SASKIA, MILLA AND ?????

[name]Hi[/name] guys, I have been obsessively visiting NB with the hope of finding a perfect name for my 3rd child. I am incredibly fussy! Now I feel it’s time to ask for help from some of you professionals. I feel like I have heard every name, but I’m sure that’s not true. So here goes… I already have twin girls who are called [name]Saskia[/name] (nn Sassy or Sas) [name]Grace[/name] and [name]Milla[/name] (nn [name]Milly[/name] or [name]Mil[/name]) [name]Rose[/name] (names starting in S and M are out). Our family has a very long, complicated, double barreled last name. P…-B… (names starting in P and B are out, as are names ending in S) I am looking for a European sounding name to match the other two. I would also like it to finish in a or the ‘ah’ sound. I am also looking for a one syllable middle name as our last name is so long. I also would like a nn that ends in y and can be abbreviated to one syllable (eg Sas and [name]Mil[/name]) also. Impossible! :?

I like the following names - Tululah, [name]Estella[/name], [name]Lolita[/name], [name]Gisela[/name], [name]Isolda[/name] and [name]Zephyr[/name], [name]Luca[/name], [name]Noah[/name], [name]Oscar[/name].

I like nn [name]Lotte[/name], [name]Sonny[/name], [name]Tully[/name], [name]Rosey[/name], [name]Zolly[/name], [name]Issy[/name], [name]Kitty[/name], [name]Dolly[/name], [name]Lolly[/name] etc

Any ideas? No names beginnning in S, M, P, B and ending in S please. Thanks everyone!!!

First off, I have to say that your daughter’s names are gorgeous! Absolutely love them. Now for my suggestions; hope there’s at least one that catches your eye.

Thanks Minkajoy!
I like many of your suggestions -
[name]Isadora[/name] and [name]Jemima[/name] are two I adore
[name]Valentina[/name] - I like [name]Lenny[/name]
[name]Ramona[/name] - worried that she would be called [name]Moaner[/name]
[name]Aurora[/name] - Auri or [name]Rory[/name] cute

[name]Love[/name] [name]Casper[/name] and [name]Jasper[/name] but both rhyme with Sas, so they are out
[name]Felix[/name] can’t be abbreviated can it?
[name]Friend[/name]'s child is [name]Xavier[/name]
Another friend’s child [name]Orlando[/name]
[name]Just[/name] though of [name]Wesley[/name] today but doesn’t end in ‘ah’
[name]Chester[/name] is interesting, like [name]Chaz[/name]
[name]Rafael[/name] was our top boys name last time but one of my friends now has one

Any thoughts on [name]Zephyr[/name] [name]Miles[/name] or [name]Luca[/name] [name]Miles[/name] for a boy???
[name]Gisela[/name] [name]Joy[/name], [name]Jemima[/name] [name]Eve[/name], [name]Isadora[/name] [name]Eve[/name], [name]Estella[/name] [name]Skye[/name], [name]Indigo[/name] [name]Skye[/name], Izolda [name]Eve[/name], [name]Talullah[/name] [name]Eve[/name]???

HELP!!!

[name]Hi[/name]! I love your [name]Little[/name] Ladies’ names! I’d like to suggest [name]Anoushka[/name] / [name]Anushka[/name] (nn. [name]Annie[/name]/Nushka/Nunu)? Its fairly European and I think it’s BEAUTIFUL! It does not start with S M P or B, but it does end in the -ah sound you are after. I think it goes so well with [name]Saskia[/name] and [name]Milla[/name] too. I also [name]LOVE[/name] [name]Indigo[/name] [name]Skye[/name] (nn. [name]Indi[/name]), but what about [name]Tallulah[/name] [name]Skye[/name] (nn. [name]Tally[/name] or [name]Lulu[/name]) ? It flows better with [name]Saskia[/name] and [name]Milla[/name]. ([name]Skye[/name] is my Abso. Favourite for a girl for over 10yrs!) What do you think?

Ps: My personal opinion: I [name]Love[/name] [name]Luca[/name] very much, [name]Zephyr[/name] (nn. Zeph) is not my style, but I like it. However, I’M really not crazy about [name]Miles[/name], sorry.

What beautifully named children you have! My first thought when reading this was that is sounds like you prefer eastern European sounding names. So, then I thought [name]Natasha[/name] would work very, very well! It finishes in the “ah” sound, doesn’t start with S or M, and for nicknames [name]Nata[/name], [name]Sasha[/name], [name]Tasha[/name], [name]Tash[/name] (Tosh) work. Other names you might like are [name]Anona[/name],[name]Anya[/name], [name]Anoush[/name], [name]Katarina[/name] (or [name]Katerina[/name]), [name]Regina[/name],[name]Noelia[/name], [name]Thea[/name] (Theeya) [name]Honora[/name], and [name]Tatiana[/name]. [name]Tatiana[/name] in particular would be lovely with [name]Saskia[/name] and [name]Milla[/name]. For middle names, how about [name]Louise[/name], [name]Belle[/name], [name]Eve[/name], [name]Eden[/name], [name]Mae[/name], [name]Wren[/name], [name]June[/name], [name]Ruby[/name], [name]Elle[/name], [name]Maeve[/name], [name]Claire[/name]? Good luck!

[name]Hi[/name] guys, thanks for all the suggestions! Yes, I love Eastern European names!

Have been thinking more and more about [name]Anushka[/name], just love Nushka, so cute! Also just thought of [name]Clemenza[/name], Clemy??? Thoughts??

[name]Aurelia[/name] is up there at the moment and I love nn [name]Gigi[/name] so still thinking about [name]Gisela[/name]??? [name]Aurora[/name]?

Boys names that are leading are still [name]Zephyr[/name], [name]Luca[/name], [name]Oscar[/name], [name]Harper[/name] and maybe [name]Edgar[/name], [name]Balthazar[/name] (too over the top? nn?) and [name]Asher[/name] (hubbie hates it)

HELP!!!

[name]Hi[/name] again! I’m still LOVING [name]Anushka[/name] for you, it has the same vibe as, fits and flows so well with [name]Saskia[/name] and [name]Milla[/name], much better than [name]Aurelia[/name] and [name]Aurora[/name] IMPO. Was Disney’s ‘Sleeping Beauty’ not named [name]Aurora[/name]? Unless you have no problem with that. Although slightly different, [name]AureliE[/name] was a Name of the [name]Day[/name] on Babynames.com’s Facebook page recently and someone mentioned it sounded too much like ‘orally’ to them! Oops! LOL! [name]Clemenza[/name] sounds to me like [name]Cadenza[/name], so I dont like it personally. I do like [name]Gisela[/name] though, again it has the same vibe as [name]Saskia[/name] and [name]Milla[/name]. So does [name]Luca[/name] for a boy. It’s definitely a European sound, but they still all have individuality, if you know what I mean? As much as I dont mind [name]Zephyr[/name], it does not have this vibe. But how much that means to YOU, is the question! Go with your heart!

[name]Natalia[/name]
[name]Katrina[/name]
Raphaella
[name]Luciana[/name]

I have another Suggestion: Ankia (Pr. uhn- KEE-ah). What do you think? Its a very dear friend’s name but I’ve never been able to find a meaning, so it must be a made-up name. [name]Just[/name] thought I’d put it out there… . .

[name]Hi[/name] from one Aussie to another  I will only mention names that I think will be a good fit in [name]Oz[/name].

I think [name]Lola[/name] on its own would be lovely and I would go for [name]Lulu[/name] too both spunky, fun and feminine names! I think [name]Estella[/name] has the strong S sound coming through that you want to avoid and [name]Gisella[/name] is a very pretty name but why not [name]Allegra[/name]?

I think I have a name that you will like and I hope you do because I think this lovely name is a good fit. I met a girl in [name]Russia[/name] with this name. It is really pretty.

[name]Alyona[/name] (al ee oh nah) wdyt?

I have another name but I think it may be too long. I was in the Russian Museum in St Petersburg and I stopped in front of this amazing oil painting of a woman, she was stunning. Her name was [name]Zinaida[/name], she was a princess and very well thought of in her time. I have a photo of her but don’t know how to upload to nameberry. You may also like the name [name]Aida[/name], (ay dah), I don’t like it but…

Also [name]Vera[/name] but it is a little lack lustre for me

and of course [name]Elena[/name] such a pretty name and well known, you may like the variation of [name]Eliana[/name]

and lastly [name]Yana[/name]. I could suggest [name]Irena[/name] but I don’t think it would gel here.

Re your boy’s list [name]Zephyr[/name], [name]Luca[/name], [name]Noah[/name], [name]Oscar[/name].

You are going to meet a ton of [name]Noah[/name]'s so this may put you off this one.

[name]Luca[/name] not common but you will meet a ton of [name]Lucas[/name]’ and [name]Lukes[/name] again this may put you off

[name]Oscar[/name] is a better fit, less common and fits your criteria, it is a literary style name reminds me of [name]Oscar[/name] Wilde.

[name]Zephyr[/name] sounds smart but after a while I bet he would be mistaken for a [name]Jeff[/name], it is a similar sound.

[name]Jonah[/name]?

[name]Do[/name] you like [name]Cruz[/name]? Doesn’t end in the ‘ah’ sound but I bet it is a good fit, nn cruisieboy (We have one in our family).

[name]Shame[/name] I can’t suggest [name]Micah[/name] and [name]Maxim[/name]. I could suggest [name]Igor[/name]/[name]Ivan[/name]/[name]Evan[/name] but not what you asked for. Another that doesn’t meet criteriia but still a good fit = [name]Felix[/name].

For my money I would think about [name]Alyona[/name], so, so pretty and unusual but so easy to say, then [name]Lola[/name] and [name]Lulu[/name] with [name]Eliana[/name] as a back up.

For the boys I don’t have much to suggest except that I think [name]Felix[/name] is a good match with the girl’s names.

all the best and let us know if we are getting warm.

rollo

I love [name]Gisela[/name] nn [name]Gigi[/name]! [name]Zephyr[/name] is great too!

few more:
[name]Augustina[/name]
[name]Yeva[/name]

Thanks again guys! So much to think about!

Firstly, i [name]LOVE[/name] Tullulah - probably my fav girls name apart from [name]India[/name], but my hubbies doesn’t like it, so sad!

Namelover7 - I love [name]Anoush[/name] and the middle names [name]Elle[/name], [name]Eve[/name], [name]Belle[/name] (part of last name starts in B though)and [name]Mae[/name] (this rhymes with part of our last name though)

momof374 - [name]Rafaella[/name] is on the list, but not that near the top, glad you like gisela and zephyr

hazelet - have a problem with made up names, even though it is cute

rollo - I really like [name]Allegra[/name] and [name]Alyona[/name] but have a problem with nn [name]Al[/name] or [name]Ally[/name], my mum’s name is [name]Alison[/name] and I have never liked the nn [name]Al[/name] which sounsd masculine to me. I really like pretty soft girly names. [name]Zinaida[/name] is interesting and [name]Elena[/name] has potential. It means sun ray which is gorgeous and is a spanish name (husband’s family are spanish speakers). Good nn potential, I like both elly and lenny. will put on the list and see what hubby thinks. Funny you mention [name]Felix[/name] as we would have named one of the twins [name]Rafael[/name] [name]Felix[/name] had they been a boy. By the way i have a niece called [name]Lulu[/name] so that is out. What about [name]Luca[/name] nn [name]Louie[/name]? You have put me of [name]Zephyr[/name] a bit with the [name]Jeff[/name] thing. Aw! I do love [name]Oscar[/name] but think it is common too???

Anyway, what does eveyone think, do I have to continue the a or ‘ah’ trend that i started with my twins or can i just continue the european style??? I keep coming back to [name]Gisele[/name] nn [name]Gigi[/name]. I like [name]Gisela[/name] too but is the ending too similar to [name]Milla[/name]? What about [name]Romelo[/name] for a boy nn Rom/y?

Other girls names: Loletta, [name]Isolde[/name], [name]Isolda[/name], [name]Valentina[/name], [name]Aurelia[/name], [name]Olympia[/name], [name]Ramona[/name], [name]Arietta[/name], [name]Jemima[/name], [name]Rosetta[/name], [name]Violetta[/name], [name]Anoushka[/name], [name]Emelina[/name]/[name]Emelita[/name]??? Middle name [name]Skye[/name], [name]Eve[/name] or [name]Elle[/name]?

Feeedback???Ideas???

Give us a poll with your top choices and middle names. I [name]LOVE[/name] [name]Skye[/name], my Favourite as a first name for over 10 years, but realise that it may not be a practical fn.

“rollo - I really like [name]Allegra[/name] and [name]Alyona[/name] but have a problem with nn [name]Al[/name] or [name]Ally[/name]…”

Oh well it was a good try but the whole name must be a good fit so those names are off the list.

“we would have named one of the twins [name]Rafael[/name] [name]Felix[/name] had they been a boy.”

Good I think we can put [name]Felix[/name] onto your list then.

  1. What about [name]Luca[/name] nn [name]Louie[/name]? [name]Louie[/name] is kind of cute but do you remember the Mortein commercial about [name]Louie[/name] The Fly? If it was me I would go for [name]Louis[/name] nn [name]Lou[/name] over [name]Luca[/name] but I love [name]Lucas[/name].

And [name]Luca[/name] is a handsome name but I find it confusing to have a boy’s name ending in an ‘a’.

  1. I do love [name]Oscar[/name] but think it is common too???

Definitely not too common I have had contact with children in two schools over the last few years and I have only heard of one [name]Oscar[/name], and what an impressive boy he was, so intelligent and yet so young, very articulate, one to excel in life imo.

  1. do I have to continue the a or ‘ah’ trend that i started with my twins or can i just continue the european style???

No, I don’t think so, embrace all the names you like to find the best fit.

4. I keep coming back to [name]Gisele[/name] nn [name]Gigi[/name].
I like [name]Gisela[/name] too but is the ending too similar to [name]Milla[/name]?

If you like this one I see no problem using it next to [name]Milla[/name].

5. What about [name]Romelo[/name] for a boy nn Rom/y?

Sorry I don’t like this I think [name]Roman[/name] or [name]Ramon[/name] would be better.

Other girls names:
Loletta, Too frilly and reminds me of [name]Lolita[/name] so not for me but still think [name]Lola[/name] is a good fit
[name]Isolde[/name], [name]Isolda[/name], Very lovely classical Greek name from the ancient Greeks but would only use in mn spot
[name]Valentina[/name], Very pretty
[name]Aurelia[/name], It feels a little like you are trying too hard with this one. [name]Do[/name] you like [name]Aurora[/name]? nn [name]Rory[/name], [name]Aurora[/name] [name]Elizabeth[/name] and would love to see it on a red haired Aussie kid.
[name]Olympia[/name], [name]OTT[/name]
[name]Ramona[/name], Prefer [name]Ramon[/name] for a boy
[name]Arietta[/name], Too fussy
[name]Jemima[/name], One of my favourite names but you get the nn of [name]Mimi[/name] which doesn’t go with [name]Milla[/name]
[name]Rosetta[/name], [name]Rose[/name] names are lovely but I find the ‘etta’ is too much
[name]Violetta[/name], No, go for [name]Violet[/name] nn [name]Vi[/name]
[name]Anoushka[/name], A little heavy to my ears
[name]Emelina[/name]/[name]Emelita[/name]??? What about [name]Adeline[/name]/a nn [name]Lena[/name]

Summary (I have put in mns that I like to make up the combos) I am not sure why you like [name]Skye[/name] as it is a different style to the first names you like.

[name]Valentina[/name] [name]Eve[/name]
[name]Aurora[/name] [name]Elise[/name]
[name]Rosalia[/name] [name]Skye[/name]
[name]Eva[/name] [name]Scarlett[/name]
[name]Violet[/name] [name]Adelina[/name]
[name]Natalia[/name] [name]Ellen[/name]
[name]Giselle[/name] [name]Susannah[/name]
[name]Lola[/name] [name]Imogen[/name] ([name]Tallulah[/name] is probably out if you have a [name]Lulu[/name] in the family already)
[name]Lola[/name] [name]Magdalena[/name]
[name]Lourdes[/name] [name]Eliana[/name]

Boys

[name]Oscar[/name] [name]Felix[/name]
[name]Oscar[/name] [name]Joseph[/name]
[name]Felix[/name] [name]Adair[/name]
[name]Lucas[/name] [name]Roman[/name]
[name]Roman[/name] [name]Alexander[/name]
[name]Ramon[/name] [name]Cruz[/name]

all the best,

rollo

Rightyho Hazelet, I will post a poll, please vote!

[name]Rollo[/name], jeepers, what a comprehensive reply, much appreciated! I love my names and always have, but a bit lost at the moment. Many of my favs like [name]Matisse[/name], Mietta, [name]Matilda[/name] start with M which is out and many end in S like [name]Casius[/name], [name]Ignatius[/name], [name]Romulus[/name], which is also out. Then my husband seems to shut down all of my favourites and I am left scrambling. Not to mention the fact that he never offers any of his own. Men! Maybe a poll will be a good way to show him that some of my names really are quite lovely, like [name]Jemima[/name] which I adore nn [name]Jem[/name] instead of [name]Mimi[/name]?

Ok berries, please vote

Well, I would have to vote for [name]Jemima[/name] nn [name]Jem[/name]/[name]Jemma[/name] then! [name]Love[/name] it.

Second choice would be [name]Gisele[/name]/a [name]Fleur[/name]

[name]Hope[/name] I wasn’t too critical. Bottom line go with your heart and I am sure that DH will agree with your choice if he knows that you love the name/combo so much.

looking forward to seeing your final choices.

regards,

rollo

[name]Hi[/name] again =)
Funny, I recommended [name]Felix[/name], as did at least one other person (from the other thread).
Maybe [name]Felix[/name] is the way to go! I still love [name]Skye[/name] for the middle for most of the names you’ve picked, but I would figure out the middle once you’ve figured out the first name. =)

Since [name]Saskia[/name] and [name]Milla[/name] are twins, it’s definitely okay for the next baby to have a different ending to his/her name. Not necessary for the ‘ah’ or ‘a’ ending.
If I were in the same position, this is what I would consider:
If I were going to have a third girl, I could do with OR without the ‘ah/a’ ending - but if I were to have another girl after that, then I would feel obligated to continue the theme. So, third girl has an ‘ah’ ending, then the fourth girl should have the ‘ah’ ending - But! They would not be twins, right? So you might consider that the twins should have their own special endings to their names.
If I were going to have a boy next, I would probably go without the ‘ah’ ending for a couple of reasons. One, boys names with that type of ending are very limited, and most of them sound effeminate or don’t offer the same feel you might want in your sibset. Also, with one boy, there’s no reason his name can’t stand alone with a different ending. [name]Even[/name] if you had a fourth boy, he would not be a twin, so his name can have a different ending as well and that would leave you with many more options.
So basically, if this is your third and final baby, then you can’t really go wrong either way - with or without the ‘ah’ or ‘a’ ending. Now if you’re not sure if you’re going to have even more children or you are planning more for sure, I would save yourself the brain-wracking and go with names you [name]LOVE[/name] with different endings, so that your twin girls have their own special endings and you have many more options for your future children.
That’s what I would consider if it were me naming mine. Consider the options and go with your heart. But keep backup names, of course, for when the baby is born. You may feel more certain of what you’d like when the time comes.

Templekat, good to have you back, as always so insightful!

Although we are planning no more children, I am beginning to consider more names without an a/ah ending.

[name]Gisele[/name] and [name]Imogen[/name] for a girl and [name]Rafael[/name] and [name]Felix[/name] for a boy.

Also, have decided to sort of the first name and then do another poll to really lock in the middle.
[name]Will[/name] keep everyone posted.

If you’re not going with [name]Anoushka[/name] then [name]Imogen[/name] and [name]Gisele[/name] were my other choices on your poll anyway. They are ALL beautiful and, to me anyway, all have the same ‘feel’ about them as [name]Saskia[/name] and [name]Milla[/name]. For a boy I [name]LOVE[/name] [name]Raphael[/name], [name]Felix[/name] is not my style, but [name]Raphael[/name] [name]Felix[/name] is a great combo! I hope you’ve found us all helpful and good luck bancios!! Beautiful Choices!
