Two names I’ve been crushing on recently! What are your opinions and what imagery do you get from these names?
Two quick questions
If you had to have a daughter with either of these names, what would you give them as middles?
If you had to give them middle names with the style I’m looking for, what would you suggest? (quick moodboards to show the vibe below-looking for a middle that fits that)
Together, they both feel Biblical and strong. Apart, I think [name_f]Selah[/name_f] leans Biblical and [name_f]Sarah[/name_f] feels more common. They’re both powerful and warm. [name_f]Selah[/name_f] is just more of a standout since it’s not very popular.
If I had a [name_f]Selah[/name_f] and/or a [name_f]Sarah[/name_f], I’d name them:
[name_f]Selah[/name_f] [name_f]May[/name_f] 🪻
and
[name_f]Sarah[/name_f] [name_f]Margaret[/name_f] (and I’d call her both names)
[name_f]Selah[/name_f] is gentle and peaceful in feel, but with a bright, musical vibe too. It feels established but fresh.
Out of interest, do you use ‘see-luh’ or ‘say-luh’ (or something else?)
[name_f]Sarah[/name_f] feels solid, sturdy and versatile, but also a bit - generic / bland? Maybe it’s just I like other variants so much more?
If I had you use [name_f]Selah[/name_f], I’d consider: [name_f]Selah[/name_f] [name_f]Felicity[/name_f], [name_f]Selah[/name_f] [name_f]Mirabel[/name_f] or [name_f]Selah[/name_f] [name_f]Ondine[/name_f]
If I had to use [name_f]Sarah[/name_f], I’d consider: [name_f]Sarah[/name_f] [name_f]Calliope[/name_f], [name_f]Sarah[/name_f] [name_f]Liadan[/name_f], or [name_f]Sarah[/name_f] [name_f]Josette[/name_f] ‘Sosie’
If I was to give [name_f]Selah[/name_f] a middle name based on your moodboard: [name_f]Selah[/name_f] [name_f]Odette[/name_f], [name_f]Selah[/name_f] [name_f]Marigold[/name_f], [name_f]Selah[/name_f] [name_f]Margaux[/name_f], [name_f]Selah[/name_f] [name_f]Romilly[/name_f], [name_f]Selah[/name_f] [name_f]Carmen[/name_f] or [name_f]Selah[/name_f] [name_m]Carmine[/name_m], [name_f]Selah[/name_f] [name_f]Zosime[/name_f]
If I was to give [name_f]Sarah[/name_f] a middle based on your moodboard: [name_f]Sarah[/name_f] [name_f]Marianne[/name_f], [name_f]Sarah[/name_f] [name_f]Poppy[/name_f], [name_f]Sarah[/name_f] [name_f]Melodie[/name_f], [name_f]Sarah[/name_f] [name_f]Camille[/name_f], [name_f]Sarah[/name_f] [name_f]Leontine[/name_f], [name_f]Sarah[/name_f] [name_f]Genevieve[/name_f]
@snowmaiden [name_f]Selah[/name_f] [name_f]May[/name_f] has a rhyming quality that is really pleasing and sweet! [name_f]Sarah[/name_f] [name_f]Margaret[/name_f] is such a classic. I love both of these, and agree with your description. Thanks for your input!
@Greyblue I would say SAY-luh as I slightly prefer it, but SEE-luh is pretty too!I like [name_f]Selah[/name_f] [name_f]Marigold[/name_f], [name_f]Selah[/name_f] [name_f]Carmen[/name_f], and [name_f]Selah[/name_f] [name_f]Zosime[/name_f]! [name_f]Sarah[/name_f] [name_f]Josette[/name_f] “Sosie” is adorable and I also like [name_f]Leontine[/name_f]!
@heloise_chrissa [name_f]Selah[/name_f] [name_f]Olive[/name_f] and [name_f]Sarah[/name_f] [name_f]Louise[/name_f] are so pretty!
On paper I should love [name_f]Selah[/name_f], it’s similar to other names I like (Sarah, Saorla), has a soft prettiness and also looks attractive written down, but I can’t get past that it sounds phonetically identical to [name_f]Sailor[/name_f], at least in my accent, to the point where I think people would assume the name was [name_f]Sailor[/name_f] because the word is more familiar than the name.
I’ve always had a soft spot for [name_f]Sarah[/name_f].
It’s hard to say what I’d pick as middles, but for you -
I love [name_f]Sarah[/name_f]! It’s been a favourite of mine more recently! And [name_f]Selah[/name_f] is pretty too
If I were to use them, I’d use: [name_f]Selah[/name_f] [name_f]Maree[/name_f], [name_f]Selah[/name_f] [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f]
[name_f]Sarah[/name_f] [name_f]Jane[/name_f], [name_f]Sarah[/name_f] [name_f]Grace[/name_f], [name_f]Sarah[/name_f] [name_f]Paige[/name_f]
Based on your moodboard, I’d use: [name_f]Selah[/name_f] [name_f]Michelle[/name_f], [name_f]Selah[/name_f] [name_f]Kate[/name_f], [name_f]Selah[/name_f] [name_f]Amy[/name_f]
[name_f]Sarah[/name_f] [name_f]Louise[/name_f], [name_f]Sarah[/name_f] [name_f]Lily[/name_f], [name_f]Sarah[/name_f] [name_f]Sage[/name_f]
@PeachyMum [name_f]Selah[/name_f] [name_f]Odette[/name_f], [name_f]Selah[/name_f] [name_f]Clementine[/name_f], and [name_f]Sarah[/name_f] [name_f]Willow[/name_f] are SO pretty!
@Lula-Rose [name_m]Ah[/name_m], yes. In my accent I say the R in [name_f]Sailor[/name_f] so they sound different. I love [name_f]Selah[/name_f] [name_f]Cosette[/name_f] and [name_f]Sarah[/name_f] [name_f]Clementine[/name_f]!
@KT4 [name_f]Sarah[/name_f] [name_f]Jane[/name_f] is such a sweet classic, I just love her! [name_f]Selah[/name_f] [name_f]Kate[/name_f] is so spunky and fun (although I think I prefer [name_f]Selah[/name_f] Cate.)
