I’m due in [name_u]January[/name_u], and am looking for a middle name to compliment the names [name_f]Liberty[/name_f] and [name_f]Elisabeth[/name_f]. My husband and I haven’t decided which name we like better just yet, but we already know that we’re calling her “[name_f]Bea[/name_f]” for short.
Along with those names, our last name also has three syllables (Kucera - pronounced Koo-Chair-Uh), so we’re thinking that something shorter will fit well between the two names. We considered using [name_f]Liberty[/name_f] as her middle, but feel that [name_f]Elisabeth[/name_f] [name_f]Liberty[/name_f] might be too much and too similar to work in the end. Any thoughts?
Agree that [name_f]Elisabeth[/name_f] [name_f]Liberty[/name_f] is too much (especially since the similar [name_f]Libby[/name_f] is a nickname for [name_f]Elisabeth[/name_f]).
But you could shorten [name_f]Elisabeth[/name_f] to one of its other nicknames and use it with [name_f]Liberty[/name_f]:
[name_f]Liberty[/name_f] [name_f]Eliza[/name_f] or [name_f]Eliza[/name_f] [name_f]Liberty[/name_f]
[name_f]Liberty[/name_f] [name_f]Elise[/name_f]
[name_f]Liberty[/name_f] [name_f]Elsa[/name_f]
Other ideas that mix the styles of [name_f]Elisabeth[/name_f] and [name_f]Liberty[/name_f]:
[name_f]Elisabeth[/name_f] [name_u]Darby[/name_u] (shares sounds with [name_f]Liberty[/name_f] and comes through the grapevine from [name_m]Dermot[/name_m], meaning “free”)
[name_f]Elisabeth[/name_f] [name_f]Delta[/name_f]
[name_f]Elisabeth[/name_f] [name_u]Harley[/name_u]
[name_f]Elisabeth[/name_f] [name_u]Harper[/name_u]
[name_f]Elisabeth[/name_f] [name_u]Haven[/name_u]
[name_f]Elisabeth[/name_f] [name_f]Jade[/name_f]
[name_f]Elisabeth[/name_f] [name_u]Justice[/name_u]
[name_f]Elisabeth[/name_f] [name_f]Lucy[/name_f] (nice meaning, but shorter and sweeter than [name_f]Liberty[/name_f])
[name_f]Elisabeth[/name_f] [name_u]Reese[/name_u]
[name_f]Elisabeth[/name_f] [name_f]Saoirse[/name_f] (means “freedom”)
[name_f]Liberty[/name_f] [name_f]Maeve[/name_f] and [name_f]Elisabeth[/name_f] [name_f]Maeve[/name_f] are both absolutely beautiful! [name_f]Elisabeth[/name_f] [name_f]Maeve[/name_f] is probably my favourite.
[name_f]Liberty[/name_f] [name_f]Maeve[/name_f] and [name_f]Elisabeth[/name_f] [name_f]Maeve[/name_f] are both absolutely beautiful! [name_f]Elisabeth[/name_f] [name_f]Maeve[/name_f] is probably my favourite.
Both are gorgeous names with a very sweet nickname. I like pp suggestions of [name_f]Liberty[/name_f] [name_u]June[/name_u] and [name_f]Maeve[/name_f]. Others:
Not to throw a spanner in the works, but have you considered [name_f]Libby[/name_f]? It is kind of a compromise between both [name_f]Liberty[/name_f] and [name_f]Elisabeth[/name_f] (if you can’t choose one), as it is a known nickname for both those names, but you can still very easily shorten it to [name_f]Bea[/name_f].
While it is more commonly known as a nickname, I think it stands fine on its own as a first name and gives you lots of options for middle names. In fact I know a girl named [name_f]Libby[/name_f] and it was only just recently that I discovered her actual name is [name_f]Olivia[/name_f], I always thought she was just [name_f]Libby[/name_f]… so I think there are no issues with using it on its own if you like it.
That being said, I think [name_f]Liberty[/name_f] [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] or [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] [name_f]Liberty[/name_f] used together as combos are definitely a mouthful, so I probably wouldn’t use them together like that.
I did like the previous suggestion of using some of the other [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] nicknames (such as [name_f]Elsa[/name_f], [name_f]Eliza[/name_f] etc) in the middle name spot. In fact, I think that would even work for [name_f]Libby[/name_f]… [name_f]Libby[/name_f] [name_f]Elsa[/name_f] is kinda cute.
