Sia?

I suddenly love the name Sia pronounced - SEE-A

[name]Do[/name] you think it would be fine as a full name or too nicknamy? If so what is a good full name for Sia?

I like it. I don’t think it’s too nicknamy. It can stand alone fine as a FN on its own. Its just like names such as [name]Nia[/name], [name]Mia[/name]…etc… They are short and sweet but strong enough alone as FNs.

Never heard of [name]Nia[/name] :stuck_out_tongue:

I like the name Sia! Did you hear it from the australian singer? Thats how i started liking it. I think it’s unique and cute

I do think it works on its own, however I can also see it as a nickname for [name]Lucia[/name] and [name]Anastasia[/name]. I think there are others but that’s what occurs to me.

I think it’s pretty on its own. It’s a hebrew name, you can also spell it Siaha I believe.

I do like the sound of it! I’ve also only ever heard of it through the Australian singer. Behind the Name has is listed as possibly a nickname for Lisianthus, which is really interesting. It has sort of a pretty sound and it’s interesting to see a girls’ -us name, but I don’t think that Lisianthus would wear well.

I think that Sia would probably be okay on its own. If not, I think that there are a lot of names that it could be used as a nickname for. Any name that starts with S and ends in -ia or any name just that ends in -sia would work for me - [name]Sophia[/name], [name]Saskia[/name], [name]Hortensia[/name], [name]Aloysia[/name], and so on.

I just suggested Sia as a nickname for [name]Anastasia[/name] to someone else  I think it would work fine on its own the same way [name]Mia[/name], [name]Tia[/name] etc work.
For me personally, I would do it as a nickname because i just like longer names though:

[name]Aloisia[/name]
[name]Anastasia[/name]
Anesia
Atanasia
Brisia
[name]Cassia[/name]
Edesia
[name]Freesia[/name]
Melosia
[name]Nicasia[/name]
[name]Theodosia[/name]
[name]Acacia[/name]
[name]Alicia[/name]
[name]Felicia[/name]
Mercia
[name]Patricia[/name]
[name]Valencia[/name]

I really like it and it’s fine on its own. It could be used as a nickname for anything that ends in sia. Maybe use the super search to find more of them?

It reminds me too much of the Australian singer. She’s got a great voice, but it’s too strong of a connection for me, personally. I like the idea of something like [name]Luciana[/name] or [name]Anastasia[/name], nn Sia, though.

Good luck!

Sia is short for Athanasia, which is Greek that means “immortal one.” Very pretty!

Yes that is where I got the name from. I have a cousin with the name Athanasia and a grandfather called [name]Athanasios[/name].
I think Athanasia might be too much on a girl in this day and age in an English speaking country like Australia.
My cousin often gets called Athan-[name]ASIA[/name] (like the country).

Agreed, although I don’t love Sia.

It could work for [name]Cosima[/name], maybe?

But I agree that it would work okay on it’s own, like [name]Nia[/name], [name]Mia[/name] ect.
