Iâm not sure this idea constitutes an entire post, but I had this idea yesterday and I really want to put it somewhere!
No, Iâm not asking about ship names as in boats (although, honestly⌠if thatâs what you clicked here to comment about, I do want to hear your favorite boat names, lol!). What I mean is âshipâ names, as in the modern/internet way: short for ârelationship.â Are there any that you think sound like name names? Any thatâregardless of your own emotional investment in a certain âshipââreally could work for a baby name? I want to hear âem! âShipsâ are such a creative way of mashing names, and maybe some gems have come from it.
Iâll start with my favorite: Emisue. The way this name is formed is a mash between Emily and Susan / Sue. (In its âshipâ form, its origins are from the TV series Dickinson, which is a pretty nice watchâespecially for a writer.) I think she could totally work as a baby name!
Some other examples (mileage may vary in terms of their potential for the names of human children, but they do sound cool regardless):
Edissy (mix of Eddie and Chrissy, Stranger Things)
Everlark (mix of surnames Everdeen and Mellark, The Hunger Games)
Jilly (mix of James and Lily, Harry Potter)
Phlint (mix of Phil and Clint, Marvel, a fun sounding one I found looking up âshop names that sound like real namesâ)

Iâve always thought âLunevraâ (Lucy and [name_f]Ginevra[/name_f] from [name_f]Villette[/name_f]) would make a fun and usable name - like [name_f]Lunaria[/name_f] kind of in vibe, or [name_f]Luella[/name_f]!
Oh and Natsby - Iâve always liked the sound of that - kind of bubbly and zippy. And ummm, donât judge me for this but âSheriartyâ too⌠(look, itâs a bit like [name_m]Rafferty[/name_m] and [name_u]Sheridan[/name_u] and [name_u]Artie[/name_u] in one and reminds me of me and my friend being randomly hysterical about it one school lunch )
Iâm not very into this show, but I always thought the ship name Lumity (Luz + [name_f]Amity[/name_f] from The [name_u]Owl[/name_u] House) sounds so pretty.
I think Destiel(Dean and Cas) from Supernatural could work as a name.
They donât sound like names but I absolutely love Pepperony (Pepper and Tony) from the MCU and Swanfire(Emma and Baelfire) from Once Upon a Time
[name_u]Dessie[/name_u] comes to mind from âJoâs Boysâ with [name_m]Dan[/name_m] and [name_f]Bess[/name_f], (even though [name_f]Bess[/name_f] doesnât go by [name_f]Bessie[/name_f] but it just feels right!)
You could get Liliam from [name_f]Lyra[/name_f] x [name_u]William[/name_u] (His [name_u]Dark[/name_u] Materials) â I think that would make a cool name?
Seconding Lumity â Iâve always loved that as a name
