I’m expecting my first son and would like the middle name to honor my grandfather, [name]Shepard[/name].
At first, I felt the name was too “old-man” (especially when coupled with a likely first name of “[name]Isaiah[/name]”), but I’ve been warming up more to the idea over the last few months.
I like [name]Isaiah[/name] [name]Shepard[/name] a lot, actually. I wouldn’t use [name]Shepard[/name] as a first name, but I think it’s nice in the middle slot–especially given the family connection. It doesn’t really strike me as an old man name–it reminds me more of the profession names that are so popular right now ([name]Carter[/name], [name]Mason[/name], etc.).
I really like but [name]Isaiah[/name] and [name]Shepard[/name], but I’m not huge on the combo. It feels very kiddy-bible to me, like “[name]Isaiah[/name] the Good [name]Shepard[/name]”.
I don’t like [name]Isaiah[/name] and [name]Shephard[/name] together, seems completely mismatched in styles and I’d assume [name]Shephard[/name] was the last name.
The only thing that makes me think it’s ok is the fact that it’s a family name for you.
I don’t love [name]Isaiah[/name] and [name]Shepard[/name] together either because it sounds a little too biblical for my taste. That being said, I [name]LOVE[/name] [name]Shepard[/name]! I have [name]Shepherd[/name] on our list for boys to use as a first name.
I [name]LOVE[/name], [name]LOVE[/name], [name]LOVE[/name] the name [name]Isaiah[/name]…I just really dislike [name]Shepard[/name]. But, with the family connection and all, I would say yes, go with it. I think its a great name.
I do not like them together I agree with the biblical feel. But I do love [name]Shepard[/name] as a first name. I do not think its old manish at all. I know of a two year old little boy with that name who is spunky, smart and adorable. Plus the fact there is a family relation makes it even better.
