Hello!
We chose the name [name_f]Isabella[/name_f] for my daughter. She is 3 months old. First of all, I want to say that I am from a country where this name is not common at all. That’s why I chose it. I know the US is one of the most popular. Can I call her [name_f]Betty[/name_f]? I like [name_f]Betty[/name_f], [name_u]Izzy[/name_u] and [name_f]Bella[/name_f] do not like it. Generally, I do not like short names, I love her whole name, so I chose it. But here, the short names are very important. And they all ask me how to tell her all the time? I want to choose a short name that I like. In your opinion, is [name_f]Betty[/name_f] weird about [name_f]Isabella[/name_f]? I think it is logical to call it that because the names [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] and [name_f]Isabella[/name_f] are so close, [name_f]Isabella[/name_f] is the Italian form of [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f]. In addition, the letters B, E and I are all contained in the name. So,what do you think? Those of you who have chosen this name, how do you call your girls for a short? Can you tell me if [name_f]Betty[/name_f] is used as a short form of [name_f]Isabella[/name_f] in other countries? Thank you so much!
I think a nickname that is more unexpected is lovely, and nicknames can come from anything. My name is [name_f]Olivia[/name_f] and my family call me [name_f]Lil[/name_f] or [name_f]Lily[/name_f], rather than the usual nn’s for [name_f]Olivia[/name_f].
[name_f]Betty[/name_f] is lovely, different and leaves the possibility of [name_u]Issy[/name_u] or [name_f]Bella[/name_f] for friends when she is older. Another nn I like for [name_f]Isabella[/name_f] too is [name_f]Bea[/name_f].
I’ve never heard of an [name_f]Isabella[/name_f] with the nickname [name_f]Betty[/name_f] before, but I think it works. Especially if it comes naturally to you and you think [name_f]Betty[/name_f] suits your daughter - go for it!
I think [name_f]Betty[/name_f] is fine for [name_f]Isabella[/name_f].
I think it’s fine
