I’m in a similar situation. This name, while totally outside fo my typical style, is one I really like! It’s bright, cheery, strong, and pretty badass! That said, while [name_u]Saylor[/name_u] has grown on me from “I really hate this!” to “that’s alright,” I still much prefer [name_u]Sailor[/name_u]. There are a host of other occupational names, and I think maintaining the original spelling helps them stay true to character.
My little sister’s name is [name_u]Saylor[/name_u] and while both spellings are nice, I love how hers is spelled. We get compliments on it a lot and I love it.
I prefer [name_u]Sailor[/name_u] on a boy and [name_u]Saylor[/name_u] on a girl. Absolutely no reason why. And it’s actually a name I like equally either way.
I love [name_u]Sailor[/name_u] for a boy, but I admit, I’m not hugely fond of [name_u]Sailor[/name_u] or [name_u]Saylor[/name_u] for a girl, sorry, lovely!
I really like [name_u]Sailor[/name_u]! [name_u]Saylor[/name_u] feels too made up to me personally, though I can see why people like it! It is very cute.
Thank you all very much!
[name_u]Saylor[/name_u] is my favourite of the two, but for that pronunciation, I adore [name_f]Selah[/name_f].
I’m rather partial to [name_u]Sailor[/name_u]! It strikes me as a perky, peppy, cute, tomboyish name, in the same vein as [name_u]Scout[/name_u], [name_u]Piper[/name_u], [name_u]Fifer[/name_u] et al. It’s certainly my preferred spelling between these two.
[name_u]Sailor[/name_u] is an occupational word name, while [name_u]Saylor[/name_u] feels like a surname name, to me. I would only use a surname name if it were a family name for me, so I vastly prefer [name_u]Sailor[/name_u] for anyone who doesn’t find [name_u]Saylor[/name_u] in their family tree; however, if [name_u]Saylor[/name_u] was a family name, I’d vote for it over [name_u]Sailor[/name_u].
