Ruthie

Hi lovely berries!

I’ve had [name_f]Ruthie[/name_f] on my list for a while and it’s creeping into my top 5. I think it’s sweet and gentle with lots of meaning. What combos do you like best?

Ruthie [name_f]Maxine[/name_f] makes me SWOON! Two of my most favorite vintage names. I think [name_f]Ruthie[/name_f] [name_f]Florence[/name_f], [name_f]Ruthie[/name_f] [name_f]Caroline[/name_f], and [name_f]Ruthie[/name_f] [name_u]Evelyn[/name_u] are all great too. Each middle name option offers something different to [name_f]Ruthie[/name_f]:

Ruthie [name_f]Maxine[/name_f] - very retro vintage feel (I think 1930’s-50’s). This is an all-American spunky combo with a nicknamey first to match early 20th century naming trends.

Ruthie [name_f]Florence[/name_f] - this has a vintage feel as well but with a classier, more European vibe. [name_f]Florence[/name_f] softens the punchy, playful [name_f]Ruthie[/name_f] and makes it airy and feminine. This is my least favorite, but only because the other options are so spectacular! [name_f]Florence[/name_f] is still a beautiful contender.

Ruthie [name_f]Caroline[/name_f] - this is a classic name to match and balance the “old lady” first name with a more timeless option. It works well if you want to make [name_f]Ruthie[/name_f] a more stable, nicknamey first name. This is my third favorite, as it blends together wonderfully.

Ruthie [name_u]Evelyn[/name_u] - this combines the softness and femininity of [name_f]Florence[/name_f] with the classic feel of [name_f]Caroline[/name_f]. [name_u]Evelyn[/name_u] has the soft vowel with the sharp sound of the v to balance the punchiness of [name_f]Ruth[/name_f] with the playfulness of the nicknamey “ee” sound. This is my second favorite behind [name_f]Maxine[/name_f].

Thank you so much! I didn’t add explanations for the middles, but [name_f]Caroline[/name_f] and [name_u]Evelyn[/name_u] would both be honor names as well and I just happen to love them!

Aw I love that! I’m a big fan of honor names as middles, especially when they flow so well with the first. That definitely makes [name_u]Evelyn[/name_u] my favorite, though you really can’t go wrong with any of them!
