I came across this name in a birth announcement on the Internet and was instantly intrigued (I mean, the word even implies mystery). Obviously it might be a little much for a girl to wear as a first name, but does it have any middle name potential?
I wouldn’t use it for a first name, but it’d be a really cool middle name.
Ha ha – it took me a while to get that [name]Secret[/name] was the name you were talking about. I thought you meant the name was a secret and I thought “well, that’s stupid. how are we supposed to know what it is?” [name]One[/name] of my many dumb blonde moments.
I do not care for this name. It makes me think there is some sort of scandal attached to the child. [name]Mystery[/name]? Maybe, but definitely a more negative mystery than a positive one. I think it’s akin to someone giving their child the middle name “Trouble.” (eye roll)
I feel like that kid would get picked on.
It makes me think of the deodorant. It also puts me in the mind of a stripper name. Sorry, not a fan!
[name]How[/name] about [name]Tacita[/name] instead?
Now that has a great sound!! Great suggestion! It’s a beautiful name, but … something about naming your daughter something that means “silence” seems a little off to me. And that’s saying a lot because I don’t usually care about meanings. It kind of feels like she would be destined to be the subject of a Lifetime movie. But it is much more subtle (and beautiful!) than [name]Secret[/name].
yea…this leads me into the same kind of conversation as [name]Sirius[/name].
“What’s your name?”
“[name]Sirius[/name]”
“I am being serious. What’s your name?”
“What’s your name?”
“[name]Secret[/name]”
“uh…why is it a secret?”
It seems rather provocative for a child…maybe because of [name]Victoria[/name]'s [name]Secret[/name]?
Would that make the name [name]Victoria[/name] provocative as well due to its association to [name]Victoria[/name]'s [name]Secret[/name]?
I think it’s tacky and over thinking the “inspiring meaning” thing.
No, [name]Victoria[/name] has been used for literally ages, [name]Victoria[/name]'s [name]Secret[/name] is a relatively new thing in comparison, there are SO many other associations with the name.
[name]Raziela[/name] means “God is my secret”.
I dislike the message it sends to the child. Similar to why I wouldn’t name a child [name]Lux[/name], [name]Cash[/name], [name]Chanel[/name] because it places inappropriate value on material objects that I wouldn’t want my child to think I somehow associate with them; I wouldn’t want my kid thinking they were somehow a secret in my life or associated with a secret. It’s a bad message to the child.
Also agree with the stripper thing. If you can plausibly hear a DJ guy saying “Please welcome to the stage…[name]SECRET[/name]!” Then the name is probably a no.
It’d be tough even for a middle (and reminds me of the deodorant.)
More important though, the first and middle would sound like [somebody’s] secret. [name]Add[/name] the last name and it sounds like a book title instead of a name!
[name]Elena[/name] [name]Secret[/name] ([name]Elena[/name]'s [name]Secret[/name])
[name]Maren[/name] [name]Secret[/name] ([name]Maren[/name]'s [name]Secret[/name])
At first I thought it would be sort of a fun, whimsical middle name but then I read the other posts and changed my mind. I think now-a-days it would come acoss as too confusing or provocative. There are lots of lists on here that have similar sounding names that might give you the same feeling without using that exact name
I don’t like it… It doesn’t sound very nice or even seem appropriate for some reason.
I agree with this! It would just get confusing for the child. I think it could work as a mn, as almost anything can go there. When I first saw it I actually thought of the book [name]Secret[/name] Garden. So I don’t get as negative connotation as the deodorant or [name]Victoria[/name]'s [name]Secret[/name].
The only time I’ve come across this name was on the [name]Maury[/name] Povich show in the context of a paternity test… get it? … so no, I wouldn’t name my child this.
