What are your thoughts on [name_m]Seamus[/name_m] as a first name? I feel it also goes with our definite MN choice, [name_m]Colin[/name_m] (in honour of my husband’s grandfather).
It is also in honour of [name_m]Harry[/name_m] [name_m]Potter[/name_m], which I am obsessed with haha.
Would you prefer [name_m]Seamus[/name_m] or Sheamus?
I like [name_m]Seamus[/name_m]. It’s unique and approachable. People have heard the name, but most people probably don’t know many Deeefinitely prefer [name_m]Seamus[/name_m] to Sheamus.
I like [name_m]Seamus[/name_m]! It’s a strong, friendly and handsome name. I personally don’t think I could use it because of the “shame” bit and would go for [name_m]Callum[/name_m], [name_m]Finnegan[/name_m] or [name_u]Dylan[/name_u] or another Irish name but I’d love to meet a [name_m]Seamus[/name_m].
I used [name_m]Seamus[/name_m] as a third name for our third son 30 years ago and folded under pressure not to use it as a first name because it was “unusual” to family and friends…and when he turned ten, he decided he wanted to be called [name_m]Seamus[/name_m] and not [name_m]Justin[/name_m] (his first given name) and he’s been [name_m]Seamus[/name_m] ever since! So, I say yes! It’s a strong, but sweet Irish name and wears well no matter what the age of the bearer! [name_u]Love[/name_u] this name! And [name_m]Seamus[/name_m] [name_m]Colin[/name_m] sounds wonderful!
I love [name_m]Seamus[/name_m]! I’m actually surprised people aren’t talking about it more.
It’s a sweet, uncommon choice with modern nickname [name_u]Shay[/name_u] and cute nickname [name_u]Sammy[/name_u]. Plus I love the [name_m]Harry[/name_m] [name_m]Potter[/name_m] connection. I’ve never seen the Sheamus spelling before and would assume it was spelled [name_m]Seamus[/name_m], so that’s what I’d go for.
[name_m]Seamus[/name_m] is a name I would appreciate on someone else’s child, as it’s not my personal taste. I would definitely spell it [name_m]Seamus[/name_m]!
I like the sound of [name_m]Seamus[/name_m], and while I like the classic spelling (not Sheamus!), I always think of semen when I see it. And, many don’t pronounce it correctly at first and say “see-mus”
I love [name_m]Seamus[/name_m]. Please don’t spell it Sheamus, as I’m pretty sure that would only confuse people more, not help them get the name right. I think [name_m]Harry[/name_m] [name_m]Potter[/name_m] has made it seen enough to be more wildly known how to pronounce it, and if they don’t know, they just have to be told once and it will work. It is not an out there pronunciation Irish name (like [name_f]Aoibhe[/name_f]) where someone might not even know where to begin on how to pronounce it.
[name_m]Seamus[/name_m] [name_m]Colin[/name_m] is especially lovely
I’ve known two [name_m]Seamus[/name_m] and I think it works nicely with [name_m]Colin[/name_m]. I do think you may have to correct pronunciation with this spelling, but I prefer it to the other spelling and would only take a one time correction.
