Shyla?

What do we think of [name]Shyla[/name]? Do you prefer the spelling Shila or [name]Shyla[/name]? I have heard of the name before–a friend of a friend–spelled Shila. Do you like it or does it sound like the type of person who would be featured on the “People of Wal-Mart” website?

I like [name]SHYLA[/name]. More fun to write.

I think it has a lovely sound. I’m a big fan of [name]Twyla[/name] and Síle (Sheelagh.) [name]Shyla[/name] is a modern English variation of [name]Sheila[/name], but pronounced “SHY-lah” obviously. I don’t think it sounds like a made-up modern name, like [name]Kylie[/name]. I think it’s quite dignified and interesting.
Only possible drawbacks I can see: It contains the word “shy” but [name]Tacita[/name] means “silent” and it’s still a beautiful name. Lots of people love the name [name]Prudence[/name] (though it makes me think of a meek and cautious young girl.)
It does sound a bit like Shylock, not the most sympathetic character.

I knew a girl in high school named [name]Shyla[/name]. She was [name]Indian[/name] (not Native American, [name]Indian[/name] from [name]India[/name]). It’s a very pretty name.

aaaaaaaaaah i knew a horrible girl called [name]Shyla[/name] but trying to put all assiociations aside…I think it’s dainty and elegant but also modern. I like [name]Skyla[/name] a bit better though

I dont like it. I also think it would be an unpleasant name to have if she did in fact turn out to be a very shy girl.

I like [name]Sheila[/name] & I like [name]Cecilia[/name]. [name]Shyla[/name] is very…[name]Kayla[/name]-esque. Like dated trendy and made up seeming. [name]Shay[/name] or [name]Shea[/name] is sort of in this style but has a classier vibe imo.

I love [name]Twila[/name].

[name]Shyla[/name] however is uncomfortably close to the ethnic slur Shylock for me, but that’s less of an issue if you aren’t the target for that slur in the first place.

The trend for [name]Schuyler[/name]/[name]Skyler[/name]/[name]Skylar[/name]/[name]Skye[/name]-whatever has sort of done a number on the appeal of [name]Shyla[/name] (which rhymes with how half the people I know say [name]Skyler[/name]) and also I have a strange personal vendetta against all but the most traditional of y’s in the middles of names.

[name]Isla[/name] and [name]Ayla[/name] (unrelated names, both pr. eye-la) are okay though?

More than [name]Sheila[/name], however, I like [name]Saoirse[/name] (seer-sha) or [name]Sinead[/name] (shuh-nayd) for Irish S names. Or [name]Sybil[/name]/[name]Sibyl[/name]/[name]Sybilla[/name] for y’s even I can’t hate on too much.

I think that [name]Shiloh[/name] is also very pretty.

I [name]LOVE[/name] [name]Shiloh[/name]! But I took it off my list after [name]Brad[/name] and [name]Angelina[/name] used it. I don’t want people thinking I got my child’s name idea from celebrities. Isn’t [name]Shiloh[/name] now strongly associated with their family, or would most people not think of them?

I know a [name]Shyla[/name]. I think it has a very soft, sort of whimsical sound and I love that. I also like it as an alternative to using [name]Shiloh[/name] on a girl, as I vastly prefer [name]Shiloh[/name] on a boy.

When I think of [name]Shyla[/name]/[name]Shayla[/name] all that comes to mind is [name]Charlotte[/name] and SATC.

I think I like [name]Shayla[/name] better. Or [name]Shaela[/name]. [name]Shayla[/name] is the name of a song by the 70s 80s band Blondie. Very haunting and pretty.

I really love the sound of [name]Shyla[/name].

I’m not such a fan of [name]Shyla[/name], just in case she is a shy girl. If she’s a outgoing strong personality then [name]Shyla[/name] could be fine. I do prefer [name]Shiloh[/name] though in any scenario.
