Samson?

What do you think of the name [name_m]Samson[/name_m]? Any suggestions for sibling names, boy or girl? I’m kind of stuck. He would be called [name_u]Sam[/name_u], which I’m considering using independently as a name as well. Thanks!

[name_m]Samson[/name_m] would be too biblical for me but it’s definitely a usable name. I really like the nn [name_u]Sam[/name_u] or [name_u]Sammy[/name_u].

I like it however I would read the biblical story first. [name_m]Samson[/name_m] is betrayed often and then dies a horribly sad death.

I love the [name_f]Regina[/name_f] Spektor song (literally, one of my favourite songs), but I’m not fond of the sound. However, I think it would be a handsome choice, though not for me - I would delighted to meet a little [name_m]Samson[/name_m] ever (and would probably serenade him with a few lines from the song  )

[name_m]Samson[/name_m] is a great name! I think it works with a wide variety of sibling names. It’s handsome, heard of, but not over-used, and has a great nick name. It hits that sweet-spot that a lot of parents search for. I wouldn’t worry too much about the biblical connection. My name is [name_f]Leah[/name_f], and my biblical namesake isn’t really a great character. But, that doesn’t have an impact on who I am.

[name_m]Samson[/name_m] and [name_f]Amelia[/name_f]
[name_m]Samson[/name_m] and [name_f]Iris[/name_f]
[name_m]Samson[/name_m] and [name_f]Fiona[/name_f]
[name_m]Samson[/name_m] and [name_f]Juliet[/name_f]
[name_m]Samson[/name_m] and [name_f]Clara[/name_f]

[name_m]Samson[/name_m] and [name_m]Vincent[/name_m]
[name_m]Samson[/name_m] and [name_m]Ezra[/name_m]
[name_m]Samson[/name_m] and [name_m]Wyatt[/name_m]
[name_m]Samson[/name_m] and [name_m]Ethan[/name_m]
[name_m]Samson[/name_m] and [name_m]Oliver[/name_m]
[name_m]Samson[/name_m] and [name_m]Philip[/name_m]
[name_m]Samson[/name_m] and [name_m]Jasper[/name_m]

Thanks for the input everyone!

I think [name_m]Samson[/name_m] is very nice. I like the sound better than [name_m]Samuel[/name_m] (always been a bit too mule-ish for me). And the -son ending feels modern now. It doesn’t feel overly Biblical to me, especially with so many people using names like [name_m]Elijah[/name_m], [name_u]Micah[/name_u], and [name_m]Tobias[/name_m]. But if you’re not excited about it feeling a little Biblical I’d keep away from other Biblical namesakes for mn’s and siblings.

It has a sort of [name_f]Indie[/name_f] feel to me so maybe siblings like:
[name_m]Anders[/name_m]
[name_u]Nico[/name_u]
[name_m]Jonas[/name_m]
[name_m]Rufus[/name_m]
[name_u]Rowan[/name_u]
[name_f]Anthea[/name_f]
[name_f]Ingrid[/name_f]
[name_f]Lorelei[/name_f]
[name_f]Imogen[/name_f]

I actually really like [name_u]Sam[/name_u] as nickname, but I’m not a fan of [name_m]Samson[/name_m] and [name_m]Samuel[/name_m].

I’ve always liked [name_f]Imogen[/name_f] and [name_f]Linnea[/name_f]! I’m glad others think they might be useable with [name_m]Samson[/name_m].
And [name_f]Keziah[/name_f] is a name I [name_f]LOVE[/name_f], but it’s a GP only for me.
And I’m not so interested in the biblical aspect (I know most people have commented on that).I know he doesn’t have the most positive story, however, for me it’s a family name. And I’m looking to see if it’s actually useable. I like these suggestions!

If you love [name_f]Keziah[/name_f] maybe you would like [name_f]Cassia[/name_f]?

I’ve often thought the same thing, but for some reason [name_f]Cassia[/name_f] just doesn’t quite hit the mark for some reason.

I really like [name_m]Samson[/name_m], and I think it’s a much fresher way of getting to [name_u]Sam[/name_u] than the perennially popular [name_m]Samuel[/name_m]. It’s hits that great sweet spot of being recognizable but uncommon. Totally usable.

It makes me think of other recognizable but not super common names like [name_m]Gideon[/name_m], [name_m]Ezra[/name_m], [name_m]Felix[/name_m], [name_f]Camille[/name_f], [name_f]Helena[/name_f], [name_f]Daphne[/name_f], etc.

Thanks! I like [name_m]Ezra[/name_m] and [name_m]Gideon[/name_m]!

love [name_m]Samson[/name_m], you’ve still got [name_u]Sam[/name_u] but he won’t be one of the 5 or so [name_m]Samuel[/name_m]'s in his class

[name_m]Samson[/name_m] is gorgeous, even with the nn [name_u]Sam[/name_u]! Use it!

Thanks, everyone! Great feedback!
