Serafina and Fiora: What do I do with these crushes?

Over the past couple of days, I’ve really fallen in love with [name]Serafina[/name] and [name]Fiora[/name]. I love their feminine, fiery imagery, and I can see them being anything from countess in [name]London[/name] to a ballerina on a stage to a quiet bookworm. I had liked [name]Seraphina[/name] for a while, but I just finished this amazing novel about a viscountess in [name]London[/name] who was essentially a girl [name]Sherlock[/name] [name]Holmes[/name], and she totally made me fall in love with [name]Serafina[/name]. And [name]Fiora[/name]… it sort of smooshes my favorite parts of [name]Fiona[/name] ([name]Fio[/name]!) and [name]Flora[/name] (ora!) together, and it’s so fun to say!

However… I feel like they don’t go with my list, at all. [name]Do[/name] they? I can’t see [name]Serafina[/name] or [name]Fiora[/name] as a sister to [name]Isabelle[/name], [name]Olivia[/name], [name]Tess[/name], or [name]Charlotte[/name]… etc. Could they fit on my list? Or are they better reserved in the MN spot? I’ve been toying around with [name]Emmeline[/name] [name]Fiora[/name], but I’m not sure. What would you pair with [name]Fiora[/name] or [name]Serafina[/name]?

Thanks, ladies!

What lovely crushes! These are both adorable, frilly but not overly so, and very very beautiful. I’ve never heard of [name]Fiora[/name] before but I can see iit’s appeal. A mix between [name]Fiona[/name] and [name]Flora[/name], how perfect! And I agree, super fun to say. My vote goes to seraphina though. Would have been a top contender for me too, but alas, didn’t go with my sib set at all. However for you, definitely still doable. [name]Seraphina[/name] and [name]Tess[/name] is the only one that gives me slight pause, but even then it still works and had the S sound to tie both names in.
As long as [name]Tess[/name] has a somewhat long and frilly mn…[name]Tess[/name] [name]Felicity[/name] was a top contender right?.. Then I think your set. [name]Lovely[/name]!

bellarina,

While I still completely adore [name]Felicity[/name] and want to use it somewhere as a MN, I’m no longer sure about [name]Tess[/name] [name]Felicity[/name]. It sounds quite hissy to me. I do like it, though, but I’m leaning more toward [name]Tess[/name] [name]Penelope[/name] or [name]Tess[/name] [name]Elena[/name] something or other, in honor of my favorite little person who was just diagnosed with leukemia this week. :frowning: Maybe [name]Tess[/name] [name]Elena[/name] [name]Felicity[/name]? I’m not sure–I’m ideally trying to narrow my list to ten, but as you can see, my updated list is in my signature, and it’s definitely not just 10 names! I can’t seem to eliminate anything at this point. Really? [name]Serafina[/name] seems so frilly next to something like [name]Catherine[/name] or even [name]Isabelle[/name]. I think [name]Isabella[/name] and [name]Serafina[/name] could go, they’re Italian and super girly and everything, but [name]Isabelle[/name] is more laid-back and not quite so frilly, imo. Realistically, I have no clue where I’d put [name]Serafina[/name]. Most of my favorite FNs are quite long, so something like [name]Olivia[/name] [name]Serafina[/name] or [name]Emmeline[/name] [name]Serafina[/name] or [name]Charlotte[/name] [name]Serafina[/name] just seem too much, especially considering that I’d add a second MN to honor family.

Does it matter too much if they don’t fit in with your current list? Chances are you won’t have a need for all names on your list, just a few absolute favourites. [name]Serafina[/name] and [name]Fiora[/name] may seem strange with a [name]Charlotte[/name] or [name]Tess[/name], but together they’d make sense. And maybe your love for these names show that your tastes may be starting to change a little. My own list seems to be ever evolving!

I can see [name]Serafina[/name] and [name]Fiora[/name] as sisters. Maybe you should put it in the middle spot? I would keep [name]Fiora[/name].

I can see a [name]Serafina[/name] with sisters named [name]Olivia[/name], [name]Liliana[/name], [name]Isabelle[/name], and [name]Catherine[/name], although I think the [name]Seraphina[/name] spelling would go even better with them. (But I may be biased, since I much prefer the “ph”.)

[name]Fiora[/name] is better matched with [name]Eleni[/name] and [name]Eva[/name], and maybe [name]Emmeline[/name] and [name]Josephine[/name].

I think [name]Serafina[/name] and [name]Fiora[/name] totally fit. They are a logical next step for your name development. In fact, if you replaced [name]Rachel[/name] with [name]Serafina[/name] and put [name]Fiora[/name] in the [name]Hannah[/name] spot, I think your entire list becomes more stylistically cohesive. [name]Don[/name]'t box yourself in with your old favorites…leave room to grow. And when you’re growing, often you’ll find it actually does make sense; you just didn’t realize before that you were growing in a particular direction.

I think that they’re great names and you shouldn’t pay too much attention to how they fit with the others. I love them and I doubt people will pay too much attention to the differences in name styles! Use them if you love them!

Ooh, [name]Fiora[/name] is so pretty! It would make a great middle, perhaps [name]Catherine[/name] [name]Fiora[/name]? I agree with pps that you shouldn’t overly worry about the coherence of your style. You don’t know what specific combos you may use in future.

Honestly, if my list is changing, it’s changing to be more classic, not more frilly–names like [name]Catherine[/name], [name]Eva[/name], [name]Tess[/name], [name]Josephine[/name], [name]Audrey[/name], [name]Gwendolyn[/name]. Not [name]Serafina[/name] and [name]Fiora[/name]. I think I prefer them both as MNs, anyway. I am quite loving [name]Emmeline[/name] [name]Fiora[/name], at the moment, though, and I think it works there very well. I’m not sure about [name]Serafina[/name], but I think at the moment I’m more in love with [name]Fiora[/name], anyway.

Also, thoughts on [name]Fiora[/name] vs. [name]Fiorella[/name]? I think they’re both lots of fun to say, but I like the look of [name]Fiora[/name] more. I think I might actually like to say [name]Fiorella[/name] more, though…

I really, REALLY like both. [name]Seraphina[/name]/[name]Seraphine[/name] is my latest crush I think. I prefer [name]Fiorella[/name] over [name]Fiora[/name], but both are beautiful! [name]Fiora[/name] could make a nice nn for [name]Fiorella[/name] too…

This thread has me reconsidering the last time I was considering adding [name]Serafina[/name]/[name]Seraphina[/name]: [name]Eva[/name] [name]Serafina[/name]. Thoughts? There would be a second MN (like [name]Eva[/name] [name]Serafina[/name] [name]Claire[/name]), so it wouldn’t be so singsongy/rhymey. I like the tie to angels, and, in a roundabout way, it could honor my sister (who has a [name]Christmas[/name] name, like me. And angels figure prominently into the nativity story!). I think I prefer [name]Fiora[/name], but I am growing to appreciate [name]Fiorella[/name]! They’re both lovely and so underrated. I think I’m slightly obsessed with -iora names, though–[name]Eliora[/name] is also a huge favorite.

I rather like [name]Eva[/name] [name]Serafina[/name]. It is a bit singsongy but I like it.

Those are both lovely names–I’d keep both of them! I think they fit just fine with your current list. Perhaps they can be middles.

That’s what I’m thinking at this point, as well. I still really like them both, but I think whenever I have a crush, my inkling is that I love it so much that it has to be a FN. But some just work (both in general, and on my style) better as MNs. I think that’s what [name]Serafina[/name] and [name]Fiora[/name] are. I’m seriously considering [name]Emmeline[/name] [name]Fiora[/name] and [name]Eva[/name] [name]Serafina[/name], although my heart is leaning more toward [name]Emmeline[/name] [name]Poppy[/name] [something] and [name]Eva[/name] [name]Felicity[/name] [name]Claire[/name]. There are so many names I want to get onto my list–I know they won’t all make it. While I really like them both, I think I’d be okay if neither made it. We’ll see, I still have some other combos to pair up.

Tragedy!! I’m back from a trip to [name]Houston[/name] and what do you think I saw? A billboard for TOILET PAPER named [name]Fiora[/name]. Aaauuuggghhh!!

[name]Eva[/name] [name]Serafina[/name] [name]Claire[/name] is pretty stunning [name]IMO[/name]. But then I rather like repeating elements in names. I think [name]Eva[/name] [name]Serafina[/name] has better flow than [name]Eva[/name] [name]Felicity[/name], because I trip over the V and F a little bit. It’s not bad though.

Ooh [name]Fiora[/name] is very pretty

[name]Fiorella[/name] is the name of an upscale BBQ restaurant where I live.

I love both of these for you. [name]Emmeline[/name] [name]Fiora[/name] is lovely. A name as lacy as [name]Emmeline[/name] needs something a little offbeat in the middle, not [name]Poppy[/name].
I like that [name]Fiora[/name] sounds a bit like “fury.”

[name]Livia[/name] [name]Fiora[/name]
[name]Fiora[/name] [name]Tess[/name]

[name]Eva[/name] [name]Serafina[/name] is too girly for me.
[name]Aoife[/name] [name]Serafina[/name] has a bit more bite I think. (“EEfah”)

[name]Eliora[/name] is also great.
