[name_f]Shirley[/name_f]'s movies really are adorable, a very different kind than the ones produced nowadays.
What’s the name of your favourite character she has played?

[name_f]Martha[/name_f] - I like [name_f]Martha[/name_f] but there’s something that keeps me from loving it
[name_f]Heidi[/name_f] - the name itself is just too vintage and too tied to the character for me
[name_f]Annie[/name_f] - is cute, definitely prefer [name_f]Annie[/name_f] to [name_f]Anne[/name_f]
[name_u]Penny[/name_u] - is sweet but isn’t a standalone for me
[name_f]Betsy[/name_f] - sounds just like a girl from the 1930s
[name_f]Molly[/name_f] - adorable
[name_f]Virginia[/name_f] - nerver cared for this one
[name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] - my favourite but I think the [name_f]Shirley[/name_f] [name_u]Temple[/name_u] association would get lost. If a girl’s middle name isn’t [name_f]Rose[/name_f], [name_f]Jane[/name_f] or [name_f]Anne[/name_f], it’s [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f].
[name_f]Sylvia[/name_f] - nms but a beautiful name nonetheless
[name_f]Priscilla[/name_f] - sounds like the name of an evil stepsister / mother

I voted for [name_f]Molly[/name_f]. I chose it because I can picture [name_f]Molly[/name_f] on a baby, a teenager, and as a Grandma. I think it will age well and the sound is just attractive to me.

I think [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] nn [name_f]Betsy[/name_f] would be adorable!

My favourite of her movies was [name_u]Bright[/name_u] Eyes, but she played a [name_f]Shirley[/name_f] in that. I think that I’m leaning more towards [name_f]Martha[/name_f], [name_f]Annie[/name_f] (also my favourite musical), [name_u]Penny[/name_u], [name_f]Molly[/name_f] and [name_f]Betsy[/name_f], haha. I know I loved [name_m]Little[/name_m] Miss Broadway growing up as well.

I voted for [name_f]Martha[/name_f], I like the warm feeling of the name. My second choice would be [name_f]Sylvia[/name_f].

[name_f]Martha[/name_f], [name_f]Virginia[/name_f] and [name_f]Priscilla[/name_f] are my favourites (although the latter being entirely for [name_f]Priscilla[/name_f] [name_u]Presley[/name_u]).

I’d have to vote [name_f]Heidi[/name_f] for my favourite character/film. I do also have a soft spot for [name_f]Shirley[/name_f] itself. I can see that coming back in 10+ years, I’ve seen it tossed around on another British name site.

I voted for [name_f]Martha[/name_f], [name_f]Sylvia[/name_f], and [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f]. I feel like [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] is an extra bonus bc you can use [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] nn [name_f]Betsy[/name_f]

In The [name_m]Little[/name_m] [name_m]Colonel[/name_m], she played a character named [name_m]Lloyd[/name_m] – I have to cast a write-in vote for that as an early name nerd memory.

I second this poster’s suggestion. [name_f]Betsy[/name_f] is a sweet nn. for [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] and I think it will age well as the child grows.
