Good morning!
So let me explain: First of all, we’ve been thinking about the name Alita for a while, long before the movie trailer even shows up. We love the sound, the meaning, and how it starts with the same letter as her brother’s name. But, the problem is, we are very concerned about people will associate this name with the movie (we love the movie though, no offence), and even think that we name our baby girl after the character. But we just love it too much to ditch it. What do you guys think?
Is it because that our idea is so ridiculous that no one is even going to reply?”
Yes, use it. I’ve just watched Alita yesterday so the association is fresh in my mind. I doubt, however, by the time your kid enters kindergarten people will still ask about whether you name her after the movie character or not. If you love it so much (and for so long!), don’t ditch it.
No, no, it’s certainly not ridiculous! I say go right ahead and use it. You’ve loved it for a long time, and I doubt the association with the movie will last more than a year due to the fickle nature of movie audiences. In fact, I didn’t make the association until I looked it up! Alita is a gorgeous name: [name_u]Bright[/name_u], strong, and if you ask me, totally badass! I also love the meaning. One quick suggestion: If you are indeed worried about the movie, alternate spelling Elita could mitigate those concerns.
I’ve never heard of the name Alita, hadn’t heard of the movie either until I looked it up just now… Lol, I’m just out of the loop! I think Alita sounds lovely and even if people do associate the name with the movie, the character looks to be pretty strong, so it wouldn’t be a bad association! I say go for it
I would go for it. I had seen the trailer for Alita before and had already completely forgotten it and had to look it up again. I think the association with the movie would only last for a few months to a year before people moved on.
I think you could go for it but I you are uncomfortable with the movie connection maybe [name_f]Alida[/name_f] and [name_f]Aletta[/name_f] could be more common alternatives?
I say go for it! The association will fade pretty soon, and by the time your daughter will start school, i dont think anyone will remember it.
Good luck! Alita is a beautiful pick.
Definitely do it! I doubt most people will think of the association and it’s a very nice name.
It’s super pretty, if you love it use it. I’m not so sure the film will have such lasting effects that people will still remember it in a few years.
Yes use it it’s so beautiful even if people do associate it with the film it’s still a lovely name!
No, I don’t think it matters at all. I actually think the name is really pretty sounding.
Not ridiculous! It’s a pretty name and I don’t even know what movie you’re talking about. I say use it
