I went to school with two guys named [name_u]Scout[/name_u]. It wears surprisingly well, although it would feel a little strange on a guy who isn’t outdoorsy.
I like it for a boy more than a girl. Especially if you pair it with a masculine middle name.
I think [name_u]Scout[/name_u] is fine for a boy but it seems very much like a nickname. To me, it’s the same as calling your son [name_m]Buddy[/name_m] or [name_m]Champ[/name_m]. I could see it as a nn for something like [name_m]Scott[/name_m] or [name_u]Schuyler[/name_u], but it could work for any name.
I think [name_u]Scout[/name_u] could absolutely work for a boy, but I prefer it as a nickname. It just doesn’t seem like a name that would age very well to me. Also, with the release of the new [name_u]Harper[/name_u] [name_u]Lee[/name_u] book featuring [name_u]Scout[/name_u] as an adult it will probably gain more popularity, especially for the girls.
I agree with this. [name_u]Sawyer[/name_u], nn [name_u]Scout[/name_u] would be really nice.
I second the [name_u]Sawyer[/name_u] suggestion!
