What do you think of the name [name_f]Serenity[/name_f]? Maybe I’ve been watching too much Firefly recently but I am crushing on this name. Thoughts please>
I love the meaning, but I would personally be more inclined towards [name_f]Serene[/name_f], [name_f]Serena[/name_f], [name_f]Eirene[/name_f] (Greek goddess of peace) or [name_u]Pax[/name_u] (the [name_m]Roman[/name_m] goddess and equivalent of [name_f]Eirene[/name_f]). Whilst I like the sound of [name_f]Serenity[/name_f], the only thing that would personally hold me back is the Seinfeld episode ‘The [name_f]Serenity[/name_f] Now.’ If you don’t know what I mean, Google it, and you will soon understand why I could never personally use this name, or take it seriously :).
If you don’t have that association though, I would say [name_f]Serenity[/name_f] is a lovely choice, though a little ironic during temper tantrums.
I think it’s lovely. It’s probably the best “happiness” name out there; for some reason [name_f]Letitia[/name_f] and [name_f]Felicity[/name_f] have never clicked with me. I like [name_u]Hilary[/name_u], but I don’t think it ages as well as [name_f]Serenity[/name_f].
[name_f]My[/name_f] complaints are two: the first is that it’s been shooting up the charts. It made the top 100 12 years after entering the top 1000 and it’s still climbing. The second is that I can’t think of a nickname that I like. I considered [name_u]Ren[/name_u]ée, but it’s too different style-wise from the name. I really like [name_m]Night[/name_m], but it seems like too much of a stretch.
[name_f]Serenity[/name_f] is a lovely name.
I don’t like it for a real person, sorry. It could work as a mn maybe. I feel pity towards people who have to live with virtue names. [name_f]Serenity[/name_f] seems similar to [name_f]Chastity[/name_f] or [name_f]Constance[/name_f]. I would hate walking around with a virtue name that creates ironic jokes and judgment every time I act or feel different than my name.
[name_m]Just[/name_m] for interest: The only [name_f]Serenity[/name_f] I know is anything but. In fact, it is a joke amongst those of us who teach her, as she can usually be found yelling, racing around and generally being loud, careless and melodramatic. Luckily she does have a kind heart and ready smile too!
I like [name_f]Serenity[/name_f] but [name_u]LOVE[/name_u] [name_f]Felicity[/name_f]
