[name_m]Just[/name_m] had a baby girl and having name regret. We named her [name_f]Giuliana[/name_f], but not I’m thinking we should have gone with something else. Maybe [name_f]Mariana[/name_f]? Our other 2 kids have Latin based names.
If you want to go ahead!
I think [name_f]Giuliana[/name_f] is a lovely name! Elegant but still sweet. If I were you, I wouldn’t worry too much. Name regret is really common soon after birth. Give it a little time and come back. Maybe you’ll find that she is in fact a [name_f]Guiliana[/name_f], and if not, don’t be afraid to change it! [name_f]Do[/name_f] what you feel is right. Good luck!
What do you think about the name? Which one is better…
[name_f]Giuliana[/name_f] or
[name_f]Mariana[/name_f] ?
I agree with the previous suggestion to give it a little time before going through with the name change. I wonder if changing the spelling to [name_f]Juliana[/name_f] would change how you feel about it?
Personally, I prefer [name_f]Juliana[/name_f] but [name_f]Mariana[/name_f] is nice as well.
I have thought about changing the spelling, We went with the Italian way due to my husbands family having Italian roots but it does seem like it is constantly being spelled incorrectly which sometimes irks me. I also don’t like the nickname [name_u]Julie[/name_u], but at the time I was Tired in the hospital and It seemed like it was the only name my husband and I could come to an agreement on.
Theres no problem with changing a name if you dont like it.
However I wonder if maybe going with a different nickname might make it feel like it fits better? Maybe something like…Anna, [name_u]Anne[/name_u], [name_f]Annie[/name_f], [name_f]Lia[/name_f], [name_f]Jill[/name_f], even Ellie/Ali could work.
Are you willing to share the other two kids with numbers/punctuation to disguise so that we can get a better sense of your style and what might flow?
I am keener on [name_f]Juliana[/name_f], [name_f]Juliet[/name_f], [name_f]Rosanna[/name_f] or [name_f]Marianne[/name_f] but would be great to hear your others or similar Latin names to theirs so we can make better suggestions.
Overall, if the child is under a few months old, I think it’s fine and good to change if it’s not feeling right and you’re not going to like saying it.
If you feel [name_f]Mariana[/name_f] works better, suits her more or feels more ‘right’ to you, then yes, I think you could change the name while she’s still so young!
. The other names we considered were [name_f]Marielle[/name_f], [name_f]Angelina[/name_f], [name_f]Mariana[/name_f], [name_f]Eva[/name_f], [name_f]Annelise[/name_f],
I do prefer [name_f]Marielle[/name_f] & [name_f]Mariana[/name_f] to Giuliana/Juliana (Marielle if it’s the two names [name_f]Mari[/name_f] & [name_f]Elle[/name_f] equally weighted, not [name_f]Mariel[/name_f] where the [name_f]Mari[/name_f] is big and the [name_f]Elle[/name_f] is very subtle). I also really like [name_f]Eva[/name_f]. I don’t love [name_f]Annelise[/name_f] (but it is a fave on here, I think it’s too close to certain less than savoury words ;)). [name_f]Angelina[/name_f] doesn’t appeal to me as much as the three I mentioned. I have never liked the “ge” and “geli” sounds in it or [name_f]Angela[/name_f] etc.
