Sagely?

What do you think of Sagely for a girl?

I usually really like -ly names for girls, but I’m not a huge fan of Sagely. I misread it at first as Safely, and it seems unnecessary to me to lengthen Sage (which feels pretty solid/substantial on its own). It also feels too much like a word to me, like calling a child wisely or kindly.
I much prefer Sage on its own, which I think is very lovely

It looks a bit awkward to me

I quite like Sage but must admit I initially read this as Sag-ly, I think it’s a bit of a mouthful

Sagely feels like it belongs to the trend of -lee and -leigh girl names. For example, [name_u]Blakelee[/name_u], [name_f]Charleigh[/name_f], etc. It would fit right in.

I dislike those names so I can’t say I’m a big fan.

It is a word…. Reminds me a bit of [name_u]Everly[/name_u].

It’s interesting because Sage/Saige is my all time favorite name for girls but I strongly dislike Sagely. It just doesn’t seem like a name.

The sound is really cool (I prefer this over just Sage) and I like the meaning but unfortunately it does make me think of the word ‘strangely’.

I much prefer [name_u]Sage[/name_u]. Sagely feels quite faux to me.

Sagely seems like an attempt to cutesify [name_u]Sage[/name_u]. I’d keep it at [name_u]Sage[/name_u] if there was a choice between the two.

I’m not into it. It sounds made up to be cool.
It’s also quite a descriptor to put on a person.

Sounds like an adverb. “She looked at me sagely”.

I will go countercurrent and say I actually like Sagely! Mostly because it looks good written on paper but also does not sound that bad for me. I prefer it to [name_u]Everly[/name_u] and [name_f]Charleigh[/name_f] for example but if it looks too “trendy” or “awkward” for you you can use it as a middle.

Sagely is better than many other choices you see nowadays like “Jaxlyn” (for me, personal opinion) anyways and I like it (sort of). So use it! :green_heart:

I love [name_u]Sage[/name_u], don’t like Sagely. It just feels off and while it’s a word, I don’t think it should become a name.

It is!

:snail: hah!

I don’t hate it. The issue for me would be I think everyone would think first and middle (or double barrel) as [name_u]Sage[/name_u] [name_u]Lee[/name_u]. I think it would end up being something that SHOULD be easy but becomes a pain for you and the little named person.

It looks like an adverb, I don’t think it works

It’s an adverb to me, not a name.

I prefer just [name_u]Sage[/name_u]. With Sagely my first thought is “to nod sagely” and my second is “saggily”. The former is OK, but the latter would put me off.
