[name_f]Shoshana[/name_f] is a lovely name! It’s spunky and fun and refreshing without being too out there. I would spell it [name_f]Shoshana[/name_f] as this spelling is most familiar to me and most likely to be pronounced correctly as sho-shah-nah as opposed to sho-shann-ah, as having “anna” on the end would prompt some people to pronounce it like [name_f]Anna[/name_f]. Whichever way you spell it though, there will probably be people getting it wrong as it’s uncommon. It’s no bigger of a name and similar to the more popular [name_f]Susannah[/name_f], and is totally usable to me. It does feel overtly Jewish to me- not a bad thing, but not everyone would want that- but if you’re Jewish that definitely won’t be a problem. Nicknames could be Sho, [name_f]Sosie[/name_f], [name_f]Ana[/name_f] or [name_f]Annie[/name_f], but I don’t think it really needs one if you don’t want to use one.
Watching [name_m]Bachelor[/name_m] in Paradise?
I like this name.
I love the name [name_f]Shoshannah[/name_f] and the more streamlined [name_f]Shoshana[/name_f].
[name_f]Sosie[/name_f] would be my nickname of choice.
Not a fan.
[name_u]Love[/name_u] it! I have it on my own list. I prefer the spellings in this order: [name_f]Shoshana[/name_f], [name_f]Shoshanna[/name_f], [name_f]Shoshannah[/name_f]. I probably wouldn’t use the H at the end, but the difference between one N or two really doesn’t matter to me.
[name_f]Shoshana[/name_f]!!!
It’s a different name (even though, familiar, because of [name_f]Susanna[/name_f]) so I prefer the cleaner version of it.
[name_f]Shosha[/name_f] ([name_f]Xuxa[/name_f]) or [name_f]Sookie[/name_f] as nicknames?
I quite like it: it’s a spunkier version of [name_f]Susanna[/name_f] with a modern vibe. I don’t associate it with any particular culture, though I didn’t give much a thought. However, I wasn’t surprised to know that Shosana is Hebrew.
Possible nns according to [name_u]Baby[/name_u] Name [name_m]Wizard[/name_m]: [name_f]Sue[/name_f], Shosh, Shoshi, [name_f]Shana[/name_f], [name_f]Shani[/name_f], Shoshani, Shushi, Shushie, Shoshie.
PS: I have to force myself a little to pronounce the “Sho” part of [name_f]Shoshana[/name_f] correctly (and not the [name_f]Susanna[/name_f] way). So I suppose that mispronunciations, even after hearing the name once, wouldn’t be weird to happen.
I’m not really a fan, but I’m not sure why. Aesthetically, though, I love the name. I just don’t quite love the sound.
(P.S. Names bave a habit of growing on me for a day after I say them a lot, like this one is now, lol. Not sure if it’ll stick though :P)
For an honest opinion I would say no. A bit too big for me. I think it is different if it is an honor name though. You could always give her a short nickname too.
