We’re currently ttc baby number 3 and I’ve been crushing on Sadie lately. Our two sons are Levi and Griffin. My questions are 1) is Sadie overused? I haven’t heard it much in our area (lots of Avas, Averys, Sophies, Ellas, etc). 2) is Sadie more of a dog’s name than a baby’s name?
Happy to hear your thoughts and any Sadie combos you love. Right now I love Sadie Genevieve <3
I’ve never been much of a [name_f]Sadie[/name_f] fan. It’s an ok name, but I like other names better. It’s all up to you at the end of the day. I love the names [name_u]Levi[/name_u] and [name_m]Griffen[/name_m]!
I think Sadie is lovely! It’s quite popular but it’s never gone above #46 in terms of baby girl name popularity, so it’s definitely not near the level of Ava, Sophia/Sophie and Ella, all of which have been in the top 15.
It’s not a dog name to me at all - it may be popular for dogs, but it’s just as popular for real babies! So it’s no “Cookie” or “Blu”. I think it’s a very sweet name that’s familiar but not boring. Sadie Genevieve is great, I love the idea of using a longer, more unique middle name for Sadie!
I also like the sound of Sadie Francesca, Sadie Beatrix, Sadie Helena, Sadie Clementine, Sadie Josephine, Sadie Juniper, Sadie Leonora, Sadie Magonlia, Sadie Marigold, Sadie Ophelia, Sadie Primrose, Sadie Rhiannon & Sadie Valentine to name a few!
I think [name_f]Sadie[/name_f] [name_f]Genevieve[/name_f] is beautiful and goes well with your sons’ names! I don’t personally know any Sadies and my first thought isn’t “dog”, it’s [name_f]Sadie[/name_f] [name_m]Robertson[/name_m]
I love love love [name_f]Sadie[/name_f] [name_f]Genevieve[/name_f]. So pretty!
I have personally only known two Sadie’s in my life. One was human, one was a dog. Both were beautiful souls! I personally would not hesitate to use it based off of the fact it is sometimes used for pets, and it does not seem popular in my area (Midwest US).
I also think it goes extremely well with your boys’ names.
[name_f]Sadie[/name_f] is okay it’s just not a favorite of mine. I do think there are a lot of pets named [name_f]Sadie[/name_f] but anything could be a pet name so I wouldn’t really let that bother you. Ultimately, it’s whatever you love and [name_f]Sadie[/name_f] is still a lovely choice. I also like [name_f]Zadie[/name_f]- as a quirkier variant.
I’ve never met a [name_f]Sadie[/name_f] irl. I associate it with classy it girls - [name_f]Sadie[/name_f] [name_u]Frost[/name_u], [name_f]Sadie[/name_f] Sink, etc. It was one of the earlier examples of that classy vintage quality that’s now popular with many Berries (myself included) so I can see how you’d think of it as overused, but in the everyday I think it’s still an offbeat gem.
[name_f]Sadie[/name_f] [name_f]Genevieve[/name_f] is a darling combo for it, and I think [name_u]Levi[/name_u], [name_u]Griffin[/name_u] & [name_f]Sadie[/name_f] make for a great sibset
I’ve known many people who were just [name_f]Sadie[/name_f], and I think it’s super cute! If [name_f]Bella[/name_f] can be used alone, [name_f]Sadie[/name_f] can too, and it is most definitely not a dog’s name! I love the combos of [name_f]Sadie[/name_f] [name_f]Jane[/name_f], [name_f]Sadie[/name_f] [name_f]Mae[/name_f], and [name_f]Sadie[/name_f] [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f], but I also adore [name_f]Sadie[/name_f] [name_f]Genevieve[/name_f]!
It’s an OK name, but if the popularity is the question, I would add Sara/Sarah to the popularity of [name_f]Sadie[/name_f] because it is a nn for this.
In real life I can think of three human Sadies (for sure one of these is a [name_f]Sarah[/name_f] who goes by Sadie) and two dog Sadies. I really like the name and while (at least in my area - Atlantic Canada) it does see some use among dogs, it’s certainly a name that people are still using. I don’t consider it overused, and I think [name_f]Sadie[/name_f] [name_f]Genevieve[/name_f] is lovely!
[name_f]Sadie[/name_f] is gorgeous. I don’t consider it a pet name not overused at all! I only know one [name_f]Sadie[/name_f], who’s my age (19). I think [name_f]Sadie[/name_f] is a perfectly kicky, sparky, and darling name. [name_f]Vintage[/name_f] roots with a modern, nicknamey appeal. Fits a range of personalities and styles. Looks and sounds so so fun!
[name_f]Sadie[/name_f] [name_f]Genevieve[/name_f] is a lovely pairing. Striking. Here’s what come to mind for me as I think of [name_f]Sadie[/name_f] combos…
[name_f]Josephine[/name_f]
[name_f]Nell[/name_f]
[name_f]Alice[/name_f]
[name_f]Frances[/name_f]
[name_f]Marybeth[/name_f]
[name_f]Leona[/name_f]
[name_f]Harriet[/name_f]
[name_f]Morag[/name_f]
[name_f]Lilith[/name_f] or [name_f]Lillian[/name_f]
[name_f]Kate[/name_f]
[name_f]Meg[/name_f]
[name_f]Violet[/name_f]
[name_f]Lydia[/name_f]
[name_f]Pearl[/name_f]
[name_u]Juniper[/name_u]
[name_u]Willow[/name_u]
[name_f]Fiona[/name_f]
[name_u]Campbell[/name_u]
[name_u]Reese[/name_u] (the [name_f]Sadie[/name_f] I know has this as her middle!)
[name_f]Claire[/name_f]
[name_u]Victory[/name_u]
[name_f]Maeve[/name_f]
[name_u]Florence[/name_u]
[name_f]Viola[/name_f]
[name_f]Evangeline[/name_f]
I don’t think it’s overused or a dogs name. I’d expect it to increase in popularity due to [name_f]Sadie[/name_f] Sink of Stranger Things, but by how much who knows. It’s sweet yet spunky with quirky vintage appeal and fits all ages.
Honestly I think [name_f]Sadie[/name_f] is such a lovely sweet vintage name really bright, happy, full of energy and nostalgic charm. I see that [name_f]Sadie[/name_f] is being discussed more, becoming more popular but I wouldn’t say to the level of [name_f]Sophia[/name_f]. [name_f]Sadie[/name_f] feels to a similar level to [name_u]Griffin[/name_u] & [name_u]Levi[/name_u] in the popularity stakes in my opinion so I think she works well. Actually [name_u]Griffin[/name_u], [name_u]Levi[/name_u] & [name_f]Sadie[/name_f] feel very cohesive. Concerning the dog situation I wouldn’t say [name_f]Sadie[/name_f] is specifically a dog name but I know dogs called [name_f]Sadie[/name_f]. However dogs do get called a variety of different things my family dog is [name_u]Vivian[/name_u]! I wouldn’t overthink this. [name_f]Sadie[/name_f] [name_f]Genevieve[/name_f] is beautiful such an elegant name really classic and sassy. I love this name!
I also really like [name_f]Sadie[/name_f] [name_f]Clementine[/name_f]
[name_f]Sadie[/name_f] is my name and I love it! It was incredibly unique when I was younger so I did get a few comments like “that’s my dog’s name” or “my grandma’s name is Sadie” but with it being more common now, I don’t hear those comments anymore. Additionally, I am a dog walker and have been for over 7 years now and I have only ever met two dogs named [name_f]Sadie[/name_f]. [name_u]Charlie[/name_u], [name_f]Callie[/name_f], [name_u]Max[/name_u], and [name_f]Molly[/name_f] are much more common than [name_f]Sadie[/name_f], at least in my area.
I guess what I’m saying is [name_f]Sadie[/name_f] is great and use it if you like it. [name_f]Sadie[/name_f] [name_f]Genevieve[/name_f] is beautiful.
[name_f]Sadie[/name_f] [name_f]Marissa[/name_f]
[name_f]Sadie[/name_f] [name_f]Roxanne[/name_f]
[name_f]Sadie[/name_f] [name_f]Veronica[/name_f]
[name_f]Sadie[/name_f] [name_u]Bliss[/name_u]
[name_f]Sadie[/name_f] [name_f]Cassandra[/name_f]
[name_f]Sadie[/name_f] [name_f]Bernadette[/name_f]
[name_f]Sadie[/name_f] [name_f]Helen[/name_f]
We have a lot of kiddos in our life and we only have one [name_f]Sadie[/name_f] , who is a preteen now !
I do know a few pet Sadie’s but I don’t think it detracts from the name !
I considered [name_f]Sadie[/name_f] for our first , but he ended up being a boy … unfortunately we can’t use it now due to a celebrity who would share the same name !
I think [name_f]Sadie[/name_f] compliments [name_u]Levi[/name_u] and [name_u]Griffin[/name_u] so well.
I think [name_f]Sadie[/name_f] is beautiful and love [name_f]Sadie[/name_f] [name_f]Genevieve[/name_f]. I have never met a person or animal with this name either (I live in northeast US).
