We have a [name_u]Billie[/name_u] [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] now, and are wondering about a sib for her!
Here’s what we like so far:
[name_f]Ettie[/name_f]
[name_u]Lennie[/name_u]
[name_f]Bonnie[/name_f]
[name_f]Winnie[/name_f]
[name_f]Bridget[/name_f]
[name_u]Dylen[/name_u]
[name_u]Ollie[/name_u]
[name_u]Artie[/name_u]
[name_u]Toni[/name_u]
Are any of these strong enough to stand alone? Which is your favorite, and why? Also, middles? We’d like to try to use [name_f]Joselyn[/name_f] as a middle…
Finally: as you can see we like classic boy-sounding names that can work for girls (Billie, [name_u]Toni[/name_u], [name_u]Dylen[/name_u], [name_u]Lennie[/name_u], [name_f]Ettie[/name_f], etc.) — any suggestions?
How about Frankie? I think it has the same vibe as Billie. From your list I love Ollie, although I personally don’t think it can stand alone. It’s brilliant as a nickname for Olive though, and Olive and Billie are perfection together in my opinion, as are Etta (which I prefer to Ettie) and Billie. From your list I also love Lennie but spelled Leni, which is a legitimate given name of German origin (otherwise I quite like Lenny). Noa is another one I’ll suggest in addition to Frankie - I think it would go beautifully with Billie (which I love by the way). You might also like Darcy and Marlowe, both of which fit into the boys-names-used-on-girls category.
I love Bonnie! Bonnie and Billie are pretty matchy, but maybe you don’t mind that.
I also like Ettie. I considered that for my girl, but spelled Eddy, like an eddy in a river.
Other fun boy/girl names:
Tobie/Toby
Jamie/Jaime
Henrietta nn Henri
Jules (Billie and Jules sound great together)
Alice nn Alphie (my husband’s grandma)
I think [name_u]Dylen[/name_u] works well as first name and sounds sweet with [name_u]Billie[/name_u]. Many of the others feel like nicknames to me, but I think this is a personal preference. I really do like the idea of [name_u]Artie[/name_u] for a girl. [name_u]Artie[/name_u] [name_f]Joselyn[/name_f] is so spunky and sweet. What about [name_m]Ozzy[/name_m]?
I love classic boy names for girls. I like more modern classic boy names for girls.
Something like… [name_u]Luca[/name_u], [name_u]Ezra[/name_u], [name_u]Milo[/name_u], [name_u]Forest[/name_u], [name_u]Nico[/name_u], [name_u]Leo[/name_u] or [name_m]Hart[/name_m] would be cool on a little girl.
Some others that sound nice with Billie…
[name_u]June[/name_u] (Junie), [name_u]Jade[/name_u], [name_f]Violet[/name_f], [name_f]Minnie[/name_f] or [name_f]Louisa[/name_f].
and I second the suggestion of [name_u]Romy[/name_u].
From your list I love [name_f]Winnie[/name_f] and [name_f]Bridget[/name_f]! I think [name_f]Bridget[/name_f] is definitely strong enough to stand alone, and while [name_f]Winnie[/name_f] is more common as a nickname, I think it can be its own name. The only thing that gives me pause is the similar sound of [name_f]Winnie[/name_f] and [name_u]Billie[/name_u] - both two syllable, “ee” sound endings, with a short “i” in the middle.
Some other ideas (sorry for any repeats):
