Sib Set Options

We’re looking for help naming a future little one. Earth-side we have [name_m]Judah[/name_m] (5) and [name_f]Jubilee[/name_f] “Billie” (2). We also have four little ones in [name_f]Heaven[/name_f]: [name_f]Rei[/name_f] [name_f]Ellen[/name_f], [name_f]Aisha[/name_f], [name_f]Mara[/name_f], and [name_m]Eitan[/name_m].

[name_f][/name_f]

We’re currently TTC, and I’m deep in name mode.

[name_f][/name_f]

Here’s my dilemma: to anyone who doesn’t know our full story, [name_m]Judah[/name_m] and [name_f]Jubilee[/name_f] sound very matchy—two J names, strong biblical vibes, similar rhythm. Part of me wonders if we should continue the J-theme for a cohesive set… but the other part of me wants the freedom to choose any name we love, regardless of initial.

[name_f][/name_f]

We do have a small shortlist, but nothing we fully agree on yet. There’s overlap, but not enough to land on “the one.” At this point it’s all hypothetical—but hopefully not for long!

[name_f][/name_f]

What would you name a sibling to [name_m]Judah[/name_m] and [name_f]Jubilee[/name_f]?

[name_f][/name_f]

Would you stick with J names, or break the pattern?

[name_f][/name_f]

Our short list:

[name_f][/name_f]

Boys:

[name_f][/name_f]

[name_m]Hosea[/name_m], [name_m]Josiah[/name_m], [name_m]Jairus[/name_m], [name_m]Jedidiah[/name_m], [name_m]Kairos[/name_m], Roniel, [name_m]Zebedee[/name_m]

[name_f][/name_f]

Girls:

[name_f][/name_f]

[name_f]Hosanna[/name_f], [name_f]Galilee[/name_f], [name_f]Jerusha[/name_f], [name_m]Journey[/name_m], Roniella, [name_f]Elora[/name_f]

[name_f][/name_f]

Note: I love the nickname [name_f]Roni[/name_f] for a girl, but my husband wants her to have a “full name” so [name_m]Journey[/name_m] and Roniella are my personal top picks.

Out of your list I’d pick [name_m]Jedidiah[/name_m], but only because I love the name Jeddy/Jed. It just feels incomplete by itself, therefore [name_m]Jedidiah[/name_m].

[name_f][/name_f]

I’m a bigger fan of the name [name_m]Judson[/name_m] “Jud” but I don’t think it’s biblical. [name_m]Adonai[/name_m] is one of my favorite biblical names for a boy. I think [name_m]Adonijah[/name_m] is also biblical. I don’t think you necessarily have to pick a J name as long as all 3 are biblical sounding so they would still match.

[name_f][/name_f]

For girls [name_f]Shiloh[/name_f] is biblical. That’s a cute name. You could call her [name_m]Shi[/name_m]? There’s also [name_f]Adah[/name_f], [name_f]Rebecca[/name_f], [name_f]Rachel[/name_f], [name_f]Magdalene[/name_f], etc.

[name_f][/name_f]

If you don’t go biblical and stick with [name_f]Roni[/name_f], full name [name_f]Veronica[/name_f] is more intuitive I think.

I love [name_f]Jubilee[/name_f] ‘Billie’!

[name_f][/name_f]

From your lists I’d pick [name_m]Josiah[/name_m] (not because of the J, it’s my favourite independently of that) and [name_f]Elora[/name_f]. I know a little [name_m]Josiah[/name_m] with the nickname [name_m]Joss[/name_m] which is so cute but you can also do [name_m]Jed[/name_m]!

[name_f][/name_f]

I like [name_f]Roni[/name_f] but how about [name_f]Romy[/name_f] for a slightly more ‘complete’ name? You could also do [name_f]Elora[/name_f] nn Rory…

[name_f][/name_f]

I don’t think you need to stick to the J theme necessarily, you know that you have used a variety of letters even if not everybody knows about all your children.

[name_f][/name_f]

Wishing you good luck for this little one :sparkles:

for [name_f]Roni[/name_f] what about [name_f]Veronica[/name_f]? i like [name_m]Josiah[/name_m] and [name_f]Elora[/name_f]

I think I’d be tempted to break the pattern, unless you find a J name that is “just right”. I’d focus on letting it happen naturally rather than limiting/cornering yourself in [name_f][/name_f] Plus, since [name_f]Jubilee[/name_f] goes by [name_f]Billie[/name_f], it balances it out?

[name_f][/name_f]

Of your options, I really like:

[name_f][/name_f]

[name_m]Josiah[/name_m] → strong but gentle, familiar and cool

[name_f][/name_f]

[name_m]Jairus[/name_m] → cool nickname [name_m]Jai[/name_m], strong and distinctive

[name_f][/name_f]

Roniel → familiar but unexpected, gives you nn [name_f]Roni[/name_f].

[name_f][/name_f]

[name_m]Jedidiah[/name_m] → cool and clunky at the same time [name_f][/name_f]- nicknames [name_m]Jed[/name_m], [name_m]Jai[/name_m], and [name_f]Jez[/name_f] are nice nicknames

[name_f][/name_f]

[name_f]Elora[/name_f] → bright and pretty

[name_f][/name_f]

[name_m]Journey[/name_m] → playful and charming

[name_f][/name_f]

If I were to name a sib to [name_m]Judah[/name_m] and [name_f]Jubilee[/name_f] “Billie”…

[name_f][/name_f]

[name_f]Keziah[/name_f] (Kai, [name_f]Kezzie[/name_f], Kizzy)

[name_f][/name_f]

[name_m]Jasper[/name_m]

[name_f][/name_f]

[name_f]Keturah[/name_f] (Tru, Kezzie)

[name_f][/name_f]

[name_m]Elionai[/name_m] (Eli, [name_m]Lio[/name_m], Nai)

[name_f][/name_f]

[name_f]Genesis[/name_f] (Ness, [name_f]Ginny[/name_f], [name_f]Gigi[/name_f], Issy)

[name_f][/name_f]

[name_m]Benaiah[/name_m] (Benny)

[name_f][/name_f]

[name_m]Zebediah[/name_m] (Zeb, Zai)

[name_f][/name_f]

[name_m]Josiel[/name_m] (Joss)

[name_f][/name_f]

[name_f]Azaria[/name_f] (Ari, [name_f]Aria[/name_f], [name_f]Zara[/name_f], Zazie)

I would probably break the pattern unkess a J name was the clear stand out.

For a girl J name, I like; Journey (nn Roni). I quite like Jerusha too but I tripped on it while saying it with your your other names and it’s less accessible than the others. Jerrie, Rushy or Rooshie would be a cute nn though.

For a boy J name, I like Josiah and Jairus (I did think of gyrate but it’s a very cool name). I really tripped on Jedidiah with your your other two names but maybe it m’d be the name you’d pick to lean into the similarities and cohesion. I don’t like the sound of it as much though. Jairus is the coolest of them imo, but Josiah is so reliable and handsome.

Non J girl - Roniella is sweet but it feels a little too made up for me. Elora feels more expected with Judah and still has the sing song quality of Jubilee. I like the suggestion of Elora nn Rory above. Elora or Hosanna would be my pick - Hosanna could be tricky with nicknames. I’m not sure about Galilee with Jubilee.

Non. J boy name - I like Hosea but think could get one with better nicknames. Not sure about Kairos or Ronie - but they have Kai / Ross & Roni so make them better picks for me. Also I like Caius do maybe Kairos just needs some more time/ familiarity. It is a little harsh for me. The Zebedee seems too close to Jubilee to me but again, maybe you want that repeat sound? I agree that Zebediah could be better.

Other ideas:

Jemima
Junia
Jovia
Shoshana
Shiloh
Keshet
Rivka
Zimra
Eliora
Liora

Jethro
Jesher
Boaz
Gideon
Aviv
Reuel
Micah

I would consider [name_m]Jorah[/name_m] and [name_m]Jeriah[/name_m] as well if continuing the J theme.

[name_f][/name_f]

Personally, I would feel boxed in for future future children if all 3 were to do J and I wouldn’t want to do that but I also see the appeal of continuing. I just personally wouldn’t.

[name_f][/name_f]

For a brother, I would probably do something like [name_m]Benaiah[/name_m] or [name_m]Hananiah[/name_m] or even [name_m]Mordecai[/name_m] for a biblical theme.

[name_f][/name_f]

For a sister, [name_f]Galilee[/name_f] is lovely. Maybe also [name_f]Zipporah[/name_f]?

[name_f][/name_f]

More long name options for [name_f]Roni[/name_f]: [name_f]Veronica[/name_f], [name_f]Bronwen[/name_f], [name_f]Verona[/name_f], though those might be discordant with the sibling names.
