Roxy?

We are still stumped on a good girls name. Our boys both have family names and I have always loved my surname but not sure if it is usable.

Would you use Roxberry as a name? I don’t think she would ever go by Roxberry but I tend to think [name_f]Roxy[/name_f] is too much of a nickname to use on it’s own. And if we did use it what type of name would you put with it? I’m thinking it would go in the middle spot and I would want something very obviously feminine as a first name.

[name_f]My[/name_f] boys are [name_m]Stafford[/name_m] & [name_u]Reed[/name_u] so would also like a name that fits with theirs as well.

Would love to know your thoughts on [name_f]Roxy[/name_f] & any and all suggests to complete the sibset!

I love [name_f]Roxie[/name_f] (prefer this spelling) but I agree it looks a little too much like a nickname.

Roxberry is too out-there for me personally, but I think it could be fun in the middle spot!

Have you considered [name_f]Roxana[/name_f], [name_f]Roxanne[/name_f], Roxandra, [name_f]Roxine[/name_f] or [name_m]Roxbury[/name_m]?

[name_f]Roxy[/name_f] [name_f]Leandra[/name_f]
[name_f]Eleanora[/name_f] [name_f]Roxie[/name_f]

[name_u]Vivian[/name_u] Roxberry
[name_f]Susannah[/name_f] Roxberry

[name_f]Nova[/name_f] [name_f]Roxana[/name_f]
[name_f]Roxana[/name_f] [name_f]Esmeralda[/name_f]
[name_f]Pandora[/name_f] [name_f]Roxanne[/name_f]
Roxandra [name_f]Lillian[/name_f]

[name_f]Roxy[/name_f] is cute, but I agree that I prefer it as a nickname. I love [name_f]Roxanne[/name_f] nn [name_f]Roxy[/name_f] (I knew one and she was so spunky!). I don’t like Roxberry, sorry!
[name_m]Stafford[/name_m] and [name_u]Reed[/name_u] are great names.

[name_f]Roxy[/name_f] is really cute but too nicknamey to be used alone imo. Did you make up Roxberry yourself? I googled it and it seems to be a juice bar. I would be wary of made-up names, it’s better to go with an established name like [name_f]Roxana[/name_f] or [name_f]Roxane[/name_f].

I would use a simple, gentle name as a middle since the Rox- names feel quite spunky and fiery to me, something like [name_f]Roxana[/name_f] [name_f]Lily[/name_f] or [name_f]Roxane[/name_f] [name_f]Mara[/name_f].

[name_f]Roxy[/name_f] is actually my dog’s name so I could never use it. I could definitely see it on a little girl though.

[name_m]Stafford[/name_m] and [name_u]Reed[/name_u] are definitely unique but have a much more preppy, classy feel to me than [name_f]Roxy[/name_f].

I went to high school with a [name_f]Roslyn[/name_f] who went by [name_f]Roxy[/name_f], but I think most of the more usual full names for [name_f]Roxy[/name_f] are much more common place than your boys names.

Roxberry just doesn’t feel classy to me, though I do think [name_f]Roxy[/name_f] is a lot of fun. As a middle name I think it could be okay.

I know a preppy little girl named Maelind. Maelind Roxberry is cool

[name_f]Imogen[/name_f] Roxberry also has a neat feel.

[name_f]Merill[/name_f] or [name_f]Maren[/name_f] Roxberry would be beautiful.

I really like [name_f]Roxy[/name_f]/[name_f]Roxie[/name_f].

I got really REALLY negative reactions from so many people it kind of put me off though.

[name_f]My[/name_f] favorite long forms are [name_f]Roxana[/name_f], Roxelana, [name_f]Raquel[/name_f], and [name_f]Raquela[/name_f]. I’ve known multiple Raquels who went by [name_m]Rocky[/name_m] or [name_f]Roxy[/name_f] so I think it could work? [name_f]Roxana[/name_f] (or [name_f]Roxanne[/name_f]) would be the most direct though.

I apologize but I absolutely despise the name [name_f]Roxy[/name_f]. As a full name anyway. I know a few, and one is called [name_f]Roxanne[/name_f] but everyone calls her [name_f]Roxy[/name_f]…that is better. I would seriously prefer to name my child Pebbles though lol. I would only use it as a nickname and I don’t like Roxberry. Your sons names are adorable! Good luck!

I actually love the idea of using your surname Roxberry as her middle name! I think you definitely should use it!! It’s unique & makes sense as your surname, not to mention, it’s super cool. And I’m probably in the minority, but I’m not a fan of [name_f]Roxy[/name_f]/[name_f]Roxie[/name_f] as a name or nickname. It feels really dated to me, cause so many [name_u]Baby[/name_u] Boomers used it for their children. I’m head-over-heals for your boys’ names, [name_m]Stafford[/name_m] & [name_u]Reed[/name_u], & a [name_f]Roxy[/name_f] in there just wouldn’t fit in my opinion. Would you consider…

I love a lot of your suggestions. The other issue we are having is my husband would like to incorporate a family name from his side ([name_f]Agnes[/name_f], [name_f]Mary[/name_f], [name_f]Virginia[/name_f], [name_f]Jane[/name_f]). I’m not of huge fan of any but [name_f]Jane[/name_f]. [name_m]Lawson[/name_m] is a family name also (Similar to your suggestion of [name_m]Larson[/name_m]).

[name_m]Stafford[/name_m] has been calling the baby “[name_f]Millie[/name_f]” since he found out we were having a baby (he is 3). So we have also been trying to decide if we want to incorporate that. Possibly as a nickname for [name_f]Emily[/name_f].

Naming the boys was much less challenging!!

Roxberry is my maiden name. Definitely not made up

I agree [name_f]Roxy[/name_f] is too nickname-ish and Roxberry is better as a middle name than a first name.

I actually love [name_f]Roxy[/name_f] and even though Roxberry may be her middle name, you can still refer to her as [name_f]Roxy[/name_f]. It is not uncommon for someone to be reffered to by their middle name.

[name_f]Roxy[/name_f] is actually my dog’s name, which surprisingly doesn’t make it too hard to think of it as a person’s name but actually makes me like it more. [name_f]My[/name_f] suggestions would be:

[name_m]Roxbury[/name_m] -it is the name of a town near me. I actually like it a lot and pronounce it the same as Roxberry. I think [name_m]Roxbury[/name_m] goes really well with your son’s names, better than Roxberry imo.
[name_f]Roxanne[/name_f]
[name_f]Roxana[/name_f]- my favorite if you’re planning on using it as a first.

Since Roxberry is your maiden name, I think it would be a great middle and you could still call her Roxy. My middle name is my mom’s surname and I’ve always loved that it has familial significance rather than being a “filler” name.

I think you could conceivably use [name_f]Roxy[/name_f] as a nickname for a number of [name_f]Ros[/name_f]- starting names, like [name_f]Rosamund[/name_f], [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f], etc.

[name_f]Roxy[/name_f] is a great name. Best of luck with whatever name you choose

Thanks  Both boys actually go by their middle names. We didn’t intend to do that but liked the sound of Nathan Stafford and August Reed so much better than the reverse. Stafford and Reed are both family names so it would be fun to call her by one as well.

Our family has a variety of Roxbury and Roxberry spellings. I believe quite a few people changed it to the “berry” spelling when they came to the US. I’ve always appreciated how unique it was. And I do like the feel of the 3 names together. Now to come up with a potential first name!
