Ruminating. . . Commentary appreciated

We are tentatively thinking about having another kid, potentially born summer or fall 2024. I am not trying to ramp up the name talk too quickly . We have 3 sons and a daughter. W@rren, [name_u]Lee[/name_u], [name_m]Hugh[/name_m] and Murie1. I am reworking my list to be the sort of names I would actually suggest to him.

If we have another son, [name_m]Victor[/name_m] has been the one weā€™ve agreed to for a long time.

For a girl I am not sure what weā€™d go with. We had talked about [name_f]Barbara[/name_f] because it is my husbandā€™s great grandmaā€™s name, but he changed his mind because itā€™s a bit too common for old ladies we know and I can see his point - it was his honor name anyway.

I like older, tailored, known but mostly lesser heard sort of names like [name_f]Yvonne[/name_f], [name_f]Frida[/name_f], [name_f]Clarisse[/name_f], [name_f]Martina[/name_f], Paula/Paulina, [name_f]Diana[/name_f], [name_f]Theresa[/name_f], [name_f]Gladys[/name_f]. I like names with a good meaning like [name_f]Muriel[/name_f] means ā€œshining seaā€. I like strong consonant sounds. I do like [name_f]Barbara[/name_f] and [name_f]Gertrude[/name_f] and names like that, but Iā€™m trying to strike a balance here.

[name_f]My[/name_f] husband likes names that feel sort of medieval fantasy like D&D or [name_m]Lord[/name_m] of the Rings to him and also just random names he has good associations with.

He likes names from comics and stuff, heā€™d go [name_f]Talia[/name_f] or [name_f]Selena[/name_f] from Batman I know, but they arenā€™t my favorites. He chose our daughterā€™s middle name, [name_f]Athena[/name_f]. He really likes Murielā€™s name though I am not sure he had ever heard of it before I suggested it- he is not a name nerd. I know he likes [name_f]Nina[/name_f]. [name_u]Pascale[/name_u] is one he brought up and really likes, but I would only use it for a [name_f]Spring[/name_f] born baby. We agreed to [name_f]Leona[/name_f] as a girl name back before we had [name_u]Lee[/name_u].

A couple of thoughts
*Names sort of like his favorites above :Estelle, [name_f]Calla[/name_f], [name_f]Gala[/name_f], [name_f]Galena[/name_f], [name_f]Priscilla[/name_f]

*Nina : uhhh maybe something with [name_f]Nina[/name_f] as a nickname?

*I wonder if [name_f]Gladys[/name_f] would bridge our styles or if itā€™s just me who thinks [name_f]Gladys[/name_f] is so uncommon that it not too elderly?

*I really like and am holding off suggesting [name_f]Estelle[/name_f] for fear he wonā€™t like it. Would both girls with an L ending be weird? Does it sort of blend in too much with all of the Stellaā€™s and Ellieā€™s? I want a distinctive name like [name_f]Muriel[/name_f].

I donā€™t know. . . any thoughts? What else might I put on my suggestions to bring up list?

[name_f]Susan[/name_f]
[name_f]Helen[/name_f]

I love the names of your children!

[name_f]Estelle[/name_f] is a personal favorite, but maybe not quite as distinctive as [name_f]Muriel[/name_f]. I donā€™t think the L ending is a problem! [name_f]Gala[/name_f] and [name_f]Priscilla[/name_f] are my other favorites, and I think they work well with the siblings.

[name_f]Gladys[/name_f] has grown on me, and definitely has the same feel as [name_f]Muriel[/name_f]. It still seems quite elderly to me, though. But in a fun way!

[name_f]My[/name_f] first thought for a full name for [name_f]Nina[/name_f] was [name_f]Antonia[/name_f]. Other ideas: [name_f]Anita[/name_f], [name_f]Junia[/name_f], Apollonia/Apolline, [name_f]Dominica[/name_f], [name_f]Sophronia[/name_f], [name_f]Eugenia[/name_f], [name_f]Capucine[/name_f], [name_f]Pauline[/name_f], [name_f]Berenice[/name_f], [name_f]Lavinia[/name_f], [name_f]Philomena[/name_f], [name_f]Geraldine[/name_f]

Other suggestions:
[name_f]Agatha[/name_f]
[name_f]Augusta[/name_f]
[name_f]Avis[/name_f]
[name_f]Celia[/name_f]
[name_f]Delphine[/name_f]
[name_f]Dinah[/name_f]
[name_f]Elspeth[/name_f]
[name_f]Elvira[/name_f]
[name_f]Enid[/name_f]
[name_f]Hester[/name_f]
[name_f]Hilda[/name_f]
[name_f]Lucinda[/name_f]
[name_f]Petra[/name_f]
[name_f]Roxanne[/name_f]
[name_u]Simone[/name_u]
[name_f]Sybil[/name_f]
[name_f]Tabitha[/name_f]
[name_f]Ursula[/name_f]

Thanks! I really like Irene and Helen. I know that my husband doesnā€™t like Irene because thatā€™s an old favorite that I have asked about before. I wonder if Helen would appeal o him?

@VEL . Iā€™m glad you like Gala. That one gives me a little thrill every time I think of it. I like the multiple meanings, even the common word for a party, but I wonder if it would feel like a downside for the person bearing the name? I like Berenice, Avis, Elvira! , Enid, Roxane and Sybil!

I feel like [name_f]Barbara[/name_f] hits the Batman and granny name scale rather well.

Other suggestions:
[name_f]Doris[/name_f]
[name_f]Glennda[/name_f]
[name_f]Maisel[/name_f]
[name_f]Irene[/name_f]
[name_f]Viveca[/name_f]

Thank you! [name_f]Viveca[/name_f] and [name_f]Doris[/name_f] are good suggestions.

[name_f]Estelle[/name_f] - wonderful, starry name and I donā€™t think the l endings matter - the -elle of [name_f]Estelle[/name_f] and the -el of M- are said differently to me. It has very different vibes to [name_f]Ellie[/name_f] for me, and a sharper feel than [name_f]Stella[/name_f]

[name_f]Calla[/name_f] - pretty, bright and bubbly - not sure itā€™s quite as cohesive as youā€™d like with the other kids - it did however remind me of the similar [name_f]Carla[/name_f]

[name_f]Gala[/name_f] - quite interesting and distinctive like Mā€™s name

[name_f]Galena[/name_f] - not sure I like it - donā€™t find it appealing visually or sound-wise - sorry

[name_f]Priscilla[/name_f] - sharp, distinctive and fits well. I like it

[name_f]Nina[/name_f] is very sweet, charming but with kick! I like it  For something longer, maybe [name_f]Antonina[/name_f], [name_f]Nadine[/name_f], Shanine, [name_f]Noreen[/name_f]
[name_u]Or[/name_u], as a possible idea - [name_f]Wilhelmina[/name_f] nn [name_u]Mina[/name_u]?

[name_f]Gladys[/name_f] - I donā€™t like it, Iā€™m afraid. Itā€™s just a bit harsh and rough for me (plus, I do know a few older Gladysā€™s) I feel like maybe it could grow on me if I thought on it more and I kind of would be excited to meet a little [name_f]Gladys[/name_f]

Some ideas:

[name_f]Frederica[/name_f]
[name_f]Wanda[/name_f]
[name_f]Gwyneth[/name_f]
[name_f]Tamar[/name_f]
[name_f]Gwendolyn[/name_f]
[name_f]Olwen[/name_f]
[name_f]Cynthia[/name_f]
[name_f]Cressida[/name_f]

I think all of these names are completely wonderful!

Have you thought of [name_u]Joan[/name_u] or [name_f]Judith[/name_f] ? Other names I think you may like
[name_f]Agatha[/name_f]
[name_f]Wilma[/name_f]
[name_f]Bernadette[/name_f]

I do love [name_u]Joan[/name_u] and [name_f]Judith[/name_f]! And [name_f]Agatha[/name_f] [name_f]Wilma[/name_f] and [name_f]Bernadette[/name_f] :relaxed: thank you. I have liked them for a while, but never suggested any of them to the husband because I donā€™t think heā€™d go for any. Maybe I should just throw everything at him when weā€™re ready to discuss

I like a lot of these! I was already considering putting [name_f]Victoria[/name_f] or [name_f]Eliza[/name_f] on the list. Good ideas
