[/name_m] though.

[name_u]Rowan[/name_u] …

[name_u]Rowan[/name_u] is the only one I’d use, but I think I prefer it on a boy.

I don’t mind [name_f]Rowena[/name_f] or Rowenna for a girl, but mentally I pronounce them differently, row-EE-na vs. ro-WENN-a.

[name_u]Rowan[/name_u] for me. The trendy Y is horrible looking.

[name_u]Rowan[/name_u] for sure.

[name_u]Rowen[/name_u] looks the best, and I’m pretty sure that’s the original spelling anyway.

Nope, the original is [name_u]Rowan[/name_u], like the tree.

I prefer [name_u]Rowan[/name_u]. [name_u]Rowen[/name_u] is in second place. But I hate [name_m]Rowyn[/name_m] - it’s just terrible trendy, and the ‘y’ doesn’t belong there at all.

[name_u]Rowan[/name_u]. [name_u]Rowen[/name_u] is okay. I am not a fan of [name_m]Rowyn[/name_m].
