Second son due tomorrow..help!

[name]Hi[/name] Nameberries! The last time i posted a thread, I was at least 4 weeks away. I am literally quite possibly due via induced labor in 24 hours this time. Need your powers to pls help this clueless Mom.

The first time, we ended up naming big brother [name]Rafael[/name], a biblical and international name. Would love to do the same for his little brother. Without revealing his big brother’s middle name, we would love to use [name]Sebastian[/name] as a middle name or [name]Roman[/name] as a first name. Last name begins with an ‘R’ and is a very common Latin surname. Dont mind alliteration either. Any thoughts or suggestions? As always, your cleverness, expertise, and creativity inspire me…thanks all!

Congratulations!

Firstly, even though you don’t mind alliteration, are you actively seeking it? If big brother is [name]Rafael[/name] “[name]Ramirez[/name],” do you want a double-R for the second boy, too? To my ear it sounds a little over-matchy.

I think a name like [name]Roman[/name]-- two syllables, easily travels across borders-- is great. I wouldn’t pair it with [name]Sebastian[/name], though, as they both end in -n.

So, something biblical that sounds great with [name]Sebastian[/name] “[name]Ramirez[/name]:”

[name]Ephraim[/name]
[name]Dario[/name]
[name]Marco[/name]
[name]Nico[/name]
[name]Tadeo[/name] ([name]Thaddeus[/name])
[name]Victor[/name]
[name]Javier[/name]/[name]Xavier[/name]

[name]Rafael[/name] is so very handsome.

I like [name]Roman[/name] [name]Elijah[/name] and [name]Roman[/name] [name]Bram[/name] as [name]Roman[/name] combos.
Also digging [name]Noah[/name] [name]Sebastian[/name] and [name]Cole[/name] [name]Sebastian[/name] as [name]Sebastian[/name] combos.

Not to go all Ninja [name]Turtle[/name] on you, but I think [name]Leonardo[/name] [name]Sebastian[/name] would be very handsome. I also like [name]Roman[/name]!

Why not go with [name]Roman[/name] [name]Sebastian[/name]? I’m curious to know how many syllables are in the surname to keep the syllable count different and interesting. That name [name]Raphael[/name] is so underused. You may want to do a search of Italian names ideally with two syllables. The name [name]Bruno[/name] just popped in my head just now. Congrats.

Names that go well with [name]Rafael[/name]…
[name]Dario[/name], [name]Darius[/name]
[name]Elias[/name], [name]Elijah[/name]
[name]Stefano[/name], [name]Stefan[/name]
[name]Dominic[/name]
[name]Caius[/name]
[name]Malachi[/name]
Best of luck!

[name]Roman[/name] is very nice! I also think these would fit with [name]Rafael[/name]…
[name]Giovanni[/name]
[name]Benjamin[/name]
[name]Xavier[/name]
[name]Joseph[/name]
[name]Marcus[/name]
[name]Remy[/name]

Thanks, blade!
Not actively pursuing…I just thought alliteration wasnt as big a deal since names like [name]Robert[/name] [name]Redford[/name] or [name]Ryan[/name] [name]Reynolds[/name] are not bad. But maybe only in Hollywood. I also think it depends on what the first letter is, and in our case, ‘RR’ might not be as bad as say ‘SS’.
I do like from your list [name]Victor[/name], [name]Nico[/name], & [name]Marco[/name], but the added challenge is that we are avoiding any repeats from any family members wc includes in-laws and second degree family:( So [name]Victor[/name] and [name]Nico[/name] are out.

Lexiem,
Thanks for your [name]Rafael[/name] comment…I like your [name]Noah[/name] [name]Sebastian[/name], if only we didnt have a [name]Noah[/name] in the family already…
(Sigh) all the names we want are already taken: [name]Noah[/name], [name]Mateo[/name] (and almost all versions of [name]Matthew[/name]), [name]Liam[/name], [name]Carlo[/name]/Karlo,

Boyandgirl,
Exactly what i thought. In fact, we wanted [name]Leo[/name] [name]Roman[/name], but figured with [name]Rafael[/name], our kids might both be subject to cruel kids ninja turtle jokes… Im so glad my coworker’s initial reaction to [name]Rafael[/name] when he was born was, ‘Oh the (renaissance) painter!’ . Whew.

Basicsand,
Well we’re not eliminating [name]Roman[/name] [name]Sebastian[/name], and our last name has 2 syllables ending in ‘s’… Following youn lead on 2syll italian names, but maybe not [name]Bruno[/name].

Nightowl13,
[name]Love[/name] [name]Caius[/name]. If only i can pair with [name]Roman[/name] or [name]Sebastian[/name]… Thanks!

Island,
[name]Marcus[/name] which i love and thought would be my first son’s name, is my nephew…why my cousin got pregnant before me, gah!

Tomorrow we’ll be submitting the names to the registrar’s office and it will either be just [name]Sebastian[/name] (so sad since his big bro’s name is strong and substantial) or [name]Mateo[/name] [name]Sebastian[/name] which will be to the dismay of my sister (nephew is [name]Mateo[/name] via her in-laws), or [name]Roman[/name] [name]Alexander[/name] which is kinda lukewarm for me.

Unless i get a real last minute inspiration! Praying for [name]Divine[/name] intervention almost lol.

Thanks guys, good luck on all your naming projects real or fiction.
