I’m not Italian, but I really love the name [name_m]Salvatore[/name_m] (nn [name_u]Sal[/name_u]). Could it work in the UK?
The biggest issue with [name_m]Salvatore[/name_m] in the UK would be that most British people are likely to pronounce it with three syllables instead of the Italian four. If having to correct people on the pronunciation doesn’t bother you, then I see no reason why it couldn’t work.
As I like both pronunciations, for once I don’t think this would bother me too much.
I’m not in the UK, but in the US, your biggest issue would be people thinking you named your kid after the brothers on The Vampire Diaries. If it’s not as popular over there, though, I wouldn’t worry about it: Mad Men warmed me up to the name, and [name_u]Sal[/name_u] is a charming nickname 
The Vampire Diaries didn’t even cross my mind, but then I am not a fan. I don’t believe it is quite as popular here or at least not where I live.
I’m thinking of either TVD or the new [name_f]Lana[/name_f] del [name_u]Rey[/name_u] song (which is beautiful, btw). Though maybe it isn’t a bad thing bc people will be more likely to pronounce it right.
I think it’s dashing, but it would be weird on a non-Italian.

I did wonder if it would be weird, but then a lot of popular names here are foreign so I hoped it wouldn’t matter.
I like it. I immediately think of the Vampire Diaries tho. I think it’s fine to use names outside your hertiage or ethnicity, I don’t find it strange or werid.
Great, so I’m not alone then. TVD isn’t an issue for me as it’s not well known in my area.
