We have a short list of girls names for our little one due in [name_f]April[/name_f], and now I’m thinking about potential middles. My mums middles name is [name_m]Scott[/name_m], and is my uncles (Mums brother) middle name too, it was also my granddads middle and my great granddads middle name too. My grandparents broke the mold in the 50s giving a ‘boys’ name to my mum, however I am wondering if it’s wearable now on a girl. With the move of [name_u]James[/name_u] to be an acceptable girls middles name, could [name_m]Scott[/name_m] be next? Would you use it, or is it too far in the boys camp?
I think it’d be darling with a very feminine/frilly/flowery first name!
[name_m]Scott[/name_m] is my dad’s name. I really do like the idea of it as a middle name
I like that [name_m]Scott[/name_m] is an honour name and very meaningful to you so I would definitely say to use it as a middle name. I think that the middle spot is the place to use names that are meaningful, but maybe not ones that you would be choosing as a first. We can be a bit all over the place with middle name choices.
I think it could be a very nice and meaningful middle name, but I’d pair it up with a very feminine first name.
[name_f]Aurelia[/name_f] [name_m]Scott[/name_m]
[name_f]Victoria[/name_f] [name_m]Scott[/name_m]
[name_f]Julia[/name_f] [name_m]Scott[/name_m]
[name_f]Felicity[/name_f] [name_m]Scott[/name_m]
[name_f]Penelope[/name_f] [name_m]Scott[/name_m]
[name_f]Amelia[/name_f] [name_m]Scott[/name_m]
I think [name_m]Scott[/name_m] could work. Middle-names are a lot more pliant.
I think it’s fine! [name_f]Margot[/name_f] [name_m]Scott[/name_m] sprang to mind immediately. Whether I have a boy or a girl, my next child’s middle will be my mother’s maiden name–which is also a boys name.
I really like [name_m]Scott[/name_m] as a middle name. You can always use [name_f]Scotland[/name_f] like [name_f]Kourtney[/name_f] Kardashian did if you think [name_m]Scott[/name_m] is too plain.
I love it. Sounds very tailored and would be a great contrast to a feminine first. Another option is [name_f]Scotia[/name_f]. I know a little girl named [name_f]Scotia[/name_f].
A cousin once or twice removed named his daughter [name_f]Annabeth[/name_f] [name_m]Scott[/name_m] ([name_m]Scott[/name_m] after his father). I’ve always thought it had a nice ring to it. I think as long as the first name is pretty feminine, the combo should work.
I think it’s completely fine, especially since it’s an honor name.
