Rudy? Yes, really!

DH likes [name]Rudy[/name]. A lot. Me? I can’t say I love it-I’m much more of an [name]Oliver[/name], [name]Harry[/name], [name]Linus[/name] fan.

So, what do you think of [name]Rudy[/name]? What style is he? What kind of kid do you picture when you hear [name]Rudy[/name]?

Thanks!

Have you ever watched the film “[name]Rudy[/name]?”

When I think of [name]Rudy[/name] (without associating it with the film), I he sounds like the “all-around” child.
He’s not exactly cool guy but he isn’t geeky either. [name]Rudy[/name] isn’t a classic name. I think this name falls under the Yupster category.

I just think of Mr. Giuliani.

yep, the movie and the mayor. that’s about what i get from it too. but i’m trying, for dh’s sake. oh, how i’m trying!

oh honey you need to use all of the tricks in the book… to convince to not name your kid this…

Not a fan at all, if you don’t like it don’t agree to it. Compromise to something you both like.

[name]Do[/name] you want to give your son only one name (his first name)? Or do you and your husband think you would like a first and a middle?

Perhaps you can make [name]Rudy[/name] your son’s middle name? And if your husband will not settle for that, try looking for another name that matches both of your tastes.

[name]Jude[/name] [name]Law[/name] has a son named [name]Rudy[/name] (his siblings are [name]Rafferty[/name] and [name]Iris[/name], both of which seem more suited to the Nameberry’s crowd’s general taste). It’s not really a personal favorite for me, but I don’t think that there’s anything wrong with it. I do think it may work a tiny bit better as a nickname. [name]Rudolph[/name] may be too reindeery-y (although I think that [name]Rudolph[/name] [name]Valentino[/name] makes for a pretty cool namesake), but I think that [name]Ruben[/name], while a bit of a stretch, could be a possibility.

Haha! I think I’ll put my foot down on [name]Rudy[/name] after all. Dh won’t budge on [name]Harry[/name] (my favorite) so fair’s fair.

Good decision. I picture a cute kid with a bad attitude- and a lot of mean name calling.
I do like the suggestion of [name]Ruben[/name], however… And if your DH is set on [name]Rudy[/name], it’s not THAT far of a stretch…

I seem to be in the minority, but I think [name]Rudy[/name] is really cute. I actually know someone who just named her son [name]Randall[/name], nn [name]Rudy[/name], and I think it’s just adorable.

That said, it’s really important to like the name you give your child so if you don’t like it, your husband will just have to compromise and find something you both feel good about.

[name]Rudy[/name] is actually somewhat popular where I live, its almost always short for [name]Rudolfo[/name]/[name]Rudolpho[/name] so I wouldn’t think it was unusual to meet a little [name]Rudy[/name], I could picture it on a person of age or social status.

I get what people are saying, but it is ok by me too… the movie is a good reference for me and my grandfather was rudolph nn. rudy pre-reindeer. I can see teasing potential, but i think names with the root Ru or Roo are adorable
