I think we have narrowed our list to [name]Ruby[/name], [name]Maya[/name], and [name]Daphne[/name]. It’s been a giant challenge since by husband and I don’t agree on many names. We’d like to use [name]Alice[/name] as a middle since that my grandmother’s name, she is 100 this year. We have a toddler named [name]Wyatt[/name] and our last name is very common, one syllable, and starts with ‘s’.
What do you guys like best?
[name]Ruby[/name] [name]Alice[/name] S
[name]Maya[/name] [name]Alice[/name] S
[name]Daphne[/name] [name]Alice[/name] S
[name]Ruby[/name] [name]Alice[/name], then [name]Maya[/name] [name]Alice[/name], then [name]Daphne[/name] [name]Alice[/name]. I prefer [name]Delphine[/name] to [name]Daphne[/name].
I’m not crazy about the way [name]Wyatt[/name] and [name]Maya[/name] seem to have the same sound in the middle. “[name]Wyatt[/name] and [name]Ruby[/name]” or “[name]Wyatt[/name] and [name]Daphne[/name]” have a nicer sounds as sibset. My personal preference is [name]Daphne[/name], which sounds softer to me, than [name]Ruby[/name].
I have that same concern, they’re just too similar. [name]Maya[/name] is my husband’s favorite but my least favorite (although I do like it), and interestingly the only one with no votes here! Fun to see everyone’s thoughts.
The -a in [name]Maya[/name] runs into the beginning of [name]Alice[/name], which is enough to strike it from the list, but finding out brother’s name is [name]Wyatt[/name] totally kills it. They’re way too similar.
I think [name]Daphne[/name] is more refined and much more interesting than [name]Ruby[/name], and really like it paired with [name]Alice[/name].
[name]Maya[/name] is my daughter’s name (and my favorite girls name) so it’s hard not to vote for that. [name]Ruby[/name] is my second choice. Good luck!
[name]Ruby[/name] [name]Alice[/name] sounds nicest, but [name]Ruby[/name] is so darn popular, [name]Maya[/name] will have pronunciation issues and [name]Daphne[/name] is simply stunning so there’s that sorted!! I also like [name]Alice[/name] as a fn
[name]Daphne[/name] all the way! I also love [name]Ruby[/name]. They flow equally well in my opinion and both go well with brother [name]Wyatt[/name]. [name]Daphne[/name] is more artsy and refined whereas [name]Ruby[/name] is more bad-girl-in-a-good-way and spunky. I love them both but I think [name]Daphne[/name] is more underused/I just like it more. But I love [name]Ruby[/name] especially with the nickname “[name]Rue[/name]”! Two great choices.
I can’t decide between [name]Daphne[/name] and [name]Ruby[/name]. They are both great. I’m slightly more inclined towards [name]Ruby[/name] as a sibset with [name]Wyatt[/name].
[name]Maya[/name] is out for me with [name]Alice[/name]. The a’s run together.
[name]Maya[/name] [name]Alice[/name] does not flow well because of the a-ending and a-beginning. It’s also less interesting, I feel, than [name]Daphne[/name] or [name]Ruby[/name], both of which go better with [name]Wyatt[/name].
I think [name]Ruby[/name] [name]Alice[/name] probably sounds the nicest, and I think [name]Ruby[/name] definitely goes best with [name]Wyatt[/name].
[name]Daphne[/name] is my favorite of the three names, though, and [name]Daphne[/name] [name]Alice[/name] is still a nice combo. [name]Daphne[/name] works fine with [name]Wyatt[/name], but I think [name]Ruby[/name] is really, really good with it.
Thanks so much for all the feedback. I agree with many if the comments that say [name]Ruby[/name] goes best with [name]Wyatt[/name], but that [name]Daphne[/name] is a great name and is also less common. [name]Ruby[/name] was my favorite forever, but I worry about the trendy factor which I know I also have with [name]Wyatt[/name]. My husband is leaning [name]Daphne[/name] (these comments helped him see that [name]Wyatt[/name] and [name]Maya[/name] really are too matchy, although it’s a lovely name!).
[name]Daphne[/name] and [name]Maya[/name] are my favorites on your list. [name]Ruby[/name] is lovely too though. I think [name]Daphne[/name] works the best.
I agree with others who’ve said the a’s run together in [name]Maya[/name] [name]Alice[/name]. [name]Daphne[/name] and [name]Ruby[/name] are both lovely, but I think I slightly prefer [name]Ruby[/name].
