Sephy/Sephie/Seffie?

I like the names [name_f]Persephone[/name_f] and [name_f]Seraphina[/name_f], but I prefer the nickname Sephy as a standalone name for future daughter. this spelling is the only way I’ve ever seen it, but lately I’ve been leaning toward Sephie or Seffie (which I see as [name_f]Effie[/name_f] with an “S”, instead of as a “more obvious” or made up spelling). how would you spell this name? thank you!

Sephie is my favorite of the spellings you listed, I think because it reminds me of [name_f]Sophie[/name_f] and Stephie, which feel a little more familiar and help me see Sephie as a given name. After that I would rank them Seffie followed by Sephy.

I like Sephie! It looks very namey

Sephie was a comic book character in a series I used to read. I have [name_f]Saffi[/name_f] on my own list, spelled like this, but I like multiple different spellings. I sometimes worry that people will think it’s just an alternative to the ever popular [name_f]Sophie[/name_f], instead of a name in its own right and with a literary history. Thus, I worry a little about the same thing for Sephie, but I do really like it. I like the spelling Sephie best, but it is close to Stephie, so maybe Seffie is better.

Sephie looks the most natural to me. Like [name_f]Sophie[/name_f] with an E.

Sephie is such a cute name! I like the Sephie spelling best, I agree with other posters that it’s close to [name_f]Sophie[/name_f] so it seems more familiar. I also really like the Seffie spelling!

I like Sephy best. To me, Sephie looks like a typo of [name_f]Sophie[/name_f], but I think if I knew a Sephie I wouldn’t think that, if that makes sense.

I think I like Sephy best. It looks more distinctive, whereas Sephie looks very like [name_f]Sophie[/name_f] at a glance and Seffie reminds me of “selfie”!

Sephy is pretty and interesting. It reminds me of the heroine of the excellent Noughts and Crosses series by [name_f]Malorie[/name_f] Blackman, favourites of mine when I was a teenager!

Ditto what katinka said. they are all very pretty but my favorite is Sephy. I looks more distinct to me and less like a variation of [name_f]Sophie[/name_f]

My sister is a [name_f]Persephone[/name_f] who goes by Sephie. The other spellings are NMS.

I like Sephie best but agree with @katinka that it would likely be confused with [name_f]Sophie[/name_f]. For that reason, I think I’d go with Sephy. I also agree that Seffie looks too much like “selfie” to me!

I think Sephy/Sephie is lovely and I like the literary association that @katinka mentioned. It’s not a particularly common nickname so I can see it working fine as a standalone name. I prefer the Sephie spelling but Sephy is nice too. I’m not sure why, but Seffie doesn’t appeal to me.

Exactly, similarities with other popular names are usually never a good reason, usually children and adults are annoyed by constant confusion. I would use Sephy or Saphy.

@katinka that book is where I discovered the name! it’s also where I saw [name_u]Callum[/name_u] for the first time, which remains my ultimate favorite boy’s name to this day

I appreciate all the helpful replies. I hadn’t thought about the possible confusion between Sephie and [name_f]Sophie[/name_f], which personally might bother me. I am liking the Seffie spelling right now, but keeping the “selfie” thing in mind. thanks again!
