Which one do you like more for a boy, or are they both too feminine? Is [name_m]Shai[/name_m] useable now that the Kardashians have a daughter they will call [name_f]Chi[/name_f] (Shy). We have some Irish ethnicity so [name_u]Shea[/name_u] is more fitting but I do like [name_m]Shai[/name_m] as well. We live in [name_u]California[/name_u] and I picture my son as a surfer/skater/snow boarder type and want a cool unexpected name to fit this style. Are we on the right track?
To me, [name_u]Shea[/name_u] is strictly unisex. I’ve known boys and girls with the name, and characters in books and movies are pretty well split down the middle. I tend to avoid unisex names for my own kids, so [name_u]Shea[/name_u] isn’t a name I’d probably choose. I’ve never heard of [name_m]Shai[/name_m]. It strikes me as feminine, and because it sounds like “shy” I’d probably avoid it, personally. I can see how it might go along with names like [name_u]Kai[/name_u], though, which to me is a quintessential surfer/skater/snowboarder name. But if you’re looking for something less well known, [name_u]Shea[/name_u] and [name_m]Shai[/name_m] could fit the bill. I think you’re on the track you are looking for.
Definitely [name_u]Shae[/name_u]! I have only known a boy with that name so it reads male to me.
I know an adult [name_m]Shai[/name_m] (“Shy”) and think it is a great name; much better spelling than [name_f]Chi[/name_f].
[name_u]Shea[/name_u], however, reminds me of [name_u]Shea[/name_u] butter.
I prefer [name_u]Shea[/name_u]
I prefer the [name_u]Shea[/name_u] spelling. It definitely fits with the surfer image.
I love both of these names!! I went through a phase where I couldn’t decide which I liked better too. [name_m]Shai[/name_m] is a bit more obscure and [name_u]Shea[/name_u] is a bit more well-known. Both have the potential to be misspelled (wouldn’t bother me personally). Both of these names are also used for both boys and girls. I do consider [name_m]Shai[/name_m] still usable. I think [name_f]Chi[/name_f] will just be a family nickname for her. Keep in mind [name_u]Kim[/name_u] said she would use the nickname [name_u]Nori[/name_u] for [name_u]North[/name_u] but I have only ever heard of her daughter referred to as [name_u]North[/name_u]. I think [name_u]Shea[/name_u] and [name_m]Shai[/name_m] both fit in the vibe your looking for. Maybe just wait and see the baby when he’s born and see which one you feel fits him.
This is one of my top boy/girl names. I like [name_u]Shay[/name_u] for a boy and [name_u]Shae[/name_u] for a girl.
I think I prefer [name_u]Shea[/name_u] for a boy over [name_m]Shai[/name_m]. They definitely have the surfer vibe.
I don’t like [name_u]Shea[/name_u] but I love [name_m]Shai[/name_m] alot
I like both and wouldn’t let the Kardashian connection stop you from using it. Behind the name lists it as a boy name and [name_m]Maks[/name_m] and [name_f]Peta[/name_f] from DWTS have a little boy named [name_m]Shai[/name_m], so yes it’s usable for a boy. [name_u]Shea[/name_u] reminds me of [name_u]Shea[/name_u] Stadium and baseball.
[name_u]Shea[/name_u] by far! I love [name_u]Shea[/name_u] for a boy!
All I can picture is a boy introducing himself as “Hello, I’m Shy” which sounds like a descriptor rather than a name for [name_m]Shai[/name_m]
