Definitely not expecting. I’m just curious to whether one nickname for [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] is more favourable than the other. [name_f]Lizzie[/name_f] or [name_f]Eliza[/name_f] which do you guys prefer and is there any reason? Or are there any other nicknames for [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] which you guys love ![]()
[name_f]Eliza[/name_f], [name_f]Lilibet[/name_f], & [name_f]Betsy[/name_f] are my favourite nicknames for [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f].
I think [name_f]Lizzie[/name_f] seems more like a little girl’s nickname and [name_f]Eliza[/name_f] sounds like a nickname that can be used in both childhood and adulthood. That’s solely my opinion. I know a couple of Elizabeths in their 20s who go by [name_f]Lizzie[/name_f] still, but most of them seem to go from that to something like [name_f]Liz[/name_f], as they age. Something a little odd that I noticed.
There are very few nicknames for [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] that I truly like. I prefer the full form. However, [name_f]Eliza[/name_f], [name_f]Beth[/name_f], and [name_f]Lizzie[/name_f] are my favorite short forms.
Out of [name_f]Lizzie[/name_f] and [name_f]Eliza[/name_f], [name_f]Lizzie[/name_f] is my preferred nickname for [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] as [name_f]Eliza[/name_f] feels too much of its own name imo. My favourite nicknames for [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] are [name_f]Libby[/name_f] and [name_f]Effy[/name_f].
I vote for [name_f]Eliza[/name_f]! I know dozens of Elizabeths and most of them go by [name_f]Liz[/name_f] or [name_f]Lizzie[/name_f]. [name_f]Eliza[/name_f] is spunky and underused.
I don’t particularly care for [name_f]Lizzie[/name_f]/[name_f]Liz[/name_f], and I feel that [name_f]Eliza[/name_f] (3 syllables) is too much of a mouthful for a nickname.
My favorites are [name_f]Libby[/name_f] and [name_f]Elsie[/name_f]. Also like [name_f]Betsy[/name_f], [name_f]Betty[/name_f], and [name_f]Lily[/name_f]. [name_f]Ellie[/name_f] is ok, but there are lots of Ellies. [name_f]Liza[/name_f] and [name_f]Beth[/name_f] don’t appeal to me.
I prefer [name_f]Elsie[/name_f] to any [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] nickname, but out of [name_f]Lizzie[/name_f] and [name_f]Eliza[/name_f] I prefer [name_f]Eliza[/name_f].
I prefer [name_f]Lizzie[/name_f] to [name_f]Eliza[/name_f] because [name_f]Eliza[/name_f] feels too complete as a nickname but I’m not a huge fan of either. My favourite nicknames are [name_f]Ebba[/name_f], [name_f]Libby[/name_f], [name_f]Birdie[/name_f] and [name_f]Lilibet[/name_f].
My name is [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] and I’ve gone by [name_f]Beth[/name_f] and [name_u]Izzy[/name_u] when I was a child. As I got older I began to use [name_f]Bette[/name_f].
I am ambivalent towards [name_f]Liz[/name_f], but despised being called [name_f]Lizzy[/name_f] when I was growing up. It sounded so juvenile to me. I’ve never considered [name_f]Eliza[/name_f] to be a nickname for my name since it’s more of it’s own name. Sort of like how [name_f]Bethany[/name_f] is similar to [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f], but it’s not a nickname. If that makes any sense?
I have heard of other Elizabeths being called [name_f]Ellie[/name_f] and [name_f]Libby[/name_f].
My favorite nn for [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] is [name_f]Libby[/name_f].
I like [name_f]Libby[/name_f] as a nn for [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f]. Both would work well but I think I like [name_f]Lizzie[/name_f] best.
Out of [name_f]Lizzie[/name_f] and [name_f]Eliza[/name_f] I much prefer [name_f]Eliza[/name_f]. But I do like [name_f]Betty[/name_f] too, and [name_f]Bessie[/name_f], but I think [name_f]Lilibet[/name_f] is my overall favourite.
I am not a fan of Lizzie sorry. The discussion seems to be heading into a nickname v. a shorter version name.
Beth I love, PP’s own nn Bette and Lilabet is very sweet but I would only like to use it in a more imtimate family context.
edited for spelling and forgot the lovely Libby.
Libba is my absolute favorite [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] nickname! I also like [name_f]Lilibet[/name_f]
I like [name_f]Betty[/name_f] and [name_f]Effy[/name_f] most as a nickname for [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f]. I knew an [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] that went by [name_f]Bebe[/name_f] (prn like baybay) and I thought it was pretty neat.
