Scarlet, Delaney Lilyana ~ please help!

Our baby girl is due in [name]January[/name] and we are having a hard time deciding on a name. Below are some of our favorites… and I would love a name with meaning and/or a family name. What are your favorties? Any other suggestions?

[name]Scarlet[/name] [name]Kate[/name] (kate is my mother’s name)
[name]Scarlet[/name] [name]Rose[/name] (rose is my husbands grandmothers name)
[name]Delaney[/name] [name]Grace[/name] (delaney is an Irish name meaning angel from heaven)
[name]Lilyana[/name] [name]Leora[/name] (leora is great grandmother’s name and my middle name)
[name]Leighton[/name] [name]Leora[/name] (what could you call her for short with leighton?)
[name]Alexandra[/name] [name]Kate[/name]
[name]Savannah[/name] [name]Leora[/name]
[name]Baylee[/name] [name]Kate[/name]

Thanks for your help!

I think you have some good choices, here are a few comments.

It’s difficult to find a good middle name for [name]Scarlett[/name] as often it seems like [name]Scarlett[/name] is describing the middle name if the mn is a word name. EG [name]Scarlet[/name] [name]Rose[/name], it sounds like [name]Scarlet[/name] is describing [name]Rose[/name], though this isn’t necessarily a bad thing.

Is your Mom’s full name [name]Kate[/name] or is that short for [name]Katherine[/name]? I see [name]Kate[/name] used more and more, and as a mn, I like it, but as a fn, I prefer the full [name]Katherine[/name].

I prefer the spelling [name]Liliana[/name] to [name]Lilyana[/name], but the combo [name]Liliana[/name] [name]Leora[/name] is really nice. I don’t like [name]Leighton[/name] [name]Leora[/name], on the other hand.

[name]Baylee[/name] is beginning to sound passe to me, kind of a 90’s name.

I love the name [name]Savannah[/name], but [name]Savannah[/name] [name]Leora[/name] is a bit of a mouthful.

Good luck.

I had this all written up and then my internet crashed…thankfully I copied it before hand  But now I’m posting it before having read what the PP wrote…I’ll go back and read it, but sorry for any repeats

[name]Scarlet[/name] [name]Kate[/name] (kate is my mother’s name) - I think this is my favorite of your choices

[name]Scarlet[/name] [name]Rose[/name] (rose is my husbands grandmothers name) - not a huge fan of this because it seems TOO cutesy…you’re basically calling her “[name]Red[/name] [name]Red[/name]” or “[name]Red[/name] [name]Flower[/name]”

[name]Delaney[/name] [name]Grace[/name] (delaney is an Irish name meaning angel from heaven) - I love [name]Delaney[/name] (nn [name]Laney[/name]) but I can’t convince Hubby  I think its cute, but [name]Grace[/name] is becoming overused in the middle. [name]Delaney[/name] [name]Kate[/name] works, too!

[name]Lilyana[/name] [name]Leora[/name] (leora is great grandmother’s name and my middle name) - Its a little hard to say (I would also spell it [name]Liliana[/name], not a fan of the ‘y’), but I’m in love with [name]Liliana[/name]. Unfortunatley a lot of people are…its #150 for popularity (and [name]Lily[/name] is #24!)

[name]Leighton[/name] [name]Leora[/name] (what could you call her for short with leighton?) - Same problem here, a bit hard to say the double L. [name]Just[/name] a bit, though. [name]Leighton[/name] sort of has that “trendy” feel. As a nn I would call her [name]LeeLee[/name]

[name]Alexandra[/name] [name]Kate[/name] - sweet and spunky!

[name]Savannah[/name] [name]Leora[/name] - I’ve never been a [name]Savannah[/name] fan…I like [name]Georgia[/name], though

[name]Baylee[/name] [name]Kate[/name] - To me [name]Bailey[/name] has been taken over by the dogs. I know at least 2 dogs named [name]Bailey[/name]…and no kids…

[name]Scarlet[/name] [name]Kate[/name] (kate is my mother’s name): I love both [name]Scarlett[/name] and [name]Kate[/name], but because both names end in a T, the name feels pretty T heavy to me…
[name]Scarlet[/name] [name]Rose[/name] (rose is my husbands grandmothers name): I third what the previous posters hace said.

Names you may like that remind me of [name]Scarlett[/name]:

[name]Scarlett[/name] [name]Evangeline[/name]
[name]Scarlett[/name] [name]Genevieve[/name]
[name]Scarlett[/name] [name]Josephine[/name]
[name]Scarlett[/name] [name]Katherine[/name]
[name]Scarlett[/name] [name]Miranda[/name]
[name]Scarlett[/name] [name]Victoria[/name]

[name]Delaney[/name] [name]Grace[/name] (delaney is an Irish name meaning angel from heaven): [name]Delaney[/name] feels trendy to me, but I can see its appeal. It’s very different in style from some of the vintage or exotic names on your list such as [name]Scarlett[/name], [name]Rose[/name], [name]Liliana[/name], [name]Kate[/name], and [name]Leora[/name]. I think that [name]Delaney[/name] [name]Grace[/name] has a nice flow, although [name]Grace[/name] is a VERY popular middle name.

Names similar to [name]Delaney[/name]

[name]Lilyana[/name] [name]Leora[/name] (leora is great grandmother’s name and my middle name): I love [name]Leora[/name], but I prefer the traditional [name]Liliana[/name]. (I also think that [name]Lilyana[/name] will encounter spelling issues with her name, having to correct people…) [name]Liliana[/name] [name]Leora[/name] is a bit hard for me to say because of the the [name]Lee[/name] sounds in both names.

[name]Liliana[/name] [name]Blythe[/name]
[name]Liliana[/name] [name]Camille[/name]
[name]Liliana[/name] [name]Delphine[/name]
[name]Liliana[/name] [name]Maeve[/name]
[name]Liliana[/name] [name]Scarlett[/name]

[name]Leighton[/name] [name]Leora[/name] (what could you call her for short with leighton?): I’m personally not a [name]Leighton[/name] fan.

[name]Alexandra[/name] [name]Kate[/name]: I think this has a great flow…
[name]Savannah[/name] [name]Leora[/name]: [name]Savannah[/name] is very trendy, but I do love [name]Leora[/name].

[name]Baylee[/name] [name]Kate[/name]: [name]Baylee[/name] is part of the meganame trend, which includes names like [name]Bayley[/name]/[name]Caylee[/name]/[name]Haylee[/name]/Jailey/[name]Jaylee[/name]/Braylee/Shaylie/[name]Shaylee[/name], etc., which may or may not bother you.

My favorite names from your list are [name]Scarlett[/name], [name]Kate[/name], [name]Rose[/name] (as a first name), and [name]Leora[/name]. I love the flow of [name]Alexandra[/name] [name]Kate[/name]. I really love [name]Leora[/name] [name]Scarlett[/name] and [name]Leora[/name] [name]Katherine[/name]/[name]Kate[/name].
 You may also like [name]Eleanor[/name] or [name]Eleanora[/name], or [name]Rosalie[/name] [name]Kate[/name].

Best wishes to you!

I love [name]Scarlet[/name] with [name]Rose[/name].

[name]Scarlet[/name] [name]Kate[/name]: agree w another poster katherine works better than kate
[name]Scarlet[/name] [name]Rose[/name]: is ok [name]Rose[/name] works as a mn to any of ur first names
[name]Delaney[/name] [name]Grace[/name]: i dont like the name delaney
[name]Lilyana[/name] [name]Leora[/name]: prefer liliana rose or [name]Liliana[/name] grace
[name]Leighton[/name] [name]Leora[/name]: double L not the best sound but like but names
[name]Alexandra[/name] [name]Kate[/name]: is ok but like your other names more
[name]Savannah[/name] [name]Leora[/name]: love savannah w either katherine, rose or grace
[name]Baylee[/name] [name]Kate[/name]: [name]Baylee[/name] to me is dated like [name]Madison[/name] and avery

[name]Scarlet[/name] [name]Kate[/name] - I like [name]Scarlett[/name] and [name]Kate[/name] but, as posters have said, the flow isn’t great. I think [name]Scarlett[/name] [name]Katherine[/name] [name]Rose[/name] would be lovely.
[name]Scarlet[/name] [name]Rose[/name]- same as pps.
[name]Delaney[/name] [name]Grace[/name]- [name]Grace[/name] is lovely but dislike [name]Delaney[/name].
[name]Lilyana[/name] [name]Leora[/name] - I like [name]Liliana[/name] (spelt this way) and [name]Leora[/name] is fine but they don’t go well together.
[name]Leighton[/name] [name]Leora[/name] - dislike [name]Leighton[/name].
[name]Alexandra[/name] [name]Kate[/name] - sound good together but [name]Alexandra[/name] isn’t my favourite classic name
[name]Savannah[/name] [name]Leora[/name] - dislike [name]Savannah[/name]
[name]Baylee[/name] [name]Kate[/name] - dislike [name]Baylee[/name]++

I think [name]Scarlett[/name] [name]Katherine[/name] [name]Rose[/name] or [name]Liliana[/name] [name]Grace[/name]/ [name]Kate[/name]/ [name]Rose[/name] or [name]Leora[/name] [name]Grace[/name] would be really lovely!

I just wanted to put it out there that [name]Scarlett[/name]‘s name in Gone with the Wind was actually [name]Katie[/name] [name]Scarlett[/name] O’[name]Hara[/name]. Not sure if that fact would influence how you feel about [name]Scarlett[/name] [name]Kate[/name]…

[name]Scarlet[/name] [name]Kate[/name] - I really like [name]Scarlet[/name] but I’m not sure I like it with [name]Kate[/name].
All though [name]Grace[/name] is popular as a middle name I really like [name]Scarlet[/name] [name]Grace[/name].
[name]Scarlet[/name] [name]Rose[/name] - This is pretty but it sounds like a description. [name]Scarlet[/name] [name]Leora[/name]?
[name]Delaney[/name] [name]Grace[/name] - I love the name [name]Delaney[/name]. I’d like it better with a different middle name. [name]Delaney[/name] [name]Leora[/name], [name]Delaney[/name] [name]Rose[/name]…
[name]Lilyana[/name] [name]Leora[/name] - I think [name]Leora[/name] would make a great first name. This combo is a bit heavy on the “L’s”. [name]Leora[/name] ____?
[name]Leighton[/name] [name]Leora[/name] - I do like [name]Leighton[/name] but would like it better with a different middle name.
[name]Alexandra[/name] [name]Kate[/name] - I love the flow of this combo, it’s my favorite combo.
[name]Savannah[/name] [name]Leora[/name] - I’m not a fan of [name]Savannah[/name]. I think [name]Leora[/name] is such a great name I’d really consider using it as a first. [name]Leora[/name] [name]Rose[/name]?
[name]Baylee[/name] [name]Kate[/name] - [name]Baylee[/name] or [name]Bailey[/name] is pretty trendy and as much as I love the way [name]Baylee[/name] sounds I can’t get past how many there are. [name]Delaney[/name] is a good alternative [name]Baylee[/name].
