Hello!
I’m looking for thoughts on the name Sadie.
Hello!
I’m looking for thoughts on the name Sadie.
I love the combo [name_f]Sadie[/name_f] [name_f]Lorraine[/name_f]. I do know of two dogs named [name_f]Sadie[/name_f], and you should know that you’ll probably be told that for a while, but so what? I also know dogs named [name_f]Sophie[/name_f], [name_m]Thomas[/name_m], [name_f]Lily[/name_f], [name_f]Maxine[/name_f], [name_u]Charley[/name_u] and so on. I don’t love that people are just using their favorite “people names” for dogs but it’s happening so I don’t think any name is safe. [name_f]Sadie[/name_f] is nicknamey but that is very of the moment right now so I don’t think it will bother her in her personal or professional life later on. She’ll be surrounded by many peers that also have nicknames as full names. I also really like how [name_f]Lorraine[/name_f] is meaningful to you, and so unexpected in the middle. Beautiful choice- don’t doubt it
[name_f]Love[/name_f] it! I too am looking for a first name to go with [name_f]Lorraine[/name_f] as a middle. [name_f]Sadie[/name_f] is a good choice. Is it officially a nickname of [name_f]Sarah[/name_f]?
I love the combo [name_f]Sadie[/name_f] [name_f]Lorraine[/name_f] !! I think [name_f]Sadie[/name_f] is a spunky and sweet! [name_f]Sadie[/name_f] [name_f]Lorraine[/name_f] is a beautiful name!
I like [name_f]Sadie[/name_f]. I wouldn’t worry about it being the name of a dog, unless it’s a dog you see all the time.
[name_f]Sadie[/name_f] [name_f]Lorraine[/name_f] is a very cool combo. If you wanted [name_f]Sadie[/name_f] as a nickname, what about:
[name_f]Sarafina[/name_f]
[name_u]Cassidy[/name_u]
[name_f]Sabrina[/name_f]
[name_f]Cassandra[/name_f]
Personally, I think [name_f]Sadie[/name_f] sounds nice on it’s own though.
I am due in a few weeks with a daughter, and we plan to name her [name_f]Sadie[/name_f], as well. I have the same concerns you do, and have been obsessively following threads about the name since we decided on it. I keep mentioning these concerns to my husband, and he thinks they are all very minor and not a big deal, and that it will work well on an adult. The dog thing doesn’t bother me at all, because like someone else mentioned, other popular dog names are also common for kids. So that would be my response if people say anything. My husband has loved it since I suggested it to him months ago, and I love it, too, so our mind is made up!
I like it, and the combo is really nice. It has a flow that would be hard to replicate.
I totally agree with katemcnamelover about the trend to use favorite people names for dogs. I work in animal care, and my dog clients have names like [name_u]Charlie[/name_u] (2 of them), [name_u]Riley[/name_u], [name_f]Zoe[/name_f], [name_m]Oliver[/name_m], [name_f]Maizie[/name_f], etc. While I like the names, I totally don’t get the urge to give common people names to dogs. My animals are family, but they are also… well, animals!! They have the wonderful privilege of never needing to fill out SS forms or tolerate name bullying at the playground. We also get to meet them before bestowing the names, in most cases. Why waste that opportunity to give out really descriptive, unique, fun names?? (My dogs are [name_m]Pippin[/name_m] and Strider, ftr.)
Um, anyway, sorry for the rant! I don’t have any Sadies, actually… but if I did, it wouldn’t change my opinion. As for the word associations, they never crossed my mind at all. It’s just not the feel I get from the name when I read/say it. I get strong name imagery from this choice, actually: someone very loving and warm, with colors of caramel and the tiger’s eye stone. Whether that’s hair, skin, eyes-- I don’t know, I just see those colors.
I think you should go for it.
I like [name_f]Sadie[/name_f] [name_f]Lorraine[/name_f]! really nice flow! =) This is the best combo I have seen for [name_f]Sadie[/name_f]
I love [name_f]Lorraine[/name_f], but I was never a fan of [name_f]Sadie[/name_f].
[name_f]Sadie[/name_f] [name_f]Lorraine[/name_f] is such a cute combo. Spunky and sweet. : )
[name_f]Sadie[/name_f] [name_f]Lorraine[/name_f] is a great name combo! I know animals named [name_f]Sophie[/name_f], [name_f]Gracie[/name_f], [name_m]Frank[/name_m], and [name_f]Lily[/name_f] so I wouldn’t worry about it being an animal name. I don’t think she’ll get made of.
I love it! I am a big [name_f]Sadie[/name_f] fan.
[name_f]Sadie[/name_f] [name_f]Lorraine[/name_f] is beautiful and upbeat, I say go for it!
[name_f]Sadie[/name_f] [name_f]Lorraine[/name_f] is lovely. Spunky and elegant. If we use [name_f]Isadora[/name_f], we plan on calling her [name_f]Sadie[/name_f]. I wouldn’t worry about people having pets named [name_f]Sadie[/name_f]. As long as you don’t use Mittens or Fido for a child, it’s fine. It feels a little nicknamey perhaps, but not so much that it doesn’t sound professional.
My dogs name is [name_f]Sadie[/name_f], and my middle name is [name_f]Lorraine[/name_f]. I love it. <3
Much agreed.
Thanks for the reassurance! Berries are so helpful
I’ve always liked [name_f]Sadie[/name_f] and I’ve always had the same “is it a dog name” thought. I’ve decided it doesn’t matter. I love [name_m]Felix[/name_m] which a lot of people thinkof/use as a cat name and I wouldn’t let that stop me. I have a dog named [name_f]Zoey[/name_f] which is a “human name” but that didn’t stop me from using it on my adopted pup who was left in a box with her brothers in below freezing temperatures. I picked [name_f]Zoey[/name_f] for it’s meaning. I think if you [name_f]LOVE[/name_f] a name you should use it. [name_f]Sadie[/name_f] [name_f]Lorraine[/name_f] is literally one of the best combos I’ve ever seen. I absolutely love it. Congrats on finding such a beautiful name!
Beautiful! [name_f]Sadie[/name_f] is perfectly adorable and spunky, and then [name_f]Lorraine[/name_f] gives it an added dose of sophistication.
Ooh, love. [name_f]Lorraine[/name_f] is beautiful. Makes me think of [name_f]Lorraine[/name_f] Hansberry (A Raisin in the [name_f]Sun[/name_f]). And [name_f]Sadie[/name_f] is super sweet. I named my cat [name_f]Zadie[/name_f] after [name_f]Zadie[/name_f] [name_m]Smith[/name_m]. People use people names for pets all the time, I wouldn’t worry.
