[name_f]Savannah[/name_f]'s currently at the top of my list - more familiar than [name_f]Zuzanna[/name_f], but it gives me a similar feel. I’m not sure what girls names suit Miss [name_f]Savannah[/name_f] though - I adore [name_f]Millie[/name_f] and [name_f]Savannah[/name_f] together, but, I’m not 100% sold, and I feel like, if a name is in my top 10, I need to have a few sibling ideas.
I don’t want anything too trendy, anything starting with ‘S’, or anything unisex - my unisex names go to the boys, haha. If I had a son with a sister named [name_f]Savannah[/name_f], he would likely be [name_u]Emerson[/name_u] [name_m]Daniel[/name_m] Boy names aren’t an issue for me, but I’m always stuck with the girls!
I don’t think [name_f]Savannah[/name_f] fits with any of the names on your list. Maybe [name_f]Willa[/name_f], since they can both have a sort of country/southern-ish vibe. But [name_f]Willa[/name_f] is very now, whereas [name_f]Savannah[/name_f] feels a bit past its prime and low-class to me. Sorry. It’s not my favorite name on your list.
The names don’t need to be from my signature - any names that fit with [name_f]Savannah[/name_f] will work. It’s a shame you see [name_f]Savannah[/name_f] that way, aha, I don’t hear/see it at all where I live, I think I’ve met one in my whole life, so that’s why I’m drawn to it.
I agree with @thatkathryngirl that [name_f]Savannah[/name_f] doesn’t fit with [name_f]Verity[/name_f], [name_f]Violet[/name_f], [name_f]Ffion[/name_f], or [name_f]Millie[/name_f]. I think of those as somewhat clunky cool or old lady chic. I like them all. But not [name_f]Savannah[/name_f]. Maybe it’s because I’m in the US. Here, I would see a family with a [name_f]Savannah[/name_f] and a [name_f]Kailyn[/name_f]. Not the vibe you’re going for. It’s common (not in a good way) here.
I love the name [name_f]Savannah[/name_f] – of course my main association with it is [name_f]Savannah[/name_f], [name_f]Georgia[/name_f], which is one of the prettiest places in the south. It’s lovely and classic southern. So in that case it would pair nicely with many classic / vintage names. [name_m]Don[/name_m]'t name your other baby girl [name_f]Georgia[/name_f]!
[name_f]Verity[/name_f] and [name_f]Violet[/name_f] could work in this same vein.
[name_f]Calla[/name_f] is on my short list and I think it would match beautifully, without putting you into the way-too-southern oriented category (which I’m just assuming you might like to avoid).
[name_f]Camille[/name_f] / [name_f]Camellia[/name_f]
[name_f]Marguerite[/name_f]
[name_u]Ruby[/name_u]
[name_f]Scarlett[/name_f] (Might be too southern-focused considering “Gone with the Wind”)
[name_f]Sophia[/name_f]
[name_u]Evelyn[/name_u]
[name_f]Aveline[/name_f]
[name_f]Rosalie[/name_f]
Well, technically speaking, I asked what COULD work with [name_f]Savannah[/name_f], not how ‘low class’ or trashy you think it is. Where I live, it’s very uncommon actually - and, to most people who do not live in the US, [name_f]Savannah[/name_f]'s actually quite classy. In [name_f]England[/name_f], for example, [name_f]Savannah[/name_f]'s the name of one of the [name_f]Queen[/name_f]'s great granddaughters, which brought [name_f]Savannah[/name_f]'s popularity up.
I don’t mean to sound rude, but, really, I didn’t ask what your thoughts on [name_f]Savannah[/name_f] were - just for some ideas on what names could match it. If you dislike the name [name_f]Savannah[/name_f], you didn’t need to comment on the post
Aw you’re giving up on [name_f]Zuzanna[/name_f]? I love it so much! Of course you could do Zavannah…
Names that have a similar feel as [name_f]Savannah[/name_f]:
[name_f]Sienna[/name_f]
[name_u]Prairie[/name_u]
[name_f]Sahara[/name_f]
[name_f]Oceane[/name_f]/[name_f]Oceana[/name_f] (oh-shee-ann)/(oh-shee-anna)
[name_f]Winona[/name_f]
[name_f]Tanwen[/name_f]
[name_f]Tamsin[/name_f]
Keitha
[name_f]Kendra[/name_f]
[name_f]Kenna[/name_f]
[name_u]Rain[/name_u]
[name_u]Waverly[/name_u]
I love [name_f]Zuzanna[/name_f], but I think the spelling will trip some people up (unless I pack up and move to [name_f]England[/name_f], [name_m]Wales[/name_m] or [name_f]Ireland[/name_f] ). I like [name_f]Tamsin[/name_f] and [name_f]Sienna[/name_f], thank you
[name_m]Don[/name_m]'t worry, only one name from [name_f]Savannah[/name_f], [name_f]Georgia[/name_f] for me! Haha, I would like [name_f]Georgia[/name_f], if one day, my future husband (who currently doesn’t seem to exist in my life…) vetoed [name_f]Savannah[/name_f]. I’m happy you see [name_f]Savannah[/name_f] the same way I do! I love [name_f]Calla[/name_f], and I know a girl named [name_f]Calla[/name_f] actually, she’s lovely and it makes me like the name more
I also like [name_u]Evelyn[/name_u], [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f], [name_u]Ruby[/name_u], [name_f]Scarlett[/name_f] and [name_f]Aveline[/name_f]!
I’m sorry, I really wasn’t trying to offend you! That was meant as an explanations, not a jab at your taste in names. Where I live, [name_f]Savannah[/name_f] became really trendy when I was around 10 years old or so, and it’s considered dated now. You said no trendy names and no S names and no unisex names, but when I think of names to go with [name_f]Savannah[/name_f] that’s all I can think of because it’s considered that sort of name here! In my mind, it goes with [name_u]Madison[/name_u], [name_u]Sydney[/name_u], [name_u]Taylor[/name_u], [name_u]Brooklyn[/name_u], and [name_u]Sierra[/name_u] (names of my teenage niece’s friends). I really am sorry if I hurt your feelings. I should have explained it differently instead of saying “low-class”.
I think it would seem more elevated to me if you matched it with other “Southern” type names, but I don’t know if that would be strange since you’re Canadian.
I was a bit offended, considering it’s how my own name is seen, but you’re not the only one who said it, so don’t take all the blame on yourself By trendy, all I meant was [name_f]Nevaeh[/name_f], [name_u]McKinley[/name_u], [name_f]McKenna[/name_f], etc. Southern names aren’t too bad up here, and the area I live in is like a mini Southern US, (Seriously, sometimes I wonder if I live in [name_u]Tennessee[/name_u] and not [name_m]Ontario[/name_m]…) so most are probably ok. I know that where I live, unique names are quite popular - at one of the 2 elementary schools here, there’s a Serissa, Sha’uri (who’s blonde with blue eyes…), Maryline, [name_f]Kimmy[/name_f], [name_m]Drummer[/name_m], it goes on. A little [name_f]Savannah[/name_f] with a sister named [name_f]Tallulah[/name_f], or [name_u]Ruby[/name_u], or even [name_f]Georgia[/name_f] - likely wouldn’t seem as weird as it does in some areas.
Hmm… I’d agree it’s a bit tricky to match with sibling names since it’s quite a different style to your list.
You mentioned the [name_f]Queen[/name_f]'s great grandchild… I think [name_m]Peter[/name_m] [name_m]Phillips[/name_m] (or is it [name_f]Zara[/name_f] [name_m]Phillips[/name_m]?) other daughter might be [name_f]Isla[/name_f]? Not sure - and I have in mind there’s a [name_f]Mia[/name_f] around somewhere who was born fairly recently. [name_f]Savannah[/name_f] feels sort of Americanised even compared to them, though, and I don’t think that it’s automatically ‘classy’ like [name_f]Beatrice[/name_f] or [name_f]Louise[/name_f] because it’s on a royal baby.
I would probably match it with something that sounds familiar or even trendy but a tiny bit exotic ([name_f]Savannah[/name_f] makes me think of [name_f]East[/name_f] [name_f]Africa[/name_f], rather than the US town which I was only vaguely aware of). Something like…
[name_f]Indigo[/name_f]
[name_f]Lydia[/name_f]
[name_f]Scarlett[/name_f]
[name_f]Fleur[/name_f]
[name_f]Zara[/name_f]
[name_f]Maia[/name_f]
[name_f]Saffron[/name_f] - maybe a bit matchy
[name_f]Cassia[/name_f]
[name_f]Leila[/name_f]
[name_u]Ruby[/name_u]
[name_f]Isabella[/name_f]
[name_f]Jasmine[/name_f]
(I know you’re interested in British names and trends etc, I would suggest doing a search of your favourites on mumsnet.com or a similar site/forums to get a general consensus by British parents… I often use it to get a perspective outside Nameberry; some of my list don’t translate well outside the UK ‘’[name_f]Nancy[/name_f]? Uh, no. [name_f]Eilidh[/name_f]? like, eyelid? [name_f]Jemima[/name_f]? Racist.‘’)
[name_f]Savannah[/name_f] and [name_f]Isla[/name_f] are [name_m]Peter[/name_m]'s, [name_f]Mia[/name_f] is [name_f]Zara[/name_f]'s I like [name_f]Lydia[/name_f], [name_f]Scarlett[/name_f], [name_u]Ruby[/name_u], [name_f]Isabella[/name_f], [name_f]Zara[/name_f] and [name_f]Fleur[/name_f]. I also really like [name_f]Florence[/name_f] &[name_f]Savannah[/name_f] ( I saw it in a BA from the UK). I should do that though - mumsnet seems used the most, so I’ll try that now, thank you
Haha, I’m not massively interested in the [name_m]Royal[/name_m] Family to my grandmother’s dismay I know there’s a little [name_f]Cosima[/name_f] somewhere in line to the throne, which I love. There’s a [name_f]Margarita[/name_f] and an [name_f]Eliza[/name_f] too… na’aaawww.
[name_f]Savannah[/name_f] and [name_f]Florence[/name_f] are actually really pretty together, even though I wouldn’t have ever thought of matching them.
@lawsonhaley: The first name that came to my mind was [name_f]Emmeline[/name_f], with the nn of [name_f]Millie[/name_f]. [name_f]Savannah[/name_f] and [name_f]Emmeline[/name_f] - what do you think?
@oliviasarah - I’ve always been interested - likely because I’m related to them? Haha, [name_m]Prince[/name_m] [name_m]Andrew[/name_m]'s ex wife, [name_f]Sarah[/name_f] is my distant cousin.
Thank you They both kind of give off a like - 1900’s British posh little girl type vibe.
@kyemsma - I really like [name_f]Emmeline[/name_f]! It sounds beautiful with [name_f]Savannah[/name_f] (and [name_f]Florence[/name_f]). However, [name_f]Emmeline[/name_f] would cancel out my top boy’s name
