This one randomly creeped up on me and now I’m starting to really like it. What do you think of [name_f]Sheena[/name_f]? I know it peaked forever ago, but is it too dated? (For what it’s worth, I tend to like the “recently dated” names like [name_u]Lindsay[/name_u], [name_f]Danielle[/name_f], [name_u]Chelsea[/name_u], etc.) [name_f]Do[/name_f] you think it’s due for a revival or that a modern day kid could rock it?
I agree some of the so called “dated” names have appeal to me too. Maybe [name_f]Sheena[/name_f] will make a comeback. ( I recall there was [name_f]Sheena[/name_f] of the Jungle long ago ) I like [name_f]Danielle[/name_f], Narelle, [name_f]Vanessa[/name_f], [name_f]Rachael[/name_f], [name_f]Michelle[/name_f] & [name_f]Linda[/name_f] much better than [name_u]Sloan[/name_u], [name_u]Quinn[/name_u], [name_f]Laila[/name_f], [name_f]Posey[/name_f], [name_u]Harper[/name_u] & [name_f]Pearl[/name_f]
I’m definitely in the same boat! I don’t know why, but they feel “refreshing” to me in the newer generation rather than sounding outdated.
Any more opinions?
What does it mean?
I don’t share your general love of dated names, though a lot of the ones you mentioned I do think are really pretty on their own. My sense is that [name_f]Sheena[/name_f] was never as popular as, say, [name_f]Jennifer[/name_f] in the '70s-'80s or [name_f]Jessica[/name_f] in the '80s-'90s, so it shouldn’t feel too badly dated… on the other hand, somehow to me it does. It’s possible that I just don’t like it that well, though, and that the datedness is a red herring.
According to NB, “God is gracious”, although meaning is of minimal importance to me.
I really like this sort of name too. I’ve actually considered the spelling [name_f]Sine[/name_f] as a middle name (Scottish form of [name_f]Jane[/name_f], hence the meaning God is [name_f]Gracious[/name_f]). It’s got such a fun, cozy-Celtic feeling.
I sort of like it. It makes me think of The Ramones, “[name_f]Sheena[/name_f] is a Punk Rocker.” It has an international feeling to it as well, a name that would travel well.
I do think it sounds dated. But I should add that even if it wasn’t dated it’s not really my taste. That’s just my opinion though!
[name_f]Sheena[/name_f] Is A Punk Rocker, so a big yes from me. It’s kind of cool.
I like it. I really dislike the term “dated”, I don’t see why it matters when the name peaked. A name popular 30 years ago (example [name_f]Amanda[/name_f]), would be a refreshing change from all the [name_f]Isabella[/name_f]'s and [name_f]Sophia[/name_f]'s running around right now.
Oh, yeah, I love it! [name_f]Sheena[/name_f] is sleek and strong and pretty and interesting!
(On dated names: I’m personally waiting for it to be acceptable to use [name_f]Tiffany[/name_f] again. I mean, the JEWELERY and the LAMPSHADES and the REGION IN [name_f]FRANCE[/name_f]. Come on, those are splendid things!!)
Seriously though, I love [name_f]Sheena[/name_f] because it has a beautiful sound. It also reminds me a little bit of [name_f]Sheena[/name_f] [name_u]Easton[/name_u], who despite her “dolled up” 80s image was [name_m]Prince[/name_m]'s [name_m]DRUMMER[/name_m]. So, yes, if anyone is going to rock it’s going to be [name_f]Sheena[/name_f].
(sorry, for all the caps. I’m very excited about this name !!)
