I prefer [name_u]Sasha[/name_u]!
[name_u]Sasha[/name_u] for me - it looks more appealing and it’s obvious how it’s pronounced
For some reason, which might be completely arbitrary, I associate [name_u]Sasha[/name_u] with girls and [name_u]Sacha[/name_u] with boys. I like both though!
[name_u]Sasha[/name_u] looks more appealing.
[name_u]Sacha[/name_u]; it looks slightly more masculine to me.
[name_u]Sasha[/name_u] is more of a clear spelling to me.
[name_u]Sasha[/name_u] without a doubt. [name_u]Sacha[/name_u] looks very unnatural to me, it also makes no sense. I’d pronounce it differently than [name_u]Sasha[/name_u].
I used to prefer [name_u]Sacha[/name_u], but I actually think [name_u]Sasha[/name_u] is better. I also like it spelled [name_u]Sascha[/name_u], but I do think it looks a little over complicated.
While I agree that the name “[name_u]Sasha[/name_u]” seems more unisex than specifically masculine, the spelling “[name_u]Sacha[/name_u]” bothers me as a [name_m]German[/name_m] speaker, since it would be pronounced differently than what you are going for. This might be a non-issue depending on where you live, but just know that the pronunciation won’t be intuitive for everyone
P.S. in Germany the name is typically spelled “[name_u]Sascha[/name_u]” - this might look weird to other people though! I find it looks more masculine than [name_u]Sasha[/name_u].
As a follow up to my previous comment: I think the reasons why I feel like [name_u]Sasha[/name_u] looks unisex or even leans feminine are because of [name_u]Sasha[/name_u] [name_m]Obama[/name_m] and because of the name’s visual similarity to the girl’s name [name_f]Saskia[/name_f]. The “h” in [name_u]Sasha[/name_u] could almost be morphed into a “ki” and I think that’s what my eye tends to pick up on.
Oh i can’t vote… I love them both
I actually like [name_u]Sascha[/name_u] best but out of the two options, [name_u]Sasha[/name_u]
Thanks all.
[name_u]Sasha[/name_u] has always been my favourite — as you say, it seems like the most straightforward — but lately I’ve been liking [name_u]Sacha[/name_u] (the [name_m]French[/name_m] spelling) a lot too.
[name_u]Sacha[/name_u] is actually more popular than [name_u]Sasha[/name_u] where I live, I suspect partly due to the influence of [name_u]Sacha[/name_u] [name_m]Baron[/name_m] [name_m]Cohen[/name_m] and the predominance of the [name_u]Sasha[/name_u] spelling for girls.
[name_u]Sascha[/name_u] is great too, but yes: unnecessarily complicated in an anglophone environment.
I think I’ll stick with [name_u]Sasha[/name_u] for now
