I adore [name_u]Rex[/name_u] [name_m]Aurelian[/name_m] AND [name_u]Rex[/name_u] Aurelias! There’s absolutely no harm in asking dad, and the matching “A” middle names is just a bonus.

As a sidenote - I laughed a little too hard when I flipped [name_u]Rex[/name_u] [name_m]Thaddeus[/name_m] to [name_m]Thaddeus[/name_m] [name_u]Rex[/name_u] in my mind, which sounds great except it also means you’d have named your child T. rex.

Haha. Yes. We’ve had several people make that connection. [name_m]Thaddeus[/name_m] [name_u]Rex[/name_u] does NOT work!

I think you should go with 2 middle names [name_u]Rex[/name_u] [name_m]Thaddeus[/name_m] Aurelias! Perfect!

I like [name_u]Rex[/name_u] [name_m]Aurelius[/name_m] the most, and I like the connection with your daughters’ names.

I suggest asking your husband if he would like baby to have two middles thereby giving him the option of still having his name included.

It can’t hurt to ask. Personally I rather like [name_u]Rex[/name_u] [name_m]Thaddeus[/name_m], but [name_u]Rex[/name_u] [name_m]Aurelian[/name_m] is another great option.

I voted for [name_u]Rex[/name_u] [name_m]Aurelian[/name_m], but as someone else suggested, using two middles would be a cool idea as well!

I think [name_u]Rex[/name_u] [name_m]Thad[/name_m] [name_m]Aurelius[/name_m] is a compromise that gets a win-win on all fronts. Dad’s name, sentimental middle, and an “A” middle. I also adore the T [name_u]Rex[/name_u] as a nickname when a kid and [name_m]Thad[/name_m] [name_m]Junior[/name_m] or [name_u]Ari[/name_u] as an adult. I also love [name_u]Luca[/name_u]/ [name_m]Lucas[/name_m] as an optional middle. [name_u]Rex[/name_u] [name_u]Luca[/name_u] [name_m]Thaddeus[/name_m] is great!

I think it should always be okay to talk about new ideas, so I think you should talk to your husband about why you would like to use [name_m]Aurelius[/name_m]/an instead of [name_m]Thaddeus[/name_m]. I’d be prepared for some push back, of course, depending on how set he is on passing his name down to his son. It could also depend on what you think the chances are of having another boy who could be given the name [name_m]Thaddeus[/name_m].

I have heard it’s a bit of a pain to have two middles (no room for it when filling in forms, for example), but that’s a possibility.

Another option could be to give him a special “golden” nickname just for you to use.

[name_u]Rex[/name_u] [name_m]Thaddeus[/name_m] is my favourite. [name_u]Rex[/name_u] [name_m]Aurelian[/name_m] is my second favourite.

I like [name_u]Rex[/name_u] [name_m]Thaddeus[/name_m] best!

I like [name_u]Rex[/name_u] [name_m]Thaddeus[/name_m], but I do have an idea for a middle name meaning “light.” [name_m]

How[/name_m] about [name_u]Rex Elior[/name_u] or [name_u] Rex Lior[/name_u]?

I actually really like [name_u]Rex[/name_u] [name_m]Thaddeus[/name_m].

But if your husband and you decide to use a mn meaning light, then I prefer [name_u]Rex[/name_u] [name_m]Aurelian[/name_m] (don’t like [name_m]Aurelius[/name_m] for some reason).

I have three sons. The second and third have two middle names (using the first and middle names of my father who sadly passed away after my first son was born)… and on a practical level it’s a royal pain in the butt to have two middle names, even though I love honoring my dad. If I could do it again, I would give them only one middle.

Having said that, a PP suggestion of [name_u]Rex[/name_u] [name_m]Thad[/name_m] [name_m]Aurelian[/name_m] would be my fave combo of two middle names.

Best of luck!

I voted [name_u]Rex[/name_u] Auelian but I also really love [name_u]Rex[/name_u] [name_m]Thaddeus[/name_m]. I actually love the t rex association, I think it’d be a cute nickname.
I think it boils down to how much your husband wants to pass down part of his name. My husband and I personally didn’t want to honor ourselves when naming our children, so he’d be thrilled if I approached him with another option. But if your husband has been excited about passing [name_m]Thaddeus[/name_m] down and its been the plan thus far I think I’d stick with it. Definitely worth a conversation though.

I’m going to add that for this pregnancy husband and I decided on a name. Out of nowhere a name that we had decided against came screaming back into my mind and I almost didn’t bring it up to my husband because I thought he was already sold on the other name. But I brought it up and he ended up being the one who got super attached to name #2 and wanted us to change his name to that. So, even if you think you know how the conversation is going to go, have the conversation. Sometimes you’ll be surprised.

[name_u]Rex[/name_u] [name_m]Thaddeus[/name_m] [name_m]Aurelian[/name_m] could work if you really can’t decide. I would choose [name_u]Rex[/name_u] [name_m]Aurelius[/name_m] personally - both because I adore [name_m]Aurelius[/name_m] and because I love the meaning it has for you.

All three names are very nice, but I do really like [name_m]Aurelian[/name_m]/[name_m]Aurelius[/name_m]. I ultimately voted for [name_m]Aurelian[/name_m], but it was difficult for me to choose between the two - both would go well with [name_u]Rex[/name_u]. I would definitely talk to your husband and see what he thinks. Your description of how meaningful the golden imagery is very sweet.

Thanks for all your input. I’m surprised at how close it is! Since it generally seems like people think [name_u]Rex[/name_u] [name_m]Thaddeus[/name_m] sounds ok and since my husband is pretty set on it (we talked about the possibility of [name_m]Aurelian[/name_m] or [name_m]Aurelius[/name_m]), I think we will just stick with [name_u]Rex[/name_u] [name_m]Thaddeus[/name_m]. Thanks for your help!
