What makes her attractive to you. Or not.
to me.
I picture a heavy middle-aged woman with a beehive.
[name_m]Ah[/name_m], [name_f]Gloria[/name_f] conjures up images of [name_f]Gloria[/name_f] on All in the Family. Some might not, but I really like the association. I think would be adorable on a little girl with blonde ringlets. And I think it grows up nicely as well.
[name_f]Gloria[/name_f] feels very middle-aged to me. I tend not to like names that begin with G either. It just seems so harsh to start with such a guttural sound. Then to add such a light ending - “ia” - I get whiplash just saying the name.
My mom’s first name is [name_f]Gloria[/name_f]. She hates it and always has gone by her middle instead. Sorry that’s not exactly helpful… lol
I’m afraid I can’t do that lol.
I don’t like the name [name_f]Gloria[/name_f]. It’s old fashioned. BUT [name_f]Sophia[/name_f] Vergara’s character on Modern Family may help update the name a little. If you can picture her, the name suddenly becomes a lot more attractive!

- I love [name_f]Gloria[/name_f]. I think she’s retro, quirky, funky, vivacious, smart, glorious. She’s definitely in-your-face, but still feminine and sweet. I imagine a really fiery woman with this name - maybe that little blonde with ringlets grows into a strong, compelling woman, life of the party, maybe not the most conventionally beautiful, but just someone who draws you in, makes you want to be her friend - and she is a good friend, she will be there when things get rough, and she’ll know when to say something funny or when it’s just time to grab the wine and/or ice cream and settle in for a cry. I think [name_f]Gloria[/name_f] feels everything. One day, when she’s a little gray and a lot overweight, [name_f]Gloria[/name_f] becomes the best beehived grandma in the world, who gives you candy and knows your favorite cartoons and has all sorts of crazy stories to tell you when you turn 18 and you’re old enough to hear them.
P.S. For what it’s worth, I think beehives are kind of awesome.
pretty much this ^
My grandmother’s name. She was beautiful, so I picture a striking beauty with this name. You would certainly be ahead of the pack on bringing this one back. I would love to meet a little [name_f]Gloria[/name_f] though.
I love [name_f]Gloria[/name_f]. I think it would be so cute on a little girl, and the nn [name_f]Glory[/name_f] would be nice too. I started liking this name after watching the movie happy feet. [name_f]Gloria[/name_f] in the movie would sing amazing songs. I have considered actually using this name.
I immediately think of 2 songs; [name_f]Gloria[/name_f] by [name_u]Van[/name_u] [name_m]Morrison[/name_m] in the 70’s, and [name_f]Gloria[/name_f] by [name_f]Laura[/name_f] [name_m]Branigan[/name_m] in the 80’s. [name_m]Just[/name_m] feels very dated, although I do like [name_f]Glory[/name_f] as a nickname.
I love it! Blonde ringlets, vibrant blue eyes, a dimpled smile and lots of energy! She loves the [name_u]Christmas[/name_u] carol, Angels We Have Heard On High, and loves every season! She’ll grow up to be a wife, mother, and grandmother, not to mention daughter-in-law and niece. She has a vibrant personality, is respectful of older persons, and loves caring for the sick. Her heart is a heart of gold, and no one she meets would deny it. [name_f]Gloria[/name_f]'s pretty close to the top on my list of names, which is pretty long, and the images/feelings it conjures up for me are all positive! [name_f]Happy[/name_f] naming!
It’s one of those names that I really want to like because the imagery is lovely, but it feels dated and frumpy.
I do really like the name [name_f]Glory[/name_f] and would consider it for a mn at least.
I can see this one making a comeback in the next 15 or so years. I wouldn’t use it but it does sound like a strong name to me. I can see a [name_f]Gloria[/name_f] being a doctor or businesswoman or artist. I have a hard time seeing [name_u]Piper[/name_u] (for example) growing up and having one of the first two careers. I could appreciate someone using the name for a baby girl. And [name_f]Glory[/name_f]? That’s cute.
[name_f]Glory[/name_f] is a longtime favorite of mine and remains on my mn list. Nothing against [name_f]Gloria[/name_f], though. My hubby has an Aunt [name_f]Gloria[/name_f] who is a lovely motherly woman just itching to bake our kids cookies and wrap them in a handknitted blanket when they fall asleep on her lap. So that’s the ‘feeling’ I get.
I have a tiny friend who is three…I’ve know her since she was born…and her name is [name_f]Gloria[/name_f]! I love love love her name and it fits her perfectly. I think it’s sweet, vintage and spunky. [name_f]Gloria[/name_f]'s middle name is [name_f]Marie[/name_f]. She is just a doll! I say go for it!
