Ruby- due this week! Down to two middle names

She’s due this week! After going back and forth on long vs. short middle names, we’re down to two short and sweet MNs. Please let me know which one you prefer!

[name]Ruby[/name] [name]Cate[/name]
[name]Ruby[/name] [name]Mae[/name]

I like [name]Ruby[/name] [name]Cate[/name] more. [name]Ruby[/name] [name]Mae[/name] is adorable, but it feels a bit cutesy to me. Besides, I just like [name]Cate[/name] in general more than [name]Mae[/name]! [name]Both[/name] are really sweet, though.

Good luck!

[name]Ruby[/name] [name]Mae[/name] is adorable! It sounds like the name of a little Southern [name]Belle[/name]!

I love [name]Ruby[/name] [name]Cate[/name] (I’m not partial or anything, beings I’m [name]Kate[/name] ) I think [name]Ruby[/name] [name]Mae[/name] sounds like a grandma IMHO. [name]Ruby[/name] was popular in the early 19th century while [name]Mae[/name] was popular in the 1800’s. Obviously they are both classics that have withstood the test of time. I just feel like [name]Ruby[/name] [name]Cate[/name] has a slight modern feel to it.

I do love [name]Mae[/name] but I prefer [name]Ruby[/name] [name]Cate[/name] as a combo.

I love [name]Mae[/name], but I think [name]Ruby[/name] [name]Cate[/name] just sounds perfect together. Congratulations on your daughter’s upcoming birth! She’s going to have such a beautiful name.

I adore [name]Ruby[/name]! My closest friend’s name is [name]Ruby[/name] [name]Jean[/name] so I’m going to use [name]Ruby[/name] as a middle name to honour her. I think out of thee two, my favourite is [name]Ruby[/name] [name]Mae[/name]. I’d probably prefer [name]Ruby[/name] [name]Catherine[/name] (nn “[name]Ruby[/name] [name]Cate[/name]”) over both, but that wasn’t an option.

Congrat and good luck!

[name]Ruby[/name] [name]Mae[/name] is a little expected, [name]Ruby[/name] [name]Cate[/name] gets my vote. It’s adorable!

My daughter is named Jacquelyn Kate so I could only vote for Kate/Cate prefer K spelling. I think Mae sounds a bit plain.

Best wishes

Firstly I love the name [name]Ruby[/name]! As for the middle name I think I like [name]Ruby[/name] [name]Mae[/name] best. I think [name]Cate[/name] spelt that way just looks like it’s short for [name]Catherine[/name] but maybe if you did [name]Ruby[/name] [name]Kate[/name]? Either way they are both lovely and you can’t really go wrong.

You can’t go wrong either way. I [name]LOVE[/name] them both. I love [name]Cate[/name] with that spelling. It looks sophisticated to me. My great grandma was [name]Bonnie[/name] [name]Mae[/name]. My great-great aunt was [name]Ruby[/name] [name]Lola[/name]. [name]Ruby[/name] [name]Mae[/name] is fantastic, and I’m partial to both of the names, but I think [name]Ruby[/name] [name]Cate[/name] feels a bit more polished to me, so I’d probably go with that.

[name]Ruby[/name] [name]Cate[/name] makes me immediately think of the verbs ‘rubricate’ and ‘ruminate.’ Also find the strange spelling of [name]Cate[/name] off-putting. I prefer [name]Ruby[/name] [name]Mae[/name], I think it’s simple and really pretty.

[name]Ruby[/name] [name]Cate[/name]! Sounds fresh and modern whereas [name]Ruby[/name] [name]Mae[/name] sounds too southern, unless you are going for that. : ) My sister and I both love [name]Mae[/name] as a middle but were both unable to use it as our married names are both verbs. Something to watch out for. Ex. [name]Anna[/name] [name]Mae[/name] Cook.

I agree that [name]Ruby[/name] [name]Mae[/name] feels a little southern. I like [name]Ruby[/name] [name]Cate[/name], but only if it is spelled [name]Ruby[/name] [name]Kate[/name]. It shouldn´t make a difference, but [name]Cate[/name] just feels really masculine to me… like [name]Caden[/name]. I also agree with what one of the other posters said, that it sounds like a verb or a word when it blends together. If it were me, I would go with a longer middle name to balance out [name]Ruby[/name]… [name]Ruby[/name] [name]Madeline[/name], [name]Ruby[/name] [name]Cordelia[/name], [name]Ruby[/name] [name]Penelope[/name], [name]Ruby[/name] [name]Annabel[/name] etc. Goodluck!

Ruby MaeIf you spelt it [name]Ruby[/name] [name]Kate[/name] I would change my vote. I simply have an issue with the RC initials. My sister a [name]Rachel[/name] [name]Catherine[/name] dislikes her RC (Arsey) initials and the Arsey by name Arsey by nature jokes.

[name]Ruby[/name] [name]Cate[/name] by a mile! Very sweet.

Although I prefer [name]Mae[/name], I think [name]Ruby[/name] [name]Cate[/name] has a little more spunk than [name]Ruby[/name] [name]Mae[/name]. If you’re still undecided, bring both names to the hospital with you and choose after you meet your baby girl.

Definitely [name]Ruby[/name] [name]Mae[/name].

Ooh I love both but [name]Ruby[/name] [name]Cate[/name] sounds a bit more commanding so it gets my vote. Either way they are both Fabulous.

My vote goes to [name]Ruby[/name] [name]Mae[/name]! But you couldn’t go wrong either way.
