Scarlett and Vivian as sisters...?

Now, this is completely hypothetical since I’m years away from having kids, but it’s totally possible since I [name]LOVE[/name] both [name]Scarlett[/name] and [name]Vivian[/name]. I think they’re classic, gorgeous names and that they go great together as a sibset. Now I couldn’t help but think about this, is the “Gone with the Wind” theme too much for siblings? Would you even notice such a thing unless it was pointed out to you? Would you automatically think the parent was an obsessed GWTW fan? (I’m not.) I know a lot of people wouldn’t even think of this, but I did haha.

[name]Just[/name] a thought, wondering your opinions!

Sounds perfect. [name]Scarlett[/name] and [name]Vivian[/name] are great together.

Someone recently asked for opinions on their list and one of the first things I noticed was they had [name]Scarlett[/name] and [name]Vivian[/name]. It’s too much Gone with the Wind for me, but it really just depends on how much that will bother you. There will be people who think nothing of it, there will be people who recognize it and don’t care, and there will be people who recognize it and comment on it. I wouldn’t do it if it were me. [name]Vivian[/name] would be my choice, as it sounds more classic and sophisticated and does not conjure the image of [name]Scarlet[/name] Fever.

I noticed, but I’m a huge fan of GWTW. I think they work great together. Most people wouldn’t notice, I can almost guarantee it. Most people I know haven’t ever even seen the movie! :o

I would assume you were a GWTW fan, but I like them together. However, I would spell it [name]Vivienne[/name]. From your favourites, I would actually prefer [name]Scarlett[/name] and [name]Ophelia[/name] as a sibset, as they are both literary names, with a slightly darker edge to them.x

Hmm. Well as a fan of the book (never seen the film, probably won’t now that I know Ms [name]Leigh[/name] butchered the word [name]Tara[/name]) I don’t really associate [name]Vivian[/name] with [name]Scarlett[/name]. I don’t think too many people would, though it probably will be a reference you hear every now and then. I guess as the others said, at the end of the day, you just need to assess how much that would bother you.

[name]Love[/name] both names, but yes, I would assume huge Gwtw fan.

I actually don’t think that most people would notice, and evenif they did they probably wouldn’t comment too much on it. I say go for it.

I notice because I’m a huge GWTW fan, but I love them together. Who cares? If people do notice and take the time to dislike it, they’re clearly on the judgmental side. (I’m talking about the sorts who assume that you’re racist if you like the book. :))

I would keep the [name]Vivian[/name] spelling if you want the connection less noticeable. [name]Vivien[/name] [name]Leigh[/name] ([name]Scarlett[/name] in the movie) spelled her name differently.

[name]How[/name] about going with [name]Charlotte[/name] and [name]Viviana[/name] instead?
I personally like both names and have never heard of Gone with the Wind!

I agree with @carelliese I don’t think I would have noticed right away. I read the book years ago and watched the movie when I was a kid. I think NB might be the wrong place to ask a question like this anyway. We are all more honed into names than the average bear. I think a [name]Berry[/name] might notice when your next door neighbor (provided she/he isn’t a GWTW fan) wouldn’t.

Personally I think [name]Vivian[/name]/[name]Vivienne[/name] and [name]Scarlet[/name] would be great together. (I probably would stay away from [name]Vivien[/name] though).

I agree that [name]Scarlett[/name] and [name]Vivian[/name] are perfect together! Stylistically, they’re a great match. I’ve only seen a small portion of Gone with the Wind, never really got into the book, so until you said anything, I hadn’t even made the [name]Scarlett[/name] O’[name]Hara[/name]/[name]Vivien[/name] [name]Leigh[/name] connection, and I doubt I ever would have, either. If it bothers you too much, I think [name]Charlotte[/name] and [name]Vivienne[/name] is a great alternative, although I think you would be fine with just [name]Scarlett[/name] and [name]Vivian[/name].

Good luck!
