I recently realized that a girl at my school’s name was [name]Shawn[/name]. She always goes by [name]Amber[/name] [name]Rose[/name], but I never realized until someone told me yesterday.
Are there any names out there that you think should be all boy or all girl??
I don’t really like [name]Shawn[/name] for a girl, but I can actually respect it after [name]Shawn[/name] [name]Johnson[/name]. I am not really for that sort of thing at all, but she certainly can pull it off. A while ago I heard that there were girls being named [name]Oscar[/name], [name]Holden[/name], and [name]Benjamin[/name], and that was just bizarre to me.
My high school best friend’s mom’s name is [name]Shawn[/name]. I don’t mind it, but I did think it was odd that she is gay, but she is way more feminine than I am so whatever. I prefer it on a boy though, but [name]Sean[/name]
It could be worse, but i also like [name]Sean[/name] better - and that’s definitely all boy. For some reason it doesn’t bug me as much as some of the gender-benders out there, but i still wouldn’t do it. i’m not sure why it doesn’t annoy me more, it really sounds like something a parent who really wanted to have a boy would use.
I’m reminded of singing/musician [name]Shawn[/name] [name]Colvin[/name]. Personally, if I saw the name on a roster I would assume boy. It’s a guys’ name to me.
I knew a [name]Shawn[/name] who was named after Miss [name]America[/name] or maybe a contestant from Miss [name]America[/name] from the year she was born. Her pregnant mom was watching & liked the name! This was in the 70s so it was very unique!
She often went by [name]Shawn[/name] [name]Michelle[/name] for clarity, but a lot of her male did come to Mr!
I think [name]Shawna[/name] is nice.
I’ve also known a Seanye ([name]Shawn[/name]-yay).
I did a little research because I remember there was a woman named [name]Shawn[/name] who worked at my dad’s office when I was growing up, and since then [name]Sean[/name] and [name]Shaun[/name] have always felt masculine to me while [name]Shawn[/name] was unisex.
This spelling of [name]Shawn[/name] experienced a brief peak in popularity for girls in the 1970s (according to SSA, it was in the 30s for boys, but the mid-100s for girls). I suspect that this [name]Shawn[/name] got some female usage due to the popularity of [name]Dawn[/name], which was ranked at #26 that same decade. Maybe teenager named [name]Shawn[/name] now had moms who liked the name when they were growing up!
[name]Count[/name] me among the group that would rather go by [name]Shawn[/name] than [name]Amber[/name] [name]Rose[/name]!
There was a contestant on So You Think You Can Dance awhile back named [name]Shauna[/name], I was surprised that I really liked her name on her and I still think of it from time to time.
[name]Amber[/name] I’m afraid will always be stuck in the 90s (thanks, Clueless) for me.
I prefer it for a boy as well, and never would have thought of it is a girls name, except for [name]Shawn[/name] [name]Johnson[/name]. Now when I hear it I think of her and the possibility of it being for a girl. I actually don’t care for the name for either gender though. Not my style…
I prefer the [name]Sean[/name] spelling, or [name]Sian[/name] which is pronounced differently: SHAAHN. [name]Shawn[/name] or [name]Shaun[/name] reminds me of [name]Shaun[/name] the Sheep.
I wonder why, of all the names she could go by, she chooses [name]Amber[/name] [name]Rose[/name]? I mean, I go by [name]Amber[/name] [name]Cait[/name] but only because that’s my actual name, he he.
I’m also thinking of the singer [name_u]Shawn[/name_u] [name_m]Colvin[/name_m], who was big in the 90s. I think [name_u]Shawn[/name_u] for a girl is unusual but not unheard of.
