I want something pretty but unique, not too out there. Open to other suggestions as well!
I love [name_f]Sable[/name_f] and [name_f]Theodora[/name_f]! [name_f]Odessa[/name_f] is pretty but I prefer the other two
I was brainstorming combos earlier and came up with [name_f]Sable[/name_f] [name_f]Theodora[/name_f] and then you posted this not long after so I thought that was a fun coincidence
- [name_f]Theodora[/name_f]
- [name_m]Teddie[/name_m]
- [name_f]Sable[/name_f]
- [name_f]Odessa[/name_f] (this one feels insensitive to me personally)
I love the classic, historic yet on-trend romantic vibes of [name_f]Theodora[/name_f]!
Insensitive to…? I’m Ukrainian and Hungarian, I’ve loved the name since hearing it from Battleship Potemkin! Is there a history I’m unaware of?
It’s fine then if you’re Ukrainian! I’ve heard other Ukrainians say they dislike the use of the name with the Russian double S spelling over the native [name_f]Odesa[/name_f] spelling but if it’s your own heritage then it’s for you to decide(:
My favourite is [name_f]Theodora[/name_f] ‘Teddie’ ![]()
[name_f]Sable[/name_f] feels like a stylish sleek choice almost brandish in style I could envision a high fashion couture design being named ‘Sable’. I can see the appeal however isn’t my favourite. Concerning [name_f]Odessa[/name_f] I think she’s beautiful, powerful and graceful choice but I think given current climate is insensitive. It was @persephonescrown response to [name_f]Odessa[/name_f] that really opened my eyes to how the name could be read which has provided this opinion surrounding her usability. [name_m]The[/name_m] insensitivity I’ve heard is in relation to the Ukrainian war and current political climate. Still I also think this depends entirely on your heritage. You’re Ukrainian then embrace the name for sure! Personally I can see it as a lovely way to pay homage to your heritage/culture/country. I just think for a non-Ukrainian it may not be the right choice.
Still my number one choice is [name_f]Theodora[/name_f]! I think [name_f]Theodora[/name_f] is absolutely stunning she’s warm, has pretty cottagecore imagery, a lovely meaning and feels strong. [name_f]Adore[/name_f] the nickname [name_m]Teddie[/name_m] too.
I really like [name_f]Sable[/name_f] and [name_f]Theodora[/name_f]!
Similar alternatives you might like are [name_f]Sayla[/name_f] or [name_f]Sabine[/name_f] and [name_f]Theodosia[/name_f] or [name_f]Dorothea[/name_f]
I also think the nickname of Teddie/Teddy is cute.
Alternative to [name_f]Odessa[/name_f]: [name_f]Odette[/name_f], [name_f]Odelia[/name_f], [name_f]Ophelia[/name_f], [name_f]Iridessa[/name_f]

I love [name_f]Odessa[/name_f]
I like [name_f]Theodora[/name_f] best.
I like [name_f]Odessa[/name_f] and [name_f]Theodora[/name_f] (Teddie). I’ve done a lot of historical/genealogical research in my area (southeastern US), and [name_f]Odessa[/name_f] was fairly popular around 1900-1920. US stats will back this up. It’s not exclusively tied to Eastern [name_f]Europe[/name_f].
Odessa feels like it meets your brief well – strong and pretty, unique but familiar, and comes with several nicknames – Odie, Dessie, Essie, Ossie, Dodie… and seems tied to your heritage too!
I also really like Theodora – clunky yet elegant, more cool nickname options, familiar but unexpected, very wearable too.
