What do you think of [name_f]Saffron[/name_f], nickname Saffy? I’ve always liked it, but I’m curious to see what other Berries think.
I like it, but I dislike the nickname Saffy. [name_f]Saffron[/name_f] on its own though has spunk and character with a nice floral flare.
I love [name_f]Saffron[/name_f]! I’ve asked this question on Nameberry before and received predominantly negative feedback. Most people associate the name strongly with the spice, but I think it’s such a cute name. Too bad my husband doesn’t like it.
@sarahmezz I know right! I read a book a while ago with a main character named [name_f]Saffron[/name_f], and I fell in love with it.
It makes me think of AbFab but I quite like it
Saffy is such a cute nickname.
[name_f]Love[/name_f] [name_f]Saffron[/name_f], but Saffy sounds a little silly…no nn needed!
I like it. I’ve been thinking of putting it on my middle name list for a while. I don’t love the nickname Saffy, though I think it’s usable.
I find I am really liking [name_f]Saffron[/name_f] - it has a distinctive flair that other nature names tend to mellow over.
I’m just mad about [name_f]Saffron[/name_f]… [name_f]Saffron[/name_f]'s mad about me…
No, seriously, it’s a cool name. Saffy not so much. I don’t think [name_f]Saffron[/name_f] really needs a nickname. The spice itself comes from the crocus plant (little purple flowers that pop up through the snow in early [name_f]Spring[/name_f]) so Crocus might work as a once in a while nickname. Crocus, Crocodile, Fronzie… :-b [name_f]Flora[/name_f]? [name_f]Goldie[/name_f], since saffron’s golden yellow?
I really, really like [name_f]Saffron[/name_f]. Saffy as a nickname is cute, but it makes me think of my Egyptian friend, Saffie, which is pronounced with an “ahh” sound (as in, not the short a in ant, but like… autopsy… oh lawdy, is it bad that’s the first word that came to mind with that phonetic sound??) Anyways, [name_f]Saffron[/name_f] is lovely.
I love it! It was on our list but didn’t flow well with our last name.
I don’t mind the nickname Saffy, but it doesn’t rock my world either. I love one pp’s suggestion of using the nn [name_f]Goldie[/name_f], that is so unexpected but adorable.
