For some reason I’ve been liking the name [name]Ryan[/name] for a girl. What do you think?
I got the idea from someone else who named her daughter [name]Ryan[/name]. When I first learned what her daughter’s name is I thought it was a bit weird, but the idea has grown on me since. Some issues with this name that I thought about would be people thinking that she’s a boy from just knowing the name and her frequently running into boys with the same name (since [name]Ryan[/name] is still quite popular for boys). In fact that happened with me about that girl [name]Ryan[/name] I mentioned; when her mother first mentioned her I thought it was a boy until I found out otherwise.
There’s only a handful of “boy names” that I like for girls, but this is one of them.
Well, if it appeals to you, then use it. I prefer femininsed boys names ([name]Wilhelmina[/name], [name]Josephine[/name], [name]Alanna[/name] etc.) and Since I like odd names, in general ([name]Cosmo[/name]'s my front runner for a boy) and wouldn’t inisist on others using the names I like, how can I say “No, [name]Don[/name]'t”! even though the thought of [name]Ryan[/name] on a sweet little girl makes me frown. I’ve known a female [name]Kyle[/name] and while it made me go “Whaaa?”, she seemed unbothered by it.
So, it’s not my cup of tuna, but if it floats your boat, go for it!
I’ve had a couple of female students named [name]Ryan[/name], though usually with spelling variations like [name]Ryann[/name] or [name]Rian[/name]. Come to think of it, I’ve never had a boy student named [name]Ryan[/name]. Hmm, strange. Anyway, I think it works just fine for a girl.
I personally don’t love [name]Ryan[/name] (or [name]Rianne[/name] or Rhyanne) for a girl. I do think if you choose it, you should spell it in a way that people expect ([name]Ryan[/name]) and if you want to up the feminine feeling, give her a flowery middle name like:
Although it is a little too unisex for me it does work for a girl . . . . I think because it sounds like the whole Rhiannin, [name]Brianna[/name], [name]Brianne[/name], [name]Brynn[/name] thing plus there is the whole [name]Kyla[/name] thing. [name]Brian[/name], [name]Ryan[/name] and [name]Kyle[/name] are sounding more girly because of those names I think. If that makes any sense at all
I [name]LOVE[/name] [name]Ryan[/name] for a girl!!! My friend has two daugther and one of them is named [name]Ryan[/name] (the other is [name]Jordan[/name])
I would consider using it if my friend didnt use it!
I would just give her an ultra feminine middle name :]
I don’t know how popular [name]Ryan[/name] has been in the rest of the country, but in L.A. it was really popular for many years and now is dying out. It was especially popular with the ultra-athletic families. If I were a little girl, I would rather have a more feminine name than that. My daughter and all her friends love clothes from Anthropologie (not that they get them all the time in this economy), they love elaborate mini chandeliers and white French Regency bedroom furniture. So I think it’s a good idea to name a daughter something at least like [name]Cameron[/name] which is a boy’s name but it sounds like [name]Camille[/name] and [name]Camilla[/name]. But my daughter and her friends wouldn’t even like [name]Cameron[/name]. They like names like [name]Catherine[/name] and [name]Anna[/name] and [name]Aurora[/name]!
[name]Ryan[/name] is an okay name for a girl, but is gaining popularity. [name]Just[/name] think, this is a little baby girl we are talking about so maybe
think of an alernative- [name]Riana[/name] is cute but [name]Rhian[/name] Is the total package! In my opinion, go for [name]Rhian[/name].
I’ve actually met a girl named [name]Ryan[/name]. She was about nine years old and me and my cousin were on the playground and we talked to her. So my impression of the name is good through association.
[name]Ryan[/name]'s actually been growing on use for girls. It was ranked 575 on the SSA charts for 2011 with 503 babies being born with the name So its definitely not unheard of and if you like it, I’d use it.
Personally though, I don’t care for it. It is a guilty pleasure name of mine, really cute. But I feel like its best left for boys. Thats just my opinion though
